  • For the price of a brand new 2021 Perodua Ativa (RM 72,000), you can fetch yourself a good used car like the 2015 Honda HR-V pre-facelift.
    A HR-V has much more practical appeal to the family man. It’s spacious, comfortable and refined. The Ativa on the other hand offers an arsenal of technologies such as turbo engine, full suite of ADAS and a new platform.
    How would you pick? Let Jason break it down for you.

    Don't know why people are laughing about the comparison, this is exactly what i was thinking actually, whether to get new Ativa or 2nd hand HRV. Thanks for the comparison, very clear pros and cons. The HRV is still a value proposition, especially if you get at least one year warranty left, so you can get everything checked and covered before it's over.

      @ndt2046 3 года назад +7

      Another thing to note: this gen HRV price might drop more when the new Vezel comes into the market. Might be a good bargain for a 2017-18 HRV in 2022 if the timing works out for someone out there.

      i agree. hrv still very compelling simply due to its packaging especially in its usage of space. the ultra seats is just too good and its 2nd row deceivingly spacious. Boot space iinm is still class leading.

    LOL alot of comment says this is joke comparison not fair lah different segment lah that why Wapcar use "2nd hand HRV" instead of new one that cost RM105K price tag ...btw this is good comparison between lower segment NEW car (Ativa) vs upper segment but "USED"... HRV is more refined due to 4 cylinder 1.8 N/a engine & more practical. used market around RM70K + if u really don't mind used car and active safety feature yeah HRV is worth to considered

    how about the height of these 2 cars? Ativa is a more fun to drive especially the fully adaptive headlight. really love it. it makes my night driving experience really comfortable and relaxing. also DNGA really help rear passenger prevent wobbling feel which i experienced severely in my friend's hrv. my ativa driving experience reminded me the feel of my old camry.

    I did the exact comparison last two months. ended up with ativa. One of the main reason, is the interest rate. much2 higher for a 6 years old car, at 3.5-3.8 PA compared to new ones at 2.34 PA. And, i havent got any luck with proper maintaned specimen of HRV. I aint going that TLC journey yet once again like my e39, coz i dont love HRV that much. :P

    Very good comparison review that i was looking for :) I was driving HRV for 6years now, when Ativa came out, I had a crazy idea to get the Ativa, but seriously the space killing me, it can't fit in my 2-meter long working equipment, my HRV when full load it looks like a pasar malam stall and ready to go, but the maintenance fee is the bigger challenge for an older car

    • @Caskep03275
      @Caskep03275 2 года назад +5

      @@SyhaDan Actually, I had lots of bad experiences with their service
      1. I remember once my hrv can't start and stuck at Jalan tun Razak in the midnight, the car was 2 years old, so I make a few calls to the honda 1800 helpline but the line looks like under maintenance can't get through, this makes me super mad on them, lucky the parking jockey help me to jumpstart. after the event, I write an email to them this will be the last honda I brought with them. I think maybe now they have improved their service? haha
      2. When i get the car, got a funny "beezee" sound at the speaker area, after switching 4 service centres, final they found is the petrol cap open handle loosen cause the "beezee" sound while driving :)
      3. the boot actually getting loosen after a few years, I had to buy a screwdriver to tighten the hock, lucky someone accidentally hit my car boot, now I got a new one :)
      I brought a low spec HRV, the car itself is actually a very good car, you got a space that can fit 2 durian baskets side by side while the chair flat, still got space at the boot, a magical chair can fold up to fit in 1.2meter tripod, full load long journey no problem, super fuel-efficient, very robust, quality car brake and stability control saving me a lot of time.
      I am quite heavy use, reaching 10k every 3 months, maintenance with honda service a bit expensive, i went outside workshop after finish the warranty, now i feel that condition still good.
      The car was good but the after-sale cause you headache :) haha

But I am really happy with Ativa for its new affordable price (same price as stupid Nissan Almari years ago) and good driving experience, safety features and practical space. Pre facelift HRV V Spec seat's are far more comfortable than the Facelift V and RS specs seats in my opinion. The seat's have more support, cushion and the half leather half cloth vs full PU leather adds to the general comfort. The only up for the face lift V and RS is the electric adjustable driver's seat.

    1) comparison of the build quality for RM70K cars vs RM100K car totally out of league. regardless its is new or used. eg: bmw year 1999 build quality still better than proton saga..
    2) you just played with the car prices but you forgotten to mention that the interest for new & used car have very huge gaps, not to mention that there is a tax holiday for new car.
