      After all of these situations I'm starting to become a cop hater, especially after that San Antonio cop that shot a 17 year old for eating a hamburger in his car. These cops are getting out of hand with their fragile ego

      He's just so concerned with establishing his authority over this random citizen, who, at the beginning, was being very polite. Right away he has to come back with "Can I get your permission to do anything else? Do I need your permission? Do I need you to tell me to do that or can I do it on my own?". And his partner just knows what a dick this guy is. His silence speaks volumes.

    This makes my blood boil. They did not even ask the guy for his name or what he was doing. He's broken no laws whatsoever. Even if he was on private property, you are not trespassing UNTIL you are asked to leave; and then refuse after being told, or return after being told to leave. This just reeks of asset seizure scams proliferating in police departments around the country. This officer is a total POS.

      The trespass bullshit was laughable. There was a pedestrian sidewalk and a boundary fence and it would be safe to assume anything on the road side of the fence would be a public walkway and the other side of the fence was private property.

    The way the police gets SO offended at the guy everytime he says “go ahead..” is a helluva sign!

      Not necessarily have you ever watched a calm person trying to calm someone down on a power trip. At times it can cause it to escalate further. I would hazard a guess that if the other officer were to show signs he was going to start a physical search or other things of the guy filming he would have put a stop to it as he knows it would not end well for them.

      Not really. I would be surprised if he didn't talk to him about it in private. He wouldn't do it in front of someone. In those situations you would take them to the side and talk to them in private ... which goes for nearly all jobs. Unless they were literally playing good cop bad cop and then maybe he would chime in. He didn't seem conflicted at all. He knew the older cop was over the top. The cop escalated things but nearly every single person in the videos on the channel are also actively escalating things be it passive aggressively. I seen one video before a guy doing this sort of thing making sudden movements intentionally when the cop had his gun out. The cop should deescalate things but the other person shouldn't be escalating things either.

    The young cop not saying anything, looking back and forth between his partner and the filmer, along with his facial expression of internal struggle, was so telling about how torn he was in the situation. You could easily tell he knew what was happening wasn't right. Hope he learns to speak up, or he will _always be Robin._

    If I was a city council or chief of police, officer 8*** would be terminated immediately for conduct unbecoming. The other officer obviously knew the conduct was wrong, if he didn't mention it in his report, he should receive disciplinary action as well.

    That cop clearly received escalation training, instead of de-escalation. This whole incident could've been cleared in 10 seconds "Hey man, what are you doing here?" "geocaching" "oh okay, stay safe out here and make sure youre not on private property, have a good day sir"
    But no. Makes you wonder if this department has too much funding that they can afford to do shit like this instead of taking care of actual criminal cases

      The main issue is that while "quotas" have been ruled to be illegal, tracking "citizen interactions" and the tickets/arrests associated to them has become part of their review & promotion process. When you measure and reward _anything,_ you'll get more of that. That's why you always see a full blown fishing expedition for anything deemed "suspicious".

So ya show a cop respect and receive respect is currently completely unheard of, which is the largest single factor there's been a breakdown of community relations, which drives children to gangs, which creates more crime. Unprofessional policing is the single largest cause of crime in america

    These officers that "turn bad" at the blink of an eye after any question of their power should be a big red flag right from the beginning. I mean how can you employ someone to have authority over someone when they cant control themselves. That makes no sense but we continue to do it.

He is in his 50s, shirtless, milling around outside the wall, that LOOKS like a meth head up to no good, all there is to it. In addition, the guy lives with his step mother and drives her car (so don't pull the "maybe he is taking car of her" excuse, the guy is a weirdo, period.
      Police have EVERY right to approach him, their job is to keep the peace, maintain public order, and stop crimes before they happen, if they can. I know if there was some bum right on the edge of my property I'd want him removed. If you act right, police don't bother you.
      Lastly, he was LOOKING for a fight, as soon as the police came down the road, had not even STOPPED he was like "oh look, they are here for me" He KNOWS he is getting negative attention, and can't wait to argue with police. If he had just said "hey guiys, I mean no harm, I'm just geocashing" then explained it, showed them the app, they would have left him alone, but he started the interaction rudely and with attitude, so police returned it.

    I am a geocacher and have had a couple of fairly benign encounters with some police in Kentucky and Colorado. In each case, when I explained geocaching, all went well. Thankfully, no knuckleheads to deal with.

I wouldn't hesitate to call out abusive behavior of a fellow soldier from fear of repercussions. Defense of others requires selflessness despite any dangers. I don't always see that from certain "public servants" who took that oath.

      @@washingtons.8339 Which leads us to the another problem: their union. I'm in a union so I know how they protect their union dues despite the incompetence on display. I did my time as a rep and it's a sleezy system. Initially it's a blessing to protect working men against overzealous supervisors but it inevitably devolves into promoting and protecting unethical and lazy worker dues. People who need to be fired, get off on technicalities. This doesn't absolve the police hierarchy for not removing bad cops but it's a huge obstacle imo.

    I had a somewhat similar incident happen to me in Phoenix, AZ as well. I was out Geocaching in a neighborhood and neighbors called the cops on me. The police that showed up were very professional and the interchange went by pretty smoothly. I think the big thing was that they had no idea what Geocaching was. They kept getting caught up on the "cache" part of it, thinking that I was saying "cash" and was looking around for money that someone had dropped off. Once I finally got them to understand that it's a harmless, even family friendly, activity they were cool about it. They did indeed first ask what I was doing, asked to see my ID, etc. Again, it was done very professionally and cordially, so a lot different than this guy's incident.
