Really enjoyed this reaction. Also very refreshing to hear you explain and be analytical on what’s being said. Potter is my favourite UK rapper and hopefully you can react to more of his tunes.
A few more recommendations from me are: ‘Outro’ , A million £, and money or victims
Last lyric “ratchet always told me, re up before your foods gone” ratchet is probably one of his boys name on road, and he is saying get more drugs to sell before you run out! “Food” slang for drugs here
Gotcha! Thanks!
Mate, you nailed this from start to finish. One of the best reactions to what is one of my favourite tracks. More Potter Payper please!
My favourite aswell, best uk rap song ever made 👏🏼
@@MILITANT1 please listen to potter breathe, its only on youtube its very old but just shows the raw talent, very under rated track.
@@blackmaxbranning3666 heard it brother, Massive potter fan 🤦🏼♂️😩
@@MILITANT1 my gee
100% agree, the majority of reaction videos are all the same. It's refreshing to see a older gent take time out his day to react to a music video that he'd never have ever heard if not for RUclips.
You can tell he's not chasing likes and views, he seems to really try and give whoever he's listening to a chance.
There's not many reaction channels around like this.
Potters been the hardest in the game for 10 years now. Real rap
im British and a huge potter fan, since the beginning, this was an answome reaction picked up on so many things I've never seen anyone else do on this song, well done man your very good at this
Hey, thanks! That's great to hear!
Too many amazing potter tracks.
Your reaction and breakdown are spot on.
the only american who can break down british rap/hiphop/grime down properly! respect sir!!
White Bastard- Potter Payper is a truly amazing song
Excellent - thank you. Subscribed - good luck on the journey. Enjoy
Understanding how uk rap, in the broadest sense, breaks down into more specific genres can be quite confusing at first but I’ll try and give an overview for u. The first wave of rap from the uk that is worth listening to is grime. Grime emerged from the uk garage and rave scene ~2002/3 and is thus sonically distinct from “traditional” American rap, often with higher tempos and very dance/clash oriented. The originator of grime is generally considered to be Wiley who took the garage sound and twisted it in new direction. The first great grime album is probably dizzee rascals boy in da corner. Although there are many great grime albums, where I find it really shines is in the freestyles and live performances which is the format that most of the mcs cut their teeth in, especially on pirate radio. The grime scene is still active and alive, although it has fluctuated in its cultural reach. After grime there is what is loosely termed as “road rap”. (This potter song would fall under this category) Road rap rose to prominence in the mid 00s with artists like Giggs (his song Talkin the hardest being an early apex). Road rap beats are much closer to traditional American hip hop beats and has very little connection to the dance beginnings of grime. It is called road rap because many of the performers were really coming from extremely precarious lives, situations and places - all of which are reflected in the vibe and lyrics. Road rap existed more or less underground and staying with similar boom bapish beats until around 2014 when some road rap artists in south London started getting into the new Chicago drill scene, ppl like chief keef. They then crossbred the dark, ominous sound of much road rap with the rhythmic patterns and sounds of the Chicago drill scene, creating what is now called uk drill. This is now the dominant rap sound in the uk.
Can give u recommendations from all of these scenes if you are interested :) love the content
Oh, wow! Such great info! I'll start with what you have here, but feel free to give me some recs and I'll add them to the list! I love to hear how music and other cultures influence each other!
@@papasquat08 here are some (very biased) recs off the top of my head. Very much not representative but all good I think. All should come up if u paste them into RUclips

1. dizzee rascal - i luv u
2. wiley epic freestyle - Westwood
3. Dizzee Rascal & Newham Generals freestyle Part 1 - Westwood
4. d double e - frontline
5. flush raw - sox
6. riko dan - woo freestyle
road rap:
1. giggs - talking da hardest
2. k koke - are you alone fam
3. john wayne - fresh home
4. BL@CKBOX S3 Ep.1 [POTTER PAYPER] @PotterPayper
5. SKRAPZ - ONE MORE CHANCE
uk drill:
1. lock arf - section boyz
2. kennington where it started - harlem spartans
3. skeng man - 67 (this one used to have more views police took it down)
4. Abra Cadabra | BL@CKBOX S8 Ep. 62/88 (this one isn't particularly "drilly" but is extremely good and well worth a watch, isn't representative of the style tho)
5. know better - headie one X rv
6. North west - m1llionz
First time seeing a reaction from you. Stumbled on it as this is one of my favorite songs. Thoroughly impressed by your reaction though. Subscribing and turning on notifications was a no brainer. 👍
Thanks! I loved this track and have listened to it a bunch since doing the reaction!
Great reaction!!!
Thank you!! 😁
Would love to see you do a break down of another Potter Payper song called Breathe.

@@papasquat08 my guy u know, reals back in style
My brother met potter inside (means in prison), I thought my bro would be gassed but he just found it depressing. It was before he blew up, his way older music.
I hope your brother is doing well and things are going better for him! (And you!)
Potters a lyricist at heart
One song and I can definitely tell that's the truth!
Old Bailey is court house and probably the biggest in London and possibly even the country
/world
Gotta listen to Bre$co - knew me , he’s from a small town in southwest Detroit
Old Bailey, is Crown Court not magistrates... big boy Court.
Yeah, I know the term, but I thought it was Cockney rhyming. Thanks for explaining!
React to the whole training day 3 my guy, unreal 🚀
"re-up before your foods gone"
restock your product before it's sold out.
Potters done training day, training day 2 and training day 3😁 albums, this is off td1.or training day ,first album.
Gotcha! Thanks for pointing that out!
You need to do more UK rap in general, and probably more Potter Payper.
I'm down for that! Feel free to suggest some! I'm actually interested in finding out more about grime. Big Narsty is awesome.
@@papasquat08 UK rap isn't necessarily Grime. Grime in itself is not really rap, it's a totally different genre with a very specific sound.
@@papasquat08 for grime suggestions:
Wiley - Back With A Banger
Kano - Ps and Qs
Skepta and JMA - That's not me
Dizzie Rascal - I Luv U
Any of those would work, they're all bangers.
Thanks! Awesome! I guess I thought grime was a part of the scene, but maybe it's something different. I'll do some reading!

Old Bailey is a court
I knew that, but I wasn't sure if it was Cockney rhyming. At first I thought it was, but now I don't think it is.

Lord Apex sounds better, try it
Truer
No, no he doesn’t. Reddit chill stoner vibes will never touch potter
grow up
@@mitsubishimcdougal4377 Am i ask ur advice, kid... im 24 years old, whats next) Its just fact, something can be better, try get out of lyrics. Apex sound fresher, but he still using boom bap beat, ur potter sounds outdate
@@user-lb1kr7cu5x apex’s music sounds good, but there’s no depth, meaning or storytelling. potter paints a picture of his life over a perfect beat and constantly goes in. he doesn’t need a chorus or a melody. you don’t relate to lyrics or anything with substance because you come from a boring middle class background and you’re clueless to the struggles of the real world. you’re 24 years old and listening to lord apex… i repeat, grow up.
