Audi a4 2.0 tdi pd BRE Oil pump hex drive replacement

we caught this engine just in time before total failure. customer was complaining that the oil light
would randomly flash on with no pattern to it what so ever.
only through having lots of experience with these engines I knew exactly where the fault would be.
and yes the hex drive key was worn so I replaced it like for like with the 77mm drive, I know the 100mm is available and would in the long run be a better option but we had both choices in stock depending on how bad the drive was.
the car is now running perfect with stable oil pressure.

Is it also recommended to change the balance shaft with the hex drive? Ive dine almost 200k gets oil changes every 8k mile and want to go stage 1 so would like to cover this beforehand.

So this is a gear driven pump, opposed to a chain driven one.

Hi mate, what mileage was the A4 on when it had the hex drive key replaced?
My B6 2.0 tdi Passat is on 100,000 miles so I'm wondering when my hex drive key will be due for a change.

Think this was about 120k ish.. it was a while ago I replaced it I may be wrong

Why do you replace that hex drive

@@frashmodding5264 over time it gets worn out and can lead to oil starvation in the engine so by replacing it your preventing oil starving your engine which can lead to engine seizure

@@alfredolamacq1991 the brake vac pump needs oil to work my tt tdi stripped oil pump drive no brakes no boost because they rely on vac hope that helps 🙈👍🇬🇧
