    Hope you guys enjoy this one, what it takes to remove the DPF from an Audi A4 and what it actually looks like inside.
    Please note from the UK MOT laws on DPF fitted vehicles:
    "The vehicle will automatically fail the MOT test if the filter had been fitted as standard but is found to be no longer present."
    So it is highly recommended you replace the filter or attempt to CLEAN it using the correct practice.
    Unfortunately we could not capture any footage of this process, so you'll have to take my word on it.
    Cheers for watching!

      Just to let you know the mot tester can also fail it if it looks like it has been tampered with and should ask for proof of DPF cleaning documents .

      Great video, I have just bought a 2007 sline 2.0tdi avant in same colour as yours. It was a Jersey car so low miles and no MOT's over there. It has the dpf cleaned out 'fully' but I am struggling to get it through its mot on emissions due to the dpf being cleaned out 'fully'. Did you have any issues or did the remap sort the emissions? Thanks in advance Stu

      @@BWTV you're taking a blocked sieve off of the through flow. Of course it will make a difference. The minute you start driving in town these sh1tboxes start clogging up. Making you use more fuel, which is the REAL reason behind them.
      If they halved or ⅓'d consumption, guess what, they'd halve or ⅓ your emissions. You can only get out what you put in. Physics. DPF'S & EGR valves simply make you use more fuel, because both seriously f##k up your efficiency.

All they have to do is implement all the mpg efficiency patent mods that the oil companies bought up & buried to prevent us being ripped off with worse fuel consumption & knackered engines/turbos.

    DPF is standard on all diesels since about 2009. If you remove the EGR, you have to remove the DPF. If you remove the DPF, you don't HAVE to remove the EGR. (this is solely in terms of not having the car go into limp mode shortly after)

    Just regen my DPF today from 104% down to 21% but my DPF has a hole in the middle that allows air to go thru.Alfa 159 2.4.The DPF has a flawed execution.Since i drilled it in 2020, never had a limp mode!oh forgot to add, the EGR is stuck in closed position because of the intake manifold swirl flap being left in full open to all air for combustion to happen.Zero black smoke out of my dual exhaust.no need to cut it just drill it at the open ends cheaper faster easier safer.used a cordless drill with a masonry drill welded at the end of a rebar.even exhaust test passed.

I did a “clean” on my 170bhp engine same as yours from what I can gather they implemented the dpf around this age and they were nothing but trouble... was advised against remapping mine for more power as about 140k but now maybe regretting it. • @dawa8746
    @dawa8746 2 года назад

    That's not how it works, bro. EGR cools the combustion temp. to reduce NOx. But it also decreases combustion efficiency, thereby increasing diesel particulate emissions and thus the need for the DPF. Deleting the EGR would reduce DP emissions. DPFs need regular "cleaning" which occurs in the "regen" mode. If you didn't go fast enough for long enough so the regen(s) could complete that'd be the origin of your limp mode. DPF deletion OTOH usually improves MPG as well as performance (HP and torq.)

    A car I bought a few years ago (Peugeot 407) had an ABS/ESP light on the dash (so I got it cheap). It took me forever to diagnose it. I went to the main Peugeot dealer and they wanted to fit a new ABS block and pump for about £1,000, so I ran away quickly.
    I bought my own error reader and found out that the ECU wasn't receiving/calculating a proper torque signal, so I "followed the air" and found out that the EGR had been blanked, and so I assumed it had also been deleted from the ECU. I reflashed the ECU with a stock file from the internet and suddenly I was getting a bunch of errors telling me that my EGR valve was stuck!

      You think so been driving Audi diesels for 30years never had thoses troubles if you don’t f..k around you won’t have these trouble s and petrol are far from easier to service u need to replace plugs on a petrol diesels have a lot longer service intervals I suppose your your young you’ll learn

  • @MrZimmaframe
    @MrZimmaframe 4 года назад

    NO....... DPF's are not fitted on "high performance diesels".. By law all diesel cars after 2009 have to be fitted with a DPF's to meet the newer emissions laws, that is the reason some cars do or don't if they are older than from 2009, some manufactures had them on cars before then to meet the new standards before they were enforced.
    If you're starting a diesel in the cold it might be an idea to let the glow plug light go out first before starting, if not it's like trying to start a diesel engine without glow plugs which is just stupid, and harder on the starter motor and battery.

  • @RealGX

    The dpf was an after thought on the PD engines its so far away from the turbo no wonder it doesn't regenerate properly. They've been integrated properly on later cars though, so no need to "clean" them unless you're chasing big power 300 bhp+

    • @timprice5
      @timprice5 3 года назад

      Agreed. The CR cars are much better in that respect, with the engine having been 'designed' with the DPF in mind.
      I'm really lucky that my Passat (with the 2.0TDI BKP PD) doesn't have a DPF at all. My next car is likely to be an S213 Merc E220d, which will hopefully be clean and efficient enough (EU6) that i don't have too many DPF worries

    • @RealGX
      @RealGX 3 года назад

      @@timprice5 BKD is a good engine just have to make sure you have the latest cylinder head design, also the turbo is made of chocolate and cant take much more boost than standard.
