1. As per WHO stds potable water's TDS can be upto 500 ppm (Btw, TDS is Total Dissolved Solids which mostly salts and not the sand and mud). Most water treatment plants in the major cities of India are providing/supplying water with TDS ranging from 150 - 300 ppm which is perfect!
2. UV after RO is kind of weird and many water purifiers are using it. RO itself has the capabilities to filter the microbes as its pore size is in nanometers.
3. For specific problems like heavy metal contamination, hard water, etc., separate filters are coming out through research and many I guess are in market already.
4. Also there is an NGT order for curtailing the use of these domestic water purifiers which are actually wasting around 50% of inlet water as reject.
To be succinct, we are not accessible to the pristine drinking water sources like our forefathers. We should atleast be vigil while selecting the appropriate water treatment.

The WHO STDs is ok, but that standard is ok for unpolluted water, but now a days there is more chemical usage in farming lands and home waste water has more chemical, so when those chemical wastes is come in contact with land then the ground water is also chemically reacted at some percent I guss. So think to buy it or not according to the area.

I purchased Kent Pearl Star RO 11L. In 3 months from date of purchase it filled the tank drop-by-drop. Engineer was requested, he changed only membrane and external sediment filter. Again in few months the issue started and now they are telling to change all the filters. Worst product, worst customer care. Everything is worst and waste of time and money. If you buy the product you need to keep on changing internal filters once in 3 months which they didn't inform us before purchase date, but now they are telling that each and every 3 months we have to change all the filters inside RO. They said machine support till 1500 TDS, but it does not even withstand 700TDS.
