- the day has finally come for me to unbox my new turntable for my record collection set-up! i'm so happy with my new audio-technica at-lp120xusb, a great beginner record player. i hope you enjoy this unboxing & i'll see you soon for more videos (hopefully including some speakers & a video showcasing my full record player set-up in the future)!!

1. Black round thing is a record adaptor for records with large spindles. 2. Round plate thing is called a record platter. 3.Needle - stylus, tone areme is the S shaped thing. Counter weight has to be balanced at 2. Grams. There are set up videos on you tube that will help you. I have this turntable in Black. It's a fantastic turntable.

Just discovered your channel and I love your videos ! I get your excitement this year I finally got an audio technica (the 60) after having a bad crosley record player for years and when i first played my records on it i was soo happy
I’ve just gotten my audio technica LP60XBT delivered finally after a 2 month wait! All I’ve done since is play my records it’s so nice to play them and not worry about them being damaged ❤️

Hey there a blind guy Me from San Francisco California. Being a blind person I went with the audio Teknika LP3 automatic turntable but I hear the joy in your voice and it was the same joy I had when I got mine for months ago! You made a good choice as a person who can see with the manual but I prefer the automatic for obvious reasons. I’m glad you love your record player. Your joy and your happiness made me smile! I dictate everything so I apologize for any typos my phone reads things out to me

thank you, i have hopefully weekly videos for the next month or so at least, i'm excited about them all :D where I live, we have just gone back into our fourth lockdown (Melbourne, Aus) and it's definitely hard. just gotta appreciate the little things
I've got an LP 120XUSB which I bought about a year and a half ago. I am so pleased, and I don't think you'll need another. I know that Technics 1200, they say, is a better TT. But it costs four times as much, and I don't have that kind of money. With a mat, I would suggest an acrylic mat beneath and a leather mat above. The acrylic mat gives you a better bass response and the leather mat takes care of static. I am not a rich man, so I saved up and got a new stylus. VM95EN. It was expensive, but the sound is so much better. Believe me. Happy playing!
i definitely am not interested in a 2,000 dollar turntable right now!! and yes so down to save up and get a nice stylus in the future :)

Could you do a video on how you set your record player up? With the tracking force and everything? I barely managed to do it on mine, so I'm always on the lookout for more stuff in that direction.
oh damn ok, i'll run through what i did in my overall set-up video where i'll go into detail about everything. just need to get speakers. i used the audio technica 120 set-up video here on youtube as a guide though

Some lesser decks that had automatic arm lift etc in the 80's would eventually burn out the motor because of the extra load put on the motor, so you have made a wise decision to go for a fully manual deck, all of the power will be used to drive the platter and not be overworked lifting the arm, Happy listening :)
Yes this actually another reason I went for the manual, but I didn’t mention it in the video

That is actually quite a bit better than a "beginner" turntable. It can even be upgraded with an Ortofon Red or a Sumiko Pearl Cartridge. Now get a decent amp and some of the best largest speakers you can get for the money. You will love your records even more. Consider a 4K player for playing digital discs of all kinds. It elevates ordinary CDs to very high fidelity.

Congrats with your new turntable 😊. I really like the design and functionality and it should be a great sound for the money. Did you know the design is actually based on the Technics sl-1200? It was first realized in 1970's around that time I think and it's an extremely heavy durable DJ turntable. They most have done something right back then because the design still looks great 😊
I did read something about that. It’s super cool that it’s based off an old design and actually makes so much more sense why I love it. It feels slightly retro, like I’m transported back in time when I look at it
Congrats! If I really had any records, I'd wouldn't know what to choose to play them on and look at what you got.

Yes! That’s an incredible record player, that model was my first player. I highly recommend the Edifier R1280 powered speakers. They are very affordable and sound amazing. You will not regret buying them.
I’m pretty happy with it as my first player purchase.. only up from here. And yes I’m looking at Edifier definitely but forgot what model it was

Fantastic buy! I have the silver one, to replace my old Technics SL-D33 which is getting a bit tired, and the Audio Technica is a fantastic TT, especially since they've fixed the issues that the older model had.

I have the audio-technica Lp120xusb record player and mine is silver I bought it a year and half ago and I love it and had no problems with you pick a good record player and you will love it also.

For basic playing it's not a bad turntable. I have the older lp120usb and when i had to buy the second turntable (as I am a DJ) the lp120x is actually a downgrade so i bought the lp140xp. I don't know how much more is the lp140xp in Australia but that would have been a better choice in the long-term. It doesn't have a pre-amp but it's better in terms of engine, adjustments
That’s so cool that you DJ! I read somewhere that the 120 has some ability regarding that.. gotta talk to my sister about who also DJs, it’d be cool to eventually learn
@@kirawasadiver the main downsides for me on the lp120x are the lack of height adjustment and the torque of the motor wich is 1kgf. I feel even the older 120 has a weak motor wich has 1.6kgf torque. The lp140xp has 2.2 kgf and it feels very improved especially when you need to do slight pitch correction on transitions. As I have a mixer i don't feel the lack of the pre-amp on the lp140xp and I still have the lp120usb anyways wich I also use for ripping via the usb

Hi Kira, congratulations on your new turntable; It is a great equipment that you will enjoy for many years, I recommend you adjust the counterweight to 2 gr. On RUclips you will find Audio-Technica tutorials that will be very useful to you. Greetings from Mexico and long live the music!

Would be awesome if I could update the rest of the set up (cartridge, amp, speakers, preamp) and never have to change the player itself
@@kirawasadiver Definitely! I bought the Logitech z533 Multimedia Speakers (3-piece). It has two smaller speakers and one bigger subwoofer. The subwoofer has a volume controller attached to it. It's been a great starter set for me because of the price. It's not cheap, but for sure not as expensive as I've seen speakers get.
Thought this was a funny coincidence, I bought the same exact record player and it came yesterday, in the same color too. And you happen to upload this video😂. I also don’t have speakers either... I have ordered them but haven’t came yet. So I can’t play anything really... but still went out and bought 2 new records haha

@@kirawasadiver Well, I was on a pretty tight budget, so I bought some 100 dollar speakers off amazon. They were the Edifiers r1280t and they are powered speakers as well. And they finally came in the mail! They may not be HiFi quality, but they sound MUCH better than the ones from my all-in-one record player. I really like them, they were just what I needed :)I Might will get some better ones in the future, but if you have the money you might want to invest in a higher quality speakers.

omg awesome, enjoy!! the assembly probably took 20 minutes and wasn't too complicated at all actually. balancing the tone arm was the hardest part bc i was trying to protect the needle. i just realised it's probably best to leave the plastic protector on while doing that part..... *d'oh*

Looking at the instructions it would tell you what the unknown parts are by name and the uses please read the instructions. The 120 can also be connected to a computer to record your music....
yep i read the instructions and put everything together :) lots of fun. this isn't meant to be an informative video. and yes one day it would be awesome to record some samples onto my laptop from records i find!

The 120 doesn’t have a BT version unfortunately, only the 60 does from the options I looked at!
I'm pretty sure that's almost exactly the same model I have. When I got my speakers the delivery guy was out in my yard playing air guitar and acting like a rock star and making comments about my wife needing earplugs!

St. Vincent's music for me like late David Byrne's workes from 2000s and this made for those who love this 'puristic' easthetic;
i very recomend you listen to Sevdaliza and Maruv cos they make some of new variation of trip-hopie music and mixing with neosoul (S) and house (M) music.
