Just got mine after about a 6month wait. Can’t wait to get to the range and stretch her legs. Mine is the Win Xpr Renegade Long range SR, with the Grayboe stock that I absolutely love! Stoked!
Sighted mine in last week. Browning X-bolt in Western Hunter with a Leupold VX-5HD. It’s a deadly combination. It will be in my hand opening day of rifle season
I say just get a 7mm rem mag. It does have some recoil but not terrible, has enough energy to kill elk and moose with good shot placement and it’s good for whitetail. Not the best for whitetail but it’s a close second to the 30-06 or .270 in my option for whitetail
If you want to sell this caliber and help it take off, make the ammo cheap to shoot. It'll be in every gun safe across America if this is as cheap to shoot as a 270

I rhink they need to focus on putting out more ammunition for what we have. These new calibers are just outrageous cost wise. Also what we have out already is being price gouged. Lets get on a level here y'all.
Sounds like a awesome cartridge. Ive been hoping they would build modern 270 designed to shoot long heavy bullets and they finally done it. Only thing lower the ammunition to 25 to 30 dollars a box.
How far do you want to shoot ? Lol .270 will shoot further than most ppl can shoot ! I have both .308 and .270 No more recoil on the .308 than the .270 Most ppl has no business shooting at a animal over 500-600yds. Just something new to sell. I’ll put the .308 against these new inventions. Just my opinion
@@whitetailrealityoutdoors958 the 6.8 western is an updated 270 wsm. For those of us that don't have a good medium sized caliber it's an excellent choice to start with as long as they produce ammo which they are. The 6.8 western is being offered in the browning x bolt rifle lineup and winchester model 70 lineup which are very good rifles and very common
Hesitant with only two ammo choices. I usually put several types of ammo through a gun to find the ammo it loves. What if the rifle doesn’t love those two types of ammo?
I built a 270 WSM on a long action with a 1- 8 twist. I can actually get better performance with my rifle than the 6.8 Western. It is comparing apples to apples. I did note that the factory Nosler 280 WSM 150 gr has a muzzle velocity of 2960. The 6.8 Western 165 grain has the same muzzle velocity. I question that. Is a long action really heavier than short action? Maybe 4 to 6 oz. Is the bolt throw really longer? 1/2 inch I do have a dilemma.
@@s1lentw4ve66 I bought some tulammo for my .300 black out and it was roughly $55 a box. It’s crazy. But I needed some ammo for my self defense gun so I got what I could afford (which I barely could afford it 😂)
It’s new, so for a limited time, it’s available at reasonable prices, until more people start to discover it. Fount 160 rounds at my local Murdochs, almost bought it all, don’t even own the gun yet.
How can you introduce a new weapon with new ammo when we can't produce the ammo we already need. All the weapons I own I cannot find any ammo for any of them
They have been producing ammo fine! They just don't want to sell you any bullets.....they want to load it themselves and charge you 3 times what you can load it for.
I know they said it can drop elk and all of that so is it a much bigger round than .308 like say you had a .308 and a 6.8 and you wanted to coyote hunt which one would be the best?
looking at it,, it does nothing really,,,that the 7mm wsm did not already do,,,,,and its been dropped except for custom rifles,,,, and we have enough cartridges,,,,we need ammo and reloading supplies for what we already have,,,,

@@s1lentw4ve66 Instead of purchasing a 6.8 Western at this time, I rebarreled my 270 WSM with a 7 1/2 twist barrel and now shooting that. Shame on Winchester for promoting this un-necessary rifle and cartridge while the entire shooting public is suffering from lack of rifles and ammo.

What is the barrel life of the 6.8 western
Just got mine after about a 6month wait. Can’t wait to get to the range and stretch her legs. Mine is the Win Xpr Renegade Long range SR, with the Grayboe stock that I absolutely love! Stoked!
If you compare 175 grain 7mm rem mag to 175 grain 6.8 western, the 7mm rem mag out performs the 6.8 western.

7Rem Mag performance in a short action. = 1/2 pound lighter rifle. Nice.

The 6.8 Western will be established as the best all around cartridge. No need for a magnum.

I’m getting one soon

7mm mag beats this.
And so does the 300 mag.
I will keep my 7mm mag.
7mm Mag does not beat the 6.8 Western downrange. The 7mm can’t use high BC bullets.
Looks like winchester and browning dropped the ball on the 6.8 it's a great cartridge needs more support
