    Great job, just one question, the area lights you put towards the rock to fake the highlights, how did you do so the area lights didn’t get affected by the volume shader? Otherwise you can see a ball of light from the area lights instead of just having the lights affect the rock like in your case

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  4 года назад

      Sorry about that, it seems like I forgot to mention it in the video. Basically, with the light selected, you go to Object Properties -> Visibility -> Ray Visibility and check Volume Scatter off.

    Hi, i'm new here. May i ask? So when you put the emitter node and put the texture painting as a fac it was just for the emitter right? Where did you put the rest of stone texture? Since you didn't show the full node. I need to know how to combine 2 texture with a abstract emitter on it. If it not so abstract we can just select the poly and assign the texture but you combine it in one texture material right?

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  4 года назад

      I broke down how I went about making the rock texture from 8:10. I got the textures from texturehaven and connected them to their respective slots in the principled shader. If you have the node wrangler enabled, you can simply press Ctrl Shift T with the principled shader selected and then select all of your textures to automatically place them in.
      I'm not exactly understanding what you mean on the second part, but based on what I understood- You can combine two textures with the MixRGB node, and two shaders with the MixShader node. For materials where you need emission, you can mix your principled shader with an emission shader using the MixShader node and have a black and white texture to control the factor. The white areas will use the second slot and the black areas will use the first slot.
      About your last sentence- Yes, you can have an extra material slot where you only have an emission shader, and select the faces you want to assign to it. This works well when your topology is relatively predictable. But when it is as detailed as mine, it's better to just use vertex groups or paint a texture to control the factor inside the same material.

    • @elynchi1234
      @elynchi1234 4 года назад

      @@RenderRides oh, so that was automatic. and it only connected with the principal bsdf? so If we want to make something detail with some part light up, but it has too many poly/tris, we just have to paint the emitter spot with white painting and be done with it? I thought you skip those parts where you connecting all the dots on the node. well, I certainly learn something new. I did join the discord server but I think I'll ask here. anyway thanks!

      Thanks! You can pass the image through a colorramp to get a black and white image, and then try to isolate the fire by sliding the handles on the colorramp. hey Mate can you help me, i have big issue with AMD Ryzen 9 3900x and my RTX 2070s ? Blender allways crash after 2min. i tried everything to fix it, refresh clean windows install , even on a new SSD Hard Drive, new/ old GPU Driver, Rollback, Update....nohing help.
    Could this happen because AMD dont supoort CUDA from Nvidia ?...it so sad Man, thanks for you nice tutorial we love you - greetings from Germany Hello

      That's really weird, but I don't think that's the reason and I use a Ryzen CPU as well. It doesn't have an integrated GPU so nothing could pose a problem there.
      Have you tried stress testing with other software? Maybe try to stress your GPU and CPU separately and see if any of those is causing any issues. What's the situation while playing games?

      i think its a CUDA special problem, maybe the CPU is blasting to much power to the RTX 2070s ? ...thanks help me, you are Genius

      @@blackswan6386 I'm using the RTX 2070 SUPER as well. I had a similar problem which turned out to be a loose cable issue. The problem comes back every now and then, and all I do is just remove and reconnect the PCI-E power cable from the GPU and it works fine again.

      @@RenderRides oh man, sucks with paused delivery and all. I'd definitely recommend getting one when things work once again. Get either a large sized or medium sized one. Before I bought a cheap small one for my previous 27" monitor and boy was that a mistake. such tiny movements translated into big ones. So get one that is proportionate to the screen you use :) (Wacom is what I have, but Huion has really improved theirs over the last years)

      @@neuvatn Thanks for the suggestion! I was taking a look at the Huion H950P as it is the only one which is available currently on Amazon that's not gonna burn a hole in my wallet. I've decided to get one without a screen as I think it'll help with my posture more than having one that I have to look down at constantly.

    Why didn't you remesh for better topology

    • @RenderRides
      @RenderRides  4 года назад

      No point in doing so if I wasn't ever going to benefit from having those quads in any way, as I wasn't deforming the mesh, and smart UV project did the job just fine for the unwrap :D
