As for the alpha maps, import the bump map into photoshop and ad a curve effect and crank the values until you remain with clean white and black colors, then delete the black colors and save the image as PNG with transparency.

Simply fantastic. The art style reminds me of the artwork for Levaithan Wakes but with the beautiful subtle camera motion. It's so high detail yet low poly that I find it really sucks my brain in to the scene. Can't express enough how awesome this is. I'd love to have something like this as a desktop background for wallpaper engine. Especially in the 21:9 format you've recorded this whole video in

I imagine you were pressed for time, slowing down the animation by a lot would really help sell the huge size. Even though this is above my skill level your tutorial really got my creative juices flowing.

This is the coolest fucking thing! I learned so much from your video. I didn't actually make the spaceship yet, but I have been making using techniques you taught (especially that texture generating tool holy shit that thing is awesome). I can't wait for mid summer when I can actually spend time doing this kind of stuff again. I didn't even know you could invert your selection in blender, this whole time I have been doing complex models by hand. @@thomashovgaard3134 I've even used images with alpha transparency but it never occurred to me to use the alpha shader channel and edit the UV.
It's used in games a lot, at least it used to be.

I didn't added stars because in space is hard to see them because of too much exposure :D
