    hiya! i've been taking commissions for quite a few years now. these video is amazing!! it covers every part of the commission process very efficiently.
    i just wanna add something:
    ALWAYS ask the commissioner for their paypal email. this will prevent any refunds made by the commissioner after the piece has been finished.
    if you are gonna take a payment don't give the commissioner your email. some people use this paypal feature to request full refund excusing themselves like "i dont know where this payment came from" and they end up with both the finished piece and their money back. not cool at all!
    aside from that, thanks so much for the info, and good luck to everyone taking comms, and and happy commissioning! be safe ^.^b

    i really love your commission guide! I've been doing commissions for a while now (started in April 2024) and watching your video made me realize that I've been making tons of mistakes. i used to price my headshots to 5$ bust ups to 10$ and full body to 15$ because of how badly i wanted clients to Commission me at first, but as time went by, i found it really hard to keep up with doing all of that for a cheap price. I'm not quite sure if this advice is in the video but I'm gonna type it here anyway: for anyone who's confused about pricing their art, post a sample of your artwork in a commission server and ask for price suggestions. because from what I've learnt, prices could vary around the artstyle, the skill level, and the amount of time you take per drawing (from 5 hours to more) and once you're an artist with a professional commissions background, feel free to set whatever prices you want.
    that's just some tip I wanted to drop here, ty for reading ^^"

    • @tomokokyun
      @tomokokyun  Месяц назад +3

      @@tofuneito NOW THIS IS FACTS!! this is how a lot of ppl start doing commissions and that’s completely fine 😭 we all extremely underprice ourselves at one point
      but exactly how you describe it, is how i kinda start off and still struggle to have a good price in some of my commission pieces :,3
      Theres times where the price is fine but since i get too many commission all at once i need to start high up the prices for it to be worth it 😭 but that usually kinda breaks the momentum of getting a lot of commissions…
      so i can definitely understand ppl’s struggle w pricing 💔 is a mix of going back n forth with your minimum price to your goal price until you have hit a sweet spot or have ppl that can commissions your goal price :3

    14:45 oh god I had someone do this exact thing to me once. They were in some random art server and dmed me randomly asking me if I wanted to buy their art. (I said no to them like twice mind you.) The worst part is that their art was- seemingly either traced or heavily referenced or something like that, as the style was never super consistent and it kinda put me off. As a person who wants to start posting my art and hopefully doing commissions soon, I’d assume this is the first thing that anyone would think NOT to do, but I guess you’d be surprised how many people think its completely acceptable. 😀

    depending on style, a headshot can take up to 10-12 hours. I said that because my headshots in realism take that
    you should charge per hour, so for example if a headshot takes u 1 hour, charge 7, if it takes 2, charge 14/15, if it takes 10, charge somewhere between 50-70, but ofc if you starting you could make 10 hour headshots for 20-30 bucks IF YOURE COMF WITH IT

    Very informative video! I got one problem and could you please help😅
    [Bad english warning. It is not my first language]
    So i started taking commissions and got art orders from two peolpe. I use help from person with paypal and they can only receive money through family&friends. But both of a customers said that they feel uncomfortable paying this way due to risk of being scammed. And then i suggested to send my finished art first and then ask for payment [now i understand it wasn't the best idea...] but they still refused and asked if they could pay through business option...
    Idk what to do🤧

    • @tomokokyun
      @tomokokyun  Месяц назад +2

      @@MaaKaaKaa completely fucking reject their commissions, they are definitely trying to scam you.
      I have commission other artists/have gotten paid through family&friends with no problem. the “issue” they see with friends&family is that when you send the money u cant request a refund through paypal (At least i think u cant, i don’t remember)
      You could also do like how some friends do commissions, they do a test sketch commission, so the client see how does the commission look with your style and maybe pay you for just the sketch.
      Personally i don’t think is worth doing that, but is up to u to decide which option is better for you. I like to stick with no payment upfront, no commission. Since for me that type of excuse seems fishy/scummy to me.

      @tomokokyun  Месяц назад +1

      @@MaaKaaKaa idfk if i shouldve probably added this into my vid about the sending money through “friends&family” or “business option”
      i feel like if the client seems very trustworthy or is a loyal customer of yours, i think its fine doing friends&family.
      Business option… idk i personally get paid/commission artist through friends&family always since i trust that they will deliver the commission/refund me when the commission doesn’t get finished…
      i find business option pretty tricky,
      1) the client can request a refund through paypal, and paypal can take the money without you being able to control it. Thats why on my vid i say to NOT DO REFUNDS because thats what happens most of the time… they can just ask paypal for a refund and you arent able to say yes/no to the refund… they just take the money..
      2) more fees i think? And it has this wack option of address n stuff like its a physical product… i personally dont like it or im conscious that i might dox myself altho (paypal already forcefully doxxes ur irl name anyways 💔)
      But yea idk imo family&friends is just easier :,) but ofc u need to trust that the artist/client will refund u if the commission never gets finished/dont like how its going. Cuz as soon as u send the money through family&friends (i think u cant but im not sure) request a refund/get your money back unless the other person sends it back.
