    • @bpbuilds
      @bpbuilds  11 месяцев назад +1

      Videos will be re released.
      M90 is 90 cubic inches displacement per rev. And was available on many applications. Most popularly the GM 3.8L L67 and L32 V6. As well as ford thunderbird supercoupes. Cheapest of the three.
      M112 is 112 cubic inches per rev. Should have been on the supercharged 4.6L ford DOHC motors. Much more expensive. I haven’t seen any for less than $500 used
      M122 should be the 5.4L lightning series F150 trucks. 122 cubic inches per rev. Much more expensive. I’ve seen even the lower intake manifolds selling for $800.
      Depends on your engine displacement. And desired boost levels.
      I’ve proven 7psi is achievable on a 4.6L V8 using a $45 junkyard 20 year old supercharger.

    I was about ready to start saving for a standalone ECU setup. Didn't know you could buy Advantage Pro III and tune it yourself, like I'd have to do with a $1200 standalone setup anyways. Great stuff as always.

    • @bpbuilds
      @bpbuilds  Год назад +2

      Doing standalone is an option. I did not consider it because I am not aware of any OBD2 compliant aftermarket systems.
      Where I live, I must comply to emissions requirements and they physically plug into the OBD port during annual inspections.
      For this reason I kept the factory ECU.
      The tuning software runs roughly $350. Plus you’ll need a Flash Programmer pass through device like a X4. Which sell for around $450.
      Standalone would require a new or modified harness.
      Just some thoughts.

    • @jesse.vr6
      @jesse.vr6 Год назад

      @@bpbuilds Ah. In new hampshire anything over 20 years old doesn't need emissions. Next year I won't have to worry. Good point though, having OBD2 would be nice instead of carrying a laptop everywhere I go.

      @@bpbuilds I did some research on the SCT software and heard the licensing and customer support is a major pain in the ass and not very customer-friendly. What's your experience with it?

    • @bpbuilds
      @bpbuilds  Год назад +4

      @@jesse.vr6 For SCT. You pay for a single copy of the license for personal use.
      Then they mail you a USB dongle with your personal license key code.
      The software itself is a free download. But you can not run the software without the USB dongle key.
      Only issue had was getting everything activated. Their support was responsive and met my needs. I had to call them because my antivirus was preventing it from installing fully onto my computer.
      The software itself is “clunky”. You definitely need to understand what it is you’re trying to do. And what to modify. It’s not very user friendly. But it’s all there. Picture early windows XP interface.
      It’s just a list of expandable menu options with many parameters.
      You basically are given full access to the entire stock tune. And you modify what you need to modify.
      The challenge seems to be that this is an automatic trans computer. You are trying to operate with a manual transmission. So there are some key parameters to adjust so that it will work
      I plan on making a tuning series

    • @jesse.vr6
      @jesse.vr6 Год назад +2

      @@bpbuilds Doesn't sound too bad. Apparently you can only tune one car, but for $450 that's not TOO bad of a deal... I guess. A tuning series would be super helpful.

    Solid build. What numbers are you getting on the dyno with this setup? I'd really like to know. Thanks in advance.

    • @bpbuilds
      @bpbuilds  6 месяцев назад +5

      My calculations would estimate an additional 75-100 horse above stock.
      I have not had the car on a dyno. However I am running 7psi boost and 1.37 volumetric efficiency.
      Atmospheric air is at 14.7 psi at sea level. So if you can boost an additional 14.7 psi. Theoretically your power would double.
      I am boosting roughly half above that.
      So approximately a 50% improvement from stock is estimated. However intake temps are a concern. So the computer pulls Timing to protect itself.
      Plus I have not optimized air flow with cams. Heads. Or exhaust.
      My plan is to take the car to the drag strip and establish a solid time to compare with my pre supercharger times.
      This would further prove the theory.
      The goal was 5 psi with this build.
      I am more than happy with 7. With a $45 supercharger from the you pull it junkyard.

      I do have a garage that I used for storing parts. But depending on your condo you might be able to do it in the parking lot. Or rent a storage cubicle for a month or something.

      A t45 will work. Based off my research. I have never had my hands on one. Or tried it though.

      With the .62 ratio 5th gear on the TR 3650. VS the .70 ratio on the automatic.
      If you do not change axle ratio, This means lower RPMs on the highway. So it allowed me some room to make the rear axle ratio numerically higher.
      More performance. With little to no change on fuel economy. 1st gear is pretty low. And short. But it cruises very nice in the highway
      I think the choice with this swap is 3.90 vs 4.10.
      If you don’t do a lot of highway driving. I would go 4.10. However that would make first gear even shorter.

      If you have a civilian ratio 2.79. And you’re going through that effort anyways. 3.90 or 4.11 would be my recommendation. 3.55 would be very low rpm on the highway. Unless you’re planning on doing 85 mph on the highway for hours at a time.
