It seems to me as a photographer that the structure is similar to a softbox with depth az least 60cm with a high powered spot lightsource even a projector. I figure the structure must be deep because of the shadow it casts. Hence the effect. I would be suprised of it was flat like a conventional led panel because of the shadow. The window fram casting a shadow what makes this light standout. Its physics. Well done though!
No, that's not how it works. The rays of light are very close to parallel, like real sunlight. In order to do this with a spotlight, it would have to be much deeper than 60cm (more like 6m). The way they actually do it involves a flat edge-lit panel with an array of tiny extraction features that release highly directional light, like direct sunlight. They also use nanoparticles inside the panel to diffuse the blue light, just like sky radiation. Have a read through their patents, it's interesting stuff.
Oh, so it's like a giant waveguide. Interesting. I wonder if you could make the project cheaper by doing away with the scattering and just shifting the spectrum of the LEDS a bit to mimic the distribution of daylight.

Hi, it will work anytime, just like a light as it's pure electric light based using LED technology. You can install this in any building or floor as long as there is enough ceiling void to fit the product. There is a smaller version now you can see a video recently made by us : ruclips.net/video/vDVrd631ThA/видео.html
Seven years later still no actual product anywhere
Plenty of variations are available from companies all over. just google 'coelux' or 'innerscene'
How did they make the light seems like sun shining from further away? I need to buy one and disassemble it myself to see how it works.
It's a special mirror that reflects light in straight lines back at the source. It works same as reflector on any car or bike lights.
It costs $40,000

That's not quite true, look at Coelux's website data sheets. This light would be created using a 6 feet box.

What about clouds and if so do the clouds move?
Hi Melody, no clouds in this instance as it's replicating pure blue sky.
@@KamDhatt there are products which replicate clouds? That would make sense
@@v44n7 No, not yet.

Does the sun move?
Nukubu no its a static point with is preseved to be further away
I can still buy a flat and put a skylight in there for that money.
