Why I can't find the course "The Pilot, The Plane, The Engineer" in skillshare?
Quick Summary:
Capture
-Don’t use your brain as a to-do list as it’s not designed for this process
-Write things down so that you can offload that task and free mental bandwidth
Clarify
-Often, next steps that are not clearly defined are the thing holding productivity back.
-Parse captured ideas into further actions that are easier to accomplish
Organize
-Group the clarified to-do list into categories and groups
Reflect
-Consistently review your overall system to ensure it is getting you the results you are looking for
Engage
-Accomplish the clarified actions from the organized groups
Thank you!!!!!
thank you so much.. it becomes clear
Using Ali's tips against him. He's like a Dr... curing his patients and now we don't need him.
This is better than the video tbh.
Thank u so so much to ppl who write these kind of summaries I can just screenshot it and add it to my resonance calendar instead of writing my own
I have read GTD and have implemented it in my life! My favourite tip for GTD is the 2-minute rule! If something can be done in 2 minutes, DO IT RIGHT THERE AND THEN! If not, THEN CAPTURE it for later! love it! I also have a video on it here on youtube :)
Thanks you.
Please share more such tricks 🙏
Love this rule! I use it too
“The first principle is that you must not fool yourself and you are the easiest person to fool.”
-Richard P. Feynman
Stumbled upon this quote from Tim Feriss' podcast with Naval Navikant. Such an awesome quote, and podcast episode.
Well said 👏🏻👏🏻
Me: Yeah I will do it later?
Me: Will I?
Me: yeah, for sure
Brain: Ha, fooled you again
People often refuse to acknowledge that steps 1-4 account for 20%, but step 5 is *80%.*
If you do not attempt, you do not succeed. To win, you first have to try.
Yo!!! Funny seeing you here! ❤️
@@OlleyThorpe Haha hey!
Yes better, the key factor is: get your ass sit and do the thing, no philosophy can help one other way, it's just the inner consciousness to the importance work.

Few people will notice, that is not a gryffindor hoodie...... but whatever, it looks cute 😍
Who would give Dobbie a frickin gryffindor hoodie?
@@sultanhakim52 😂
It’s an ENS hoodie which stands for « Ecole Normal Supérieure ». It’s a very very prestigious French university.
@@sultanhakim52 Dobbie is a true Gryffindor, died saving his friends.
I discovered David 16 years ago. He literally changed my life. When I need calm, I listen to interviews with him and even just doing 2-minute rule helps so much. Sometimes I feel like ninja when I run my business, just the French can't keep up, lol.
Ever since I watch your videos, I've started asking myself "what's the purpose of (insert whatever)?" and it's been a game changer in everything I do, be it school, work or life in general. I feel more grounded and connected to whatever I'm doing. Thanks as always Ali ❤️
feel like writing things down is so simple but a real game changer. you get so much more mental clarity from doing this and it doesn't seem as overwhelming anymore!
So if you want to be productive and not waste your time while watching this video then skip to 3:48 That's when the real content starts. Thank me later.
Love from Uganda Africa🇺🇬🇺🇬🇺🇬........You have changed my life Ali...I'm forever grateful
The best thing i did in quarantine was to found your channel.
This is the best productivity method i have discovered in my life. My whole life is summarized on one trello board
Really like the way Ali talks, so calming and smooth
Thanks for the free trial! I’ve been wanting to try out skillshare for a long time and now that I have this trial I will finally be able to try it out!
I also want to say thanks for these amazingly interesting videos. I just started medical school a month ago and I try to incorporate as many of your methodes in my studying. I saw your video on Notion a few days ago and I’ve been using it non stop since then. It’s AMAZING!!
Keep up the good work and I’ll keep tuning in!
I have started to watch this channel yesterday. And thought to myself that it would be great to see a video about key principles of productivity.
Hi, I'm a CA (Indian CPA) from India. Your feeds are such a blessing. I absolutely love all your videos. They keep me motivated and on track. Please don't stop making these. Lots of loveeeeee to you
I like the personal application "homework" bit at the end. It would be cool if you continue to do that at the end of future productivity videos. My brain liked that
What you've described resembles me The Bullet Journal Method. It helped me tremendously when I started writing checklists and collections of steps I needed to take to finish some tasks.
This man has influenced me to the level that I've paused this video, will get back to my studies ,will get my topic done and be back here again🎉
"Capture" ali's words and "engage" with the "captured mindset"💜
Already finished the course! one of the best courses I've ever watched!
I just finished the first class on productivity yesterday, looking forward to following this one as well! And I'm currently reading Getting Things Done, so this video and the class couldn't have come at a better time. Great content, as always💫
Thanks for the tips. I struggle with time management once new things appear. It's is very hard. Guess I need to accept that sometimes I will always fail with my time. This video helped a lot with deconstructing that.
from the bottom my heart, thank you
u just made my day lucky to have u in youtube
You have no idea how amazing you are. I am 14 and an aspiring er physician, and you’ve helped me so much in school. I do 10x the work in 10x the time. I even went from 60 wpm typed to 111 wpm in a couple months. Thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks
Yes Ali! Great breakdown still love the overlay effect with the editing! Smashing it man!
Please sir keep posting such videos and also the book recommendations more frequently really love your such videos❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ll definitely add this to my bullet journaling! Thanks!
I definitely have to start reading GTD... Thanks Ali for pushing out these types of videos. I’ve started using Notion because of you and Thomas Frank. Both of you are such veterans in the topic and I’m always inspired by your content. Stay safe friend.
I did homework to write down the things to do on paper and I felt less stressed. Tanks!
Thank you Ali . . . I am a GTD devotee and always enjoy the process and learning different aspects of it. Great presentation . . . .
I'm totally going to use this to try and push out content more regularly. I was genuinely sold with the statement following Capture.
Amazing Book indeed. And great presentation. As usual I took notes and anyone who went through the amazing video above, feel free to use my notes.
01:29 This video is about 5 key principles of Productivity from a must read book "Getting Things Done".
02:57 We need to Keep things tidy on different realms of life (eg: work, home, school etc), at the same time we need to keep the projects on those realms (eg: projects related to home improvement) tidy as well.
03:48 There are 5 steps to achieve Getting Things Done.
03:53 1.Capture: Write down any ideas, tasks and thoughts (100% of them, even if it is your moms birthday coming next month. This 100% is important, because you build trust on your capture system). Brain is just to create ideas. Not a place to store them.
06:11 2.Clarify : Define your tasks well. Write down subtasks. Create easy steps. This stops procrastination.
07:20 3. Organise: Put stuff where it need to go. This gives an easy big picture and enables easy retrieval (eg: reference material for project could go into the project page's resources section in Notion).
07:50 4. Reflect: Do weekly & Monthly reviews.
08:01 5. Engage: Now everything that you have to do is in your system and not in the brain. So, go prioritise tasks and complete.
Ali- Will you do a video on how to practice Active Listening in meetings / Zoom calls while being effective in Note Taking? E.g., How do you lead your team meetings on a Zoom Call while effectively taking notes capturing key decisions, insights, etc.?
Ali for the win! Thanks for making our lives better!
The quality of your videos is just insane !
I bet being human is also one of Dr. Ali's hobbies.😄
Is he actually a doctor? Didn’t he drop out?
@@barefeg That’s Dr. Jubbal that dropped out of plastic residency
@@barefeg No he didn't drop out, he is a doctor. He may be taking a break from actually working shifts somewhere but most doctors do that at some point. Everyone who is a doctor in my family has taken a year off at some point to travel/other interest/children or even to work and get experience in a different area of medicine that would better round them. After finishing college, med school and your residency you've been sprinting so long and need to ease up. My cousin for example took a year off to do flying lessons and travel and a female relative did to have children etc
@@littleripper312 that’s cool
Yeah.
NO WAY! I was going through this book and just put it on my to do list to look up videos about how to implement these things!
"I'll just forget it because I'm a total dumbass"
I have *never* heard a more relatable statement!
Exactly what I needed right now. Thanks Ali.
It's been so long that ur videos r in mi yt recommendations n finally i have thought wt shit lemme give it a click n now here iam daily watching ur videos more than mi lectures... Hope will be able to implement ur productivity strategies step by step one at a time... 🌟
Hey Ali, this video is really awesome! Do you think you could make a separate video based mainly on the capture part? Specifically how you use things 3.
Hi Ali, can you make a video on how to prep for the start of a school year? Like what systems or notebooks we should have set up? Thank you!’

Great video, Ali! Just wanted to say that it'd be great to hear a video about how has your sabbatical being so far. I have decided that I want to take, at least, six months off before grad school (I am currently in a full-time job that keeps me too busy), so your insights may be great. Greetings from Colombia!
Roses are red, violets are blue, Ali used to be a junior doctor and now he drives a Tesla and… you can too??? I guess (tbh I couldn’t make it rhyme)
😂😂😂
Nice try anyway. :q
Roses are red
Voilets are blue
He does everything
I cant do
🤣
still motivational thank you ahaha
The doubt 😂😂 “You can too?? I guess”
It gets me huge amounts of crap from my parents that I write literally everything down.I have a few chronic illnesses and significant brain fog. I cannot keep anything in my head, at all, because I absolutely will forget it. I even forget things as I'm saying or doin them. I've even forgotten where I'm going while driving my car. The hardest thing for me now is keeping track of everything I write down. I'd like to thank you for introducing me to notion because it's turned into a great central place for everything.
Keep fighting that influence from your parents. I'm a chronic pain patient and I let my parents bully me out of the habit for a long time, I was stressed, got nothing done, life fell apart and honestly I got extremely close to ending it. I'm not saying note-taking has saved me, it's not, but it's one of two major steps I took, the other being taking control of my physical health (sleep, working out, nutrition.)
I now go to bed sad every day is over (but content) and wake up extremely excited to start again. I've never been even half as stress-free and happy in my life as now, despite the pandemic and working hard to pick up the pieces of my life despite chronic pain, autism, disabilities, no work experience or education.
Edit: My stepdad is also a chronic pain sufferer and both he and I were actually recommended to do this.
Oh that's interesting, I changed so many things at once (elimination diet, added one by one because oh boy do I have a bunch of intolerances) I can't tell what did what. Sugar is a 100% no-no for me though, in many combinations it makes me swell to twice my size (stomach) it's VERY painful. I had a bit of whipped cream, that alone did it...
I do feel better on more carbs, but I work-out 1-2h a day (strength) and walk/cycle everywhere at a speed making it steady state cardio at the least, so I use them. Was 100% fine on low-carb with a less active lifestyle.
So that's my experience, worth a try! And than you z q, always interesting hearing such experiences.
@@bench2760 Yeah, I also loved IF before my activity levels sky-rocketed, I think for like 95% of the population it's freaking amazing. (If they can get used to it, I never needed to get used to it really.) I relate to mental clarity in the fastened state, it takes a thought of my mind for a big window of the day as small as that difference is.
But I react strongly to having eaten (another benefit of IF was dealing with it once/twice a day) that I bloat, even on foods that in lesser amounts do nothing. It hurts, makes me look 6 months pregnant and makes it hard to move around. So I'm on 5 meals a day now, desperately trying to gain 5kg. :'') Not something you get a lot of compassion for but eh, there's a lot of changes I could make (like driving places) I just don't want to. Fresh air, audiobook and a brisk walk, 10/10 relaxation. Vice versa same thing but w/e.
Sorry to hear about the crap from your parents. It seems that you have a system that works for you so that's grand. Sometimes older generations were brought up to believe memorising everything is good, like a muscle you can train - I wonder if that's the case? While it works for some, it's definitely not for everyone. You do you.
@@blahza12345 I tend to be awful with numbers in dates. I mix them up and reverse them very easily and that was before the brain fog. My wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday are both on the 25th of different months. My daughter's birthday is the 20th. I am eternally thinking the opposite... that my husband's birthday and our wedding anniversary are on the 20th and my daughter's is the 25th. But to my parents, they equate remembering those dates with priority and caring. Since I mix those dates up, I must not care about my wedding anniversary, my husband, or my daughter.
Can you please make a video or even a whole master class on how to make a website. You don't need to go into teaching the code and stuff of course but just how to put it all together and resources to use for every part of it. Thank you and have a great day
Interesting list. I particularly liked Capture as I always find that, until I physically write things down, I constantly have this worry that I'll forget what I need to do. Will definitely be applying that one more. Great vid
Point 2: Clarify - what to do next
Me: close RUclips, bye
Just downloaded the book and I’m ready to get it all in😊
Found your channel about a month ago and have really enjoyed watching your content and videos. Thanks for the content. 😃
Awesome stuff Ali! Love it!
How casually u do promotion is amazing....
I am a big fan of GTD, would love to see some more videos with regards to this as a medical profession - I work in mental health as a therapist and stay super busy with forms, meetings and case management efforts in addition to therapy. Would love to see a 'medical bend' to the GTD mindset. Is that in the series on Skillshare?

Dear Ali, I have been watching your videos for a while now and have taken on a lot of small changes in my habits because of your tips. Thank you for that. However, especially with covid, I have a lot of free time on my hands. I simply cannot determine what it is that I want to be productive in that day, and end up doing next to nothing the entire day.
