One of my favorite tricks for that “off-kilter lofi” feel is to patch an envelope follower into a delay time
That first patch has the best sounding o coast patch i’ve heard
These are wonderful Andrew! Thank you. I love the plucky nature of those patches in the first half. Always enjoy your positivity and lightheartedness. The chaos patch is off the chain man. Full on Divine action. Wild and kooky. I’ve been messing around on the trio for over a year and it just never stops…so many freakishly delightful goodies. The FM 0-coast beat is classic. Taking it to the outer limits. Whoa! Like you said. Hehehe. Freeky deeky subharmonic patch! Super fun and great ideas. Thanks man.
Appreciate you! Glad you’re enjoying this setup too!
Doooooooood! I cannot believe how long it took me to stumble on this. More strange, weird patching is exactly what I crave.
Please feel encouraged to just record and publish whatever patching experiments you feel like making. Doesn't need the entire YT video production treatment.
If you're making mud pies, show the other nerds. We want to see, and share the enthusiasm too.
Cheers.
Really appreciate you taking the time to explore this beautiful trio of instruments, great patch ideas.
I do love how well these three work together for such a unique sonic world... they're very cohesive in their aggressively experiential sound. And your patching is pulling some really cool things out of them! A really cool contained series!
Thank you Andrew. Excellent bunch of ideas to crib from. Very much appreciated 😃👍🏻👍🏻
I haven’t bought into the Strega yet, and I’ve not enjoyed other demos of it- but you use it very well, and I find myself tempted… Good work!
Sweeet bro. Wouldnt have expected this. I love my trio on a sunday afternoon, under the pergola with a beer and sunshine. They are amazing. With all the modular gear you have, you still took time out for these machines. Cheers for that. 👍
Just got this baby, excellent intro that was filled with useful info! I think many guides get bloated with opinions and asides, this was perfect.
5:43 why did I have to think about the vine boom effect 😭
on a serious note tho, I really enjoy these kind of videos
they tickle my brain :D
It's the Vine boom's trashy cousin
You've made the greatest sounds out of these things. You've used the strega's chaos so tastefully
I love the Suture Sound channel so much. Awesome vid, cool ideas.
amazing sounds, and great video !
Good sounds. I can’t wait to get my other two items (Strega and 0-Ctrl) to complete the trio! This gives a great idea of how to approach them as a bundle
I just know how much fun it has to be to mess with this. Recently, I found out about the time modulation on ableton's stock delay and I haven't had so much fun in a while.
10/10 can recommend messing with ableton's delay
Thanks for the great patch ideas. Also, and this is just my own personal opinion, but I really love your videos like this that are chill without a lot of the crazy edits and frenetic energy/ comedy. This one was nice.
These units look like so much fun and seem.likw they would be an excellent set to buy as an intro to semi-modular systems.
So good, thanks for sharing. You always make me want to make more music.
This some next level patching. Respect!
Wow dude, I've never really been all that interested in these until watching this demo. Maybe I need to reconsider, cause that was awesome!
They’re a lot of fun!
ive had the coast for years now. just received the streg 2 months back. ctrl is about to arrive. excited to jam on it!
👋Hi Andrew, cool synth sesh! Hope you're doing well✌
wow, that second patch is an absolute killer
🙏🙏🙏
Yes, getting some real Autechre vibes there, though with a bit more analogue squelch.
Very fun! Thanks for sharing these... I don't yet have a Strega, but I love the idea of playing with a similar sound/rhythm on the 0-Coast (or perhaps the Microvolt). I really love the 0-CTRL...
That sound at 8:04 was almost electric guitar like... (But better since electric guitars suck 😛)
Whoa, this is a really neat trick
That reaction to the feedback was exactly the same as mine 😂
About time!
Have this setup. They are inspirational machines and perfect tools by themself for just sitting down and make a dark drone on a rainy day. But they are defently not for everyone. Its hard to implement them in "happy" songs and everything you put through sounds kind of sad or distorted.
Damn that's a psytrance machine if I've ever seen one
Guess I passed by this vid. Sounds really wicked!
Love these machines! I'm only missing the 0 coast from this set. I really enjoying playing around with this kind of gear for fun, but I'd love to hear how someone like Andrew might incorporate this kind of gear into a more standard kind of song structure too. I really want to do more to incorporate my semi modular gear into my music.
Kinda related - here’s how I used only the Make Noise Shared System + DAW for song creation:

@@suturesound Oh nice!!! Don't know how I missed this one, thanks for sharing!
Loved this! Would to see how you might incorporate this trio into your workflow!
Usually just recording cool stuff and using it in Ableton! I do wish these were more easily rackable as Eurorack modules because I find it smoother to patch within a single system and then I’d more often take things even further with them
@@suturesound Totally get it. I keep them in a three-tiered easel and let them be their own thing. I love my shared system, but there's something really special work with their special limitations. Oh, I also told Make Noise I wanted you do a track for their next Musica Strega compilation. Thanks again for the awesome patch ideas. Super inspiring.
@@suturesound I love how you talk about using the 0 ctrl to intuitively find grooves, and I also have found that really rewarding. Do you have any tips for how to then record that into ableton and build on top of that groove? I’ve found a bit challenging when working with unsynced 0 ctrl rhythms
9:51 Train?
Lost count of the amount of times I’ve “fm’d” myself
at 5:05 i seriously thought this was something by Flume LMAO
How have I never seen them laid out in this triforce configuration?! Perfect fit and strangely sexual...
Really though, these were some of the coolest patches I've heard with these beauts.
It's FMing itself. LOL
Real cool patches! Im thinking about getting in to modular but I dont have a lot of money. What would you recomend?
Definitely use vcv rack to start and learn it. That will help you infinitely to eventually design a good synth for you and invest into hardware if you want to
👍i LoVe !

please. stop. giving. me. GAS. 😉 🐜
Modular stuff sounds so good...but its just too much time consuming creating it all....when somebodybcomes up a way how to have modular presets am all in.
Completely academic, maybe 15/16 rather than 5/4 for the groovy opening sequence
It's "no coast", not "zero coast". The latter makes no sense in relation to the concept behind it.
Heard Tony Rolando on a podcast say that “oh coast” “no coast” and “zero coast” are all acceptable to him. I think it might have been Podular Modcast. Highly recommend!
Too "punk" for me but great presentation as always.
This video keeps throwing me off. I’m used to the 0-coast and 0-control pronounced “no-coast” and “no-control”
First
...I wish I could see you once actually patching Make Noise gear, but I don't believe you could do it...this is all patched by someone who appreciates noise and can actually sound design...you cannot! this video is terrible, I'd recommend you'd be better off if you just play with presets...
