I honestly think that the host of the tournament thought Dilly teabagged an enemy, and when he realized he didn't, he didn't want to/didn't know how to retract that statement because he didn't want to sound like an idiot.
I love how the official response they give is full of misinformation, lies, childish rambling and then they show two messages of dilly saying fuck in them to prove he was “toxic”… despite their own admin saying fuck several times in the barely minute long clip where he bans them… the clip they are claiming was somehow edited and taken out of context to fit dilly’s narrative despite the only edit being to zoom and show he is the only pathfinder.
an example on how they could have replied: "While we understand that this specific incident was a gesture between friends, we are choosing to update our policy on good sportsmanship to include any behavior toward teammates or friends. From this day forward we no longer allow any form of t-bagging or poor sportsmanship toward any person in our tournament. Thank you." no bans, no bad publicity, no anger, no story.

The fact the game itself has "finishers" that mock and insult the player after killing them is worst than "tea bagging" better ban all players for toxic behaviour
the fact that pathfinder (the character got t-bagged) has an actual ingame emote that shows him doing the t-bag. that's likely the best thing ever, they basically say this is toxic and unprofessional, yet Respawn put an actual emote in the game where the robot spins around slowly to then proceed to t-bag.
Ikr? Characters will literally call you trash after shooting you in the face or stamping on your neck, but if somebody crouches on you they're toxic and must be banned. Also there's that pathfinder squats emote that serves no other purpose than to be used as an alt tbag

that's what confused me lmao they banned the whole team because one guy teabagged another teammate, then say "teabagging is unsportsmen-like and toxic" just to punish the 'victim' that got teabagged?
The fact that they had to ban the supposed “victim” in this case in order to enforce the overall ban just shows how weak and nonsensical their argument is
So basically: "We got power hungry and banned you unfairly, however, since you let everyone know about our terrible management and administration you're now permanently banned." Feels like blackmail to me.
Yeah the the whole seems bewildering at first but as you slowly realize that it was actually written by the owner, who is the same person that gave the initial "verbal" ban and doubled down live on stream, everything starts making a whole lot more sense. He also clearly did not consult anyone else the Fate Legion "team" because you can see his train of thought progress as he writes his dissertation, without any sign of an editor's touch to create a cohesive statement. He initially tries to distance himself as if this is the statement of Fate Legion as a whole, referring to the person who gave the ban as the "shoutcaster/owner" but then later when discussing their authority in the scene refers to himself as "I the owner" so in the hours since he started typing this up he forgot his original plan to act like he wasn't the one writing this in the first place. Also I find it hilarious that he says they could have resolved this by submitting an appeal, when he himself, the owner, said live on stream to them that it was non-negotiable even if it was a teammate, and when they're tried to discuss why he cut them off and said he wasn't going to allow them to try to keyboard warrior their way out of the ban. So they should have submitted an appeal, despite being told by the owner that it was non-negotiable, and the possibility to appeal was never even mentioned, yet that appeal would've resolved this as long as it had proof, but they were already told that proven or not they'd be banned anyways because it doesn't matter if it was a teammate. It's one thing if it's in the heat of the moment and you get flustered and double down. You know, not excusable, but if you apologize in good faith and come to your senses it's understandable. This though, this is him after having over a day to let the reality of what happened sink in, and this convoluted circular self justifying logical nonsense is what he decided on when given time to collect himself. Honestly he could have acknowledged any kind of excessively negative harassment this led to from the community, but also apologized for his own poorly thought out reaction to the initial incident and compromised, likely saving Fate Legion. Instead he chose uncompromising hubris. Bold choice.

@Mirsty But the host compared it to real life sports and sportsmanship, that's why we all know he'd be a shit castor if he ever led something like a tennis tournament.
It's kinda goofy how this ban feels more toxic that the actual thing the guy was banned for. He could have just not said ANYTHING and it would have felt less disrespectful than this.

Team dynamic is something people enjoy, having a team that mess around with each other and are just there to have fun in a harmless way, is fun and enjoyable to watch. Banning that makes your tournament boring, and makes the entire event less fun.

Everyone has been there. Teabagging an enemy laughing your ass off then you get blasted in the process. Then said guy comes and 3rd party tea bags you. Probably the best part of gaming for me.
Friends: laughing Host: Bruh laughing is toxic, it's against the rules and unsportsmanship to laugh or make your friends laugh at the expense of nobody If anything, their rule that was "broken" was completely the opposite, the teabagging WAS wanted, and of course wasn't is anyway against any of the topics they listed like race or religion. All they did with this was expose and admit that the tournament host was breaking their own rules by engaging in arguments and shouting, and not being banned, so they are not only hypocrits, but they don't even know who to be hypocritical against as the people were not doing anything wrong until after an unfair disqualification. What is this twitch? Not banning the staff for breaking rules is like not banning hot tub streams because they are some of the biggest earners on the platform, a VIP with essentially diplomatic immunity.
To be honest you make a point with the laughing joke, because when you get down to it anything can be considered toxic. What they're essentially telling dilly is "inside jokes are toxic" and as for the whole not punishing the caster, that destroys the whole "rules for thee, not for me" sentiment, and would basically be them admitting their wrong, which base on what I've heard is something that's completely foreign to them. I just can't get over the part where it says how t-bagging is usually followed buy unsportsmanlike wording, so what I'm hearing is because SOME people aren't the best sports, because SOME people get too into the game and can't control themselves, that means that the action as a whole is banned. Some people are being stupid, and EVERYONE is having to suffer a consequence that you didn't even specify.
So let me get this straight. In their eyes tbagging a teammate is unsportsmanlike and Dilly disrespcted, abused, or upset his teammate. But then they go ahead and ban his teammate too? So who's the victim here? Is there a victim? Would you BAN a victim?

One of the many reasons I don't bother gaming anymore
Crazy how tbagging stirs the pot. It's literally your own teammate, so much character development is involved in communication and knowing your team. Their humor on their own teammate is great.
The worst part of this to me is the whole logic of "obviously you should have know that it was just a verbal ban that didn't actually mean anything we were just kidding" like ????? You banned the guy, he explained the situation and you doubled down. Why would he think that this ban isn't set in stone?? He had absolutely every right to think that.
I like how they do this whole “it was for our viewers” claim when the viewers are upset about the stupid ban too. Those who aren’t have never had fun with friends in a game. Teabagging your own friend and everyone involved having a giggle about it isn’t unsportsmanlike in any way. There is no victim, and if anything seeing the bond between teammates only makes watching it fun. But in degrading that fun aspect, they’ve degraded their own tournament.

I don't know if anyone will remember this but this kind of reminds me of the time where a bunch of people were trying to make a gaming police where if you insult or make fun of anyone they could just call the gaming police and banned you in any game
This reminds me of something that happened in 8th grade Me and my friends, sitting together at lunch, and one of them gets up to talk to another buddy, I try to get their attention because I had a funny joke, and it doesn't work so instead I tug on their sleeve and tell them the joke. 3 seconds later, some lunch supervisor runs up to me, slaps my hand for some reason and yells at me for "assaulting them", then proceeded to explain what assault was like I was in kindergarten, even though this person knows very well that we are in eighth grade lunch. Both me and my friend (the "victim") tell the supervisor that they are overreacting, and that that's not what actually happened. You'd think they would stop there, right? They got frustrated, and called the principal which has an unreasonable bias against me. (As in I was being watched for 1 wrong move from week 1) He then brought me, my friend, and the supervisor into a room. Me and my friend explained why what they are saying is wrong, and they started making up complete bs. "I told them 1000 times to stop but he wouldn't listen! He savagely attacked that child with a spork!" And belive it or not, the principal actually buys it. He believes every single word, even though the VICTIM is saying that what she is saying is not true. We then had to sit separated for the rest of the school year, and both the principal and supervisor got away with this scot free. Really?
gotta love how they excuse the initial ban as a "heat of the moment" decision that didn't hold any weight while simultaniously condemning the people that were banned for having a heat of the moment response to said ban

The one point I kinda wanna target is their thing about being new to e-sports tournament organizing: I'm pretty sure they aren't lying there. I've been following these guys for a few years now, from even before they were Fate Legion (they used to be called Figure 8 E-sports and I guess they just condensed it down to "F8 > Fate" somewhere along the way). They always came off as very amateurish, even after the rebrand. I remember back when they were still Figure 8 they posted a clip of a player under their banner getting an "insane 5k in CS!!" but it was against bots and he was using the auto sniper (I went and looked, everything from when they were Figure 8 is gone from their Instagram so I can't corroborate that at all unfortunately). Their whole page was littered with pretty sub-par clips with the occasional cool play -- the reason I followed them in the first place was because of a Rocket League player that seemed to play for them that had some cool clips. After a while I was following them more for these sub-par plays purely for entertainment, and the good stuff became a little rarer. They always struck me as earnest but new and not particularly good at video games. It's kinda funny seeing them blow up like this when they've been tiny the whole time I've known about them. I don't disagree that this is a gross mishandling of the situation, but they are definitely very new to tournament organizing. I think they just didn't want to get caught in any scandal at all and overreacted, and ended up being way too safe in response. This whole second response is definitely icing on the cake though - but not particularly surprising given what I've seen from these guys in the past.
I like how they ADMITTED to a lack of transparency in their rules regarding "sportsmanship." Normally, this would warrant a warning or a slap on the wrist instead of a permanent ban. Not according to these chuckleheads, though.

Summary: he doesn’t want to admit he’s wrong for banning their team.

All they did with this was expose and admit that the tournament host was breaking their own rules by engaging in arguments and shouting, and not being banned, so they are not only hypocrits, but they don't even know who to be hypocritical against as the people were not doing anything wrong until after an unfair disqualification.

The emote argument is a really good point. What if instead of tea bagging he used an emote, an ingame mechanic, even after he killed someone. What is the purpose of emotes anyway? When are we supposed to use them? Would that be more bannable than pressing the control button 3 times?

If they do they have no players for tournaments.
This needs to happen 😂
This just makes me want to host my own tournament where you’re REQUIRED to teabag a killed or downed opponent
That actually sounds kinda fun. You have to start thinking about where the bodies of your opponents are so that you can both teabag them in time and not die while teabagging.
Splitgate sometimes has a mode called teabag confirmed and you also teabag your teammates bodies to deny kills
Do it. Be the safe space.
You have to teabag someone or they revive 😂
Isn't there a game some years ago where the whole point of it is to down the enemy, then teabag them so they will permanently die, but their teammates can stop you and revive them.
If these people can’t handle tea bagging in game, than I cant imagine how they’ll react when they find out that people are actually killing each other in games too.

This seems almost intentional, making rules so vague that they can twist them to mean anything they want. This is an abomination of a PR statement. I’m going in circles thinking of why they’d do something like this.
