    I have a KTM 690 Adventure R, and I’m seriously considering getting one of these. I came down from big BMWs, and to a Husky Norden 901. I keep getting smaller the older I get.

    I have a 2021 and it's great. I have blown my fork seals once already bottoming out the suspension and broke the plastic hand guard, clutch level and a couple turn signals, but that's bound to happen on an adventure bike.

      @Lemmingadventures Год назад

      @@zetalita3241well I bought the bike when it had 4000 miles on it and now it has almost 8000 miles. The throttle went bad and was replaced under warranty. The stalling issue was worse but now is much better and I don't know why. Chain sucks and stretches very easily even though I ride relatively normal. Front forks took a shit after first real dirt session and bottomed out my forks. It is using a little oil after long, highway miles which is a new thing. Not too bad but still a little surprised. Everything besides the throttle has been my fault. It is reliable and fun and capable.

    Can you share the link of the quad lock mount? Thank you I really appreciate it

    • @robdabney
      @robdabney  Год назад +1

      Sure. Go to www.quadlockcase.com/collections/shop-motorcycle and look for the 1" ball adaptor option for your phone. Then you need a standard 1" Ram arm and flat surface 1" Ram ball attachment to screw into the stock KTM 390 plastic GPS mount cover. There are several aftermarket options to put a ram ball mount on the 390 but I fabricated a free one for this project.

    I have a 2023 390 ADV and, sometimes, it stalls when stopped at a stop light. That is a first for me after owning two street bikes and two large cruisers that never did that. I think the idle is set too low which causes the stall. Anything I can do about that? Also, in the above video, the 390's have been modified with a all metal skid plates which is an option from the standard hard plastic one.

    • @robdabney
      @robdabney  Год назад +4

      That's strange. I've ridden significant miles on a few different 390s and never had that problem. I would take it in to the dealer and get it fixed under warranty. Perhaps its a simple idle adjustment or maybe there's something else going on like a clogged air filter or dirt in the fuel system.

    • @guzziguy2011
      @guzziguy2011 Год назад +1

      My Svartpilen 401 has stalled into rolling stops on numerous occasions. Likely a mapping issue. Interestingly tho, it’s not done so past few months since I’ve moved to mountains in NC. Maybe it’s a fuel/air density thing? Not really a problem once you learn to quickly clutch and mash the starter button lol.

    • @robdabney
      @robdabney  Год назад +1

      @@misscelliott6LAD So the cheap and easy way to do it is remove the stock GPS plastic cap, drill a couple holes in it, attach a flat surface Ball mount, then reinstall it. Then you can put a standard Ram ball arm on it and use the Quad Lock Ram ball attachment. It's proven to be a sturdy mount for a few years now.

    • @robdabney
      @robdabney  Год назад +1

      I'm 6'2" with a 34" inseam. It definitely doesn't feel tall to me. I like the 390 better with the OEM single-piece enduro seat because it raises it a little. Bar risers are nice too.

    • @gregjoubert5118
      @gregjoubert5118 Год назад

      @@robdabney How are the overall ergonomics for you? I am 6'3'' and I have read for taller riders the bars are too low and the pegs are too high. This is especially so when standing. Great video. Thanks!

    • @robdabney
      @robdabney  Год назад +1

      @@gregjoubert5118 Yeah, the ergos aren't great for standing for taller riders. The bars need to be rolled forward at a minimum. But you can easily add KTM's 1" risers. The footpegs are not too high but they do need to be swapped. They are angled forward slightly which makes it hard to stand on the pegs. • @robdabney
      @robdabney  Год назад +2

      Never had any issues. But spokes give a nicer ride in the rocks because they give a little. Also, less worry about damaging a wheel. And of course they look cool! But the stock cast 390 wheels do pretty good. Not something you really have to upgrade unless you are going gungho on the trails a lot.

    These guys are not professionals, they don't have safety distance between bikes and they park in places where they block others or make a pass difficult. Whatever their skills in driving, this is not an example to follow within a group. Best way to have accidents for no reasons but only carelesness,
