I just wanted an honest review of the Himalayan or other smaller bikes without aggressively comparing them to the much bigger and more expensive brothers.
You gave me exactly what I've been looking for. Just good content with the Himalayan and 390, you respected the bikes for what they are and gave honest opinions. We may not share the same opinions on everything (I quite like the Himalayan.. it's a nice looking bike.) but I'm glad I watched.

      @mrvk699 4 года назад +29

@@iam7382 Bro. If you have Budget then Go For KTM adventure.
I loved the Himalayan for What it's good at. But I miss what's not it's good at - e.g. KTM can cruise happily at 120 while HIMALAYAN is capable to do 120 but I am Happy Cruising it around 80-95 kmph. On highways. Because 1. High speed is Not Allowed on Indian Highways. 2. You better ride safely, rash driving Challans are issued to everyone driving over 100 kmph. 3. Himalayan has 5 gears vs 6 gears on KTM.
The Himalayan is a more traditional proven 4-5 year Refined bike with International Moto Vlogger Vouching for it's reliability after doing World Trip over this Machine.
But In the End you should Decide what u want. kTM is a more faster and equally capable bike. Even though as a Adventure bike the Traditional design of Himalayan has many pros, but so does the Funky design and Ktm Duke inspired ktm Adventure has it's pros.
In the End if You can't decide think this - does the 1.5 Lakh make "You" a better driver or more adventerous and the answer is no - It is you Mister and what u do with either a ₹42,000 bike or a ₹2.40 lac Himalayan or a ₹3.5 lakh KTM adventure duke That matters. The only thing that will change is the speed when u reach the destination and the comfort.
If you just want to travel the World, My Solid advice is Buy a Hero Xpulse 200. And Use it, Spend the other 1 lakh on Roaming around India Instead of Begging parents for More Money because u spent 3.5 lakhs on a KTM because it had more gears and more flashy.

I agree with you, instead of that Japanese brands are making bland street bikes disguised as adventure bikes, I think in the past were called dual sport bikes; Kawasaki are trying to fill the gap of the klr 650 with the versys 300, In some markets suzuki stop selling dr and drz and selling the vstrom 250. I like the ktm 390 but I would like a little more off road of it, the RE seems really under power regardless the torque every people here talk about it, Indian people claim is a tourer, and maybe for India it is they don’t go more that 100kms/hr. But in many countries we need at least 120-130 to talk about touring, in the segment 250-500 cc I think the ktm could be the one, because of power-weight ratio

So, if I want to do 120kms/hr should get a street bike? The Himalayan is the only one adv bike over the 300cc can’t do it.
Lightweight?? It’s heavier than a suzuki dr650 or about the same as a klr650 with half the power and torque, I really want to like the RE, but it needs more power, if RE put the 650 twin on it, they will hit the sweet spot of medium light adv bikes

  • @grandmastergooch

Himmy owner here, I think the appeal to it tho is that so many have been sold during the time when everyone heard the rumors of the 390 adv coming soon yet so much of the capabilities of the REH have been shown, its simple and very easy to operate. During that time its pretty much established itself as the mini KLR650 and the fact that its more of an older design and that maintenance is easier. For the price of the KTM tho, you can get the panniers and some add-ons, like a chip, to help it reach the higher speed limits. To me the simplicity and ease of riding, where its difficult to get into trouble, are the key features. I'd love to try a KTM tho...

I would love for it to have just 5-10 more horsepower, it would make it more enjoyable on road and och nice gravel roads. It is a bit sluggish in standard trim. But for just plodding along, I can't think of any NEW bike in the price range that can beat it.

I myself just bought the 390 after a decade+ on a 09 KLR650. Agreed! Very fun bike. Has surprised me every time I take it out for an adventure. Point to make, adjust the handlebars more forward then it came. Easier for stand riding. Plus the armor upgrade (skid plate) has been on back order for 6 months now. Really would like to take it places my KLR went but not until armor is in place. Keep Moving Forward!

Great video. I used to ride a Triumph Tiger Trail 750 through stuff like that in the 80s with the muffler off. I had to pick up a guy with an injured arm after he decked his Yamaha 400. He thought I was going to stall it going up a rugged trail. Told him I was taking it slow because of his arm, opened it up . Tall gearing, single carb..no worries. The other group heard the Tiger coming through the bush, they thought what the hell was that. In Australia Himalayan’s go for about Aus $6,700.

I got the KTM 390 Adventure and am loving it, got 3,500 + Km on so far, still waiting for the better bash plate, before taking it on the rough stuff, I wanted to put bar risers on but when tried could only go with 10 mm and then had to have the hand guards way to low. But after checking it out found out that they put the wrong hand guards on. Going in Monday to see if they will get me the wright ones for the 390. That is the only thing I would like to change is get the handle bars up a bit higher. Ok sitting but when standing they are too low for me. I also went with the Dunlop TrailMax Mission tires, finding them very good on the paved and on the gravel roads. Again thanks for the video, it is nice to see what that bike can do, witch is more than I will ever try, but will be hitting some light single track and very rough gravel and dirt roads, now that I see it can handle them.

I'm a proud owner of an 2019 bs4 Himalayan, 31.000 km w/o any issues. This bike can go anywhere. And I don't think is ugly, maybe is weird looks but not ugly, wherever I park it people came to ask about it and even take pictures. It has some issues like the side stand needed to be change the angle as bike tends to fall of, the front light is too heavy so the plastic case broke, also the turn lights are not flexible so they also broke. I've repair the front light with glue and some black duck tape and issue solved and used black electric tape so the turn light become flexible. The wind protection should be a bit higher. You did not mention de dash compass, some think is silly but I've use it instead of gps and never got lost if you know how to navigate it is very usefull. Great mileage per fuel litre, cheap parts and very easy to service the engine.

From the video, what I understood:
    1. KTM performed as expected. It justified the tag and performed great overall. It's nimble, lightweight and you can throw it around without a sweat
    2. The Himalayan just about manages to hold it's ground. It doesn't disappoint anywhere, but it isn't really great at anything either. It basically does the job.
All the Indian reviewers have been bashing the KTM unnecessarily when most of them can't ride off-road. Most of them can't even ride on the track and have little to no skills barring a very few guys.
The Himalayan although nice, is like a budget smartphone. It does the job. KTM is more like that mid tier phone that offers a lot of things, is good at lot of them as well but isn't really flagship.
