    The older guys/gals that join are usually more focused, make rank quicker and have their priorities in line.

    I think 21 is a perfect age (even though i joined at 27). Because you will want to go out and be able to drink and get away from the youngsters. And you have plenty of time to retire at a great age and by the time your 30 you could possibly be an E6 or chief making great money.

    Thanks for this. I’m a 19 year old black woman about to move to london on my own as an international student. I never had a dream or a passion but my ultimate goal has always been to work hard and be financially stable enough to support myself and my family in the future. Being in the Navy would give me that. I don’t see my future in London nor do I see it staying at home w my family. And before watching this I started to regret my choice moving to London for financial reasons. But this encouraged me to live it up..make the absolute best of my time there as a teenager/early 20’s (even though I’m going to struggle paying tuition and have some student debt afterwards). The navy feels like the right direction for me for many reasons, one of them being that my uncle and his daughter both went down this path. I’ll be 22 by the time I graduate and my student visa expires, so I think I’m going to return to the us and apply for the navy 🤞

    Petty Officer, I left for RTC Feb. 7 and I just got out yesterday. Unfortunately I was separated due to a food allergy. I was 2 days away from battle stations. It was heartbreaking to leave my division especially so late in training. Simply put I learned a lot in bootcamp, I can talk for hours about my experience in RTC. I am still focused on joining Navy, if anything I'm even more driven and motivated with everything I've gone through. Luckily I am able to reenlist but I have to wait some time. About the perfect age to join. I agree with you , should have joined 10 years ago. When I reenlist I will be 30. The up side on joining when you are a little bit older. I entered with a more mature state of mind. I was ready to deal with the "breaking you down" aspect of bootcamp. And being more mature than most of the recruits, you will find yourself being the older brother to a lot of the guys in bootcamp, with out even trying. And also you mentioned 34 is the cut off? There was this guy in my division the man was 38 he was older than our 1st RDC. This man was insanely fit. He was doing the mile and a half in 10:30. That dude is a beast.
    Oh yeah if the times don't add up it's because while at Seps I tried to fight my case and get sent back into training which is a process that takes about a month. I'm still driven. In the meantime it feels good to relax.

      Angelo Quinto yeah I remember you I’m so sorry you got separated that really sucks. You seem motivated and I see you being a sailor in no time just keep that mentality. I was told they changed the age from 34 to 39 in 2018. Now you know what to expect when you go through RTC again.

    Different topic, but if you go in as an e-1 and volunteer to be in a 900 division all though I don't have a color guard background or njrotc, could I still rank up if I picked a job while in a 900 division? I'm confident I'll be able to pass all the tests in bootcamp, but how many people actually get from e-1 to e-3 in each graduation? Is there like 3 per division? Thank you in advance !:)

    • @theofficialdaveharris8794
      @theofficialdaveharris8794  5 лет назад +1

      E.M.Y. That I don’t know but I will still try. I’m pretty sure you can rank up in the 900 division if you pick a job do it just in case. We had quite a few make rank. Everyone that passed all the test even the fitness part made rank plus the 10 % Promoted by the RDC. Just score high on the test and pick a job that does a lot for the division like laundry PO.

      E.M.Y. I have a video about making rank in bootcamp check it out but basically the RDC is allowed to promote 10 percent of the division. Say it’s 80 people in your division the RDC with promote 8. Its the people that stood out and had the top jobs in the division like Aroc, Rpoc, Master at arms, Laundry PO etc...

    • @theofficialdaveharris8794
      @theofficialdaveharris8794  5 лет назад +1

      Gregori Viegas congratulations that’s not a bad rate from what I seen they work on phones and manage playing movies on the ship. I know a IC his only job was to play movies for the ship he would start stop and change the movies when they went off. We had a certain channel that only played movies and he was the person that manage that. And since you worked on phones your able to set them up where you can call home everyday on deployment if you want. Plus if you get out you can make good money in the civilian world!!

Don’t settle for someone who barely texts, and calls you throughout the day. ESPECIALLY LONG DISTANCE. Even being in the navy on shore duty there’s no reason you can’t communicate with your loved ones. I hope you make the right decision and never wait for any man giving you half ass effort ❤️ be blessed.
