I have the B7K Ultra and I love it. Planning to get some version of the Alpha Omega at some point as well, be it the ultra or the omicron, I haven't decided.
At this point I’m MORE confused about the whole bass preamp thing. I already have a big keyboard amp that I’m always hauling around, should I just think fancy preamp pedal into my Roland kc550, or do I really want to go basscab plus basshead. The cab sims are great these days, plenty of gain stage/EQ/overdrive, etc…so I don’t really know if I want my preamp to be a stronger distortion like this, something like their Microtubes vintage, or something cleaner like the Jones (Phil?). What stage in the signal is the best to put a Darkglass? Last stage, middle, or early?
man no offense, but I thought at first you were speaking german :DD. Nevertheless, I found Darkglass series far from affordable range for non-professional players but Alpha Omega Ultra has the most versatility, so yeah its the best imo. Cheers!
I have the B7KU and it's great for a variety of genres, I'd only go for AOU if you're into metal - and then if you want LOTS of gain for your bass, the B7K can do metal too, just not a very very distorted sound. In general the review videos are on spot, you hear the sound you'll get
“It provides a variety of useable low gain sounds!” Proceeds to play trans-Iranian-gypsy-fusion on a 14 string baritone banjo bass. Can someone make a video for this pedal that shows actual tones for actual music?
they are definitely targeting a specific market. Bass overdrive is surprisingly useful in a band setting (like light overdrive, classic SVT style). Bass distortion isnt used as often, but when its the right tool, the AO is pretty awesome.
Brian Callahan has a video called: AOU - check it if you don't believe me. ruclips.net/video/NH8kFekH6BE/видео.html I've got the same results, with different cables, amps and power supply.
Greg McRazy check the problem with dark glass support/store where you bought it. I have less white noise then in your video . My B3K by dark glass much more noisy. But I don't care, I use boss ns2 pedal and it halps me.
Being a gig bass player for 10 years can say: it is very good thing but not for everybody - maybe just for studio. For a bunch of players all these cab sim and other "cool" features can be useless but you will pay for them and this one of the most expensive pedal on the market as a lot of people will use it like SansAmp - which stays in the market forever and you can buy it second hand for a price of pizza. But of course Darkglass is so fancy and stylish and a lot of modern guys use it :-) this product faced of course to young players who listen heavy stuff. What I really hate about their products - that you can't use it with 9V battery - just adapter, ecology bla bla bla... So the key is to focus on playing but not equipment, and if you limited in money - it is better to spend them on good bass guitar but not on fancy stuff which appears every year.
Really? You're upset that there's a company that actually considers environmental damage when designing their products? You need to have your brain examined. If you have one.
ART band I agree with you about good bass guitar and problem of 9v battery in dark glass products. About alfa Omega ultra I can say , when I bought this pedal , I sold my sansamp! Sansamp is good pedal but it is change natural sound of your bass. Alfa Omega ultra doesn't change the sound it's just sounds good by it self. Highly recommend pedal!

I have this pedal since last week and it blows all. Played with an Ampeg and tomorrow it will tested in a studio record. Its amazing!
What’s your favorite Darkglass pedal?
The ones I can afford :P
Leonidas Desert
Sooo, none of them, lol. JK

I only have the duality fuzz so far. Very fun but hope to get others.
3:37 can the EQ be used as a preamp without engaging Distortion?
Relax Jack Yes it can, the distortion is on a separate channel that can be turned on or off with the footswitch
Have you or are you going to do a review of the dUg Pinnick DP3X pedal from Tech 21?
Take the best bass pedal (probably), and make it even better. Darkglass Alpha•Omega.
Hi i have this pedal(professional tool) , mixing my b3k with Alfa Omega ultra. This pedal make Very very happy.:))
Nice! I have B3K and want to pair it with an AO ultra too, does it sound killer and work well?

same :-D
Ok, so it's not just me
Same, I had to rewatch parts to understand it.
Hahaha I was also surprised hearing english after the first seconds
Can someone please explain what is a high gain distortion?
A distortion that distorts a lot.
@@basstheworldofficial thanks for the reply!
sounds great , taste better
alpha o ultra 😍
This or B7k Ultra? My budget is limited, I hope someone can enlighten me.
AOU if need lots of gain - B7KU if your sound is a bit more moderate. I think the B7K is a bit more versatile

Thanks everyone. I watched a couple of other reviews. I'm gonna go with B7k Ultra as I don't need to much distortion.
i have a question what is the name of the second efect?
Second effect? There’s 2 detuned octaves and some modulation on the Fretless part, if that’s what you’re referring to
Joe Dart Bobblehead!

I think 95% of the viewers don' t really need this hyper distortion. It is so necessary to me like driving a Lamborghini

I am happy sitting in with the other 5%
Yeah I feel you.
Just returned mine to shop. When you try use it as a preamp, it generates so much noise/hiss that's just useless. Feel warned.
I can’t confirm that
Greg McRazy I use it as a preamp and it's beautiful. Not sure what the hell you were experiencing
Greg McRazy it has just a little white noise, when I plud pedal in amp in. But no noise when I connect it xlr/ di. Check your cables/power supply
