Let me know if you guys wanna see more videos like this. I started my tekken journey only a few years ago so I feel I have a unique perspective on being a new player, as I experienced being new to tekken far more recently then most other creators. I know its rough starting out but just keep focusing on your improvement and you will see results. Don't give up!

This video is what I need right now. Especially now. I'm at +/- 11-13 Dan and I'm loosing my mind. Can't win anything, can't move even. Only thing I can do is to watch my ass being kicked time after time. But promised to myself that I won't give up. And then your video showed up. It's nice to know that this is normal. Kinda feel better now. Thank you.

I don't care about the rank, but I do care about playing against people with the same resources than me. They all play with the simplified combos and juet by pressing one or two buttons they get my HP chipped by 1/4 or more. No matter how much I block, they do Heat Engages. No matter how much I dodge or parry, they still keep spamming. No matter how low I get them. They always survive my last hit just at 1 pixel in order to Rage Art me and kill me. It's so damn frustrating. Last Tekken I played seriously was Tekken 5 and I wanted to go all in with Tekken 8, but they don't make it fun at all for me...

Any chance you could do one of those 'im playing reina online and this is my thought process as I'm playing the match ' type of video? I always feel knowing why and when something is done, the reasoning behind what youre doing, helps the most when learning. I saw mainman do similar, but he's a kazuya player.

I agree with all of this. The multiple character and mental state. I have a bit of a short temper, not just in tekken, but in general. Im working on it and im alot better with it in and out of Tekken.
I find if i start getting frustrated switching between my 3 favorites Reina, Victor, and King really helps. It just kinda puts me in a new mental state and turns it all around.

This helps so much. I'm still new to Tekken 8. I played Tekken 7 but never seriously invested time into it until I decided to become more invested in the fighting game genre. I come from SF6 to Tekken 8 so there is a big leap in game mechanics and such. So far I main Steve because I like the boxer style of fighting plus he has no kicks lol (really committing to boxing). I knew beforehand that I am at a big disadvantage plus he has a counter hit play style which is something I am not use to. I made it out of the blue ranks and now I am stuck in green ranks with, like you mentioned in the video, low levels just spamming and mashing buttons. It's frustrating not knowing what to do or nothing you do works, and you just see yourself lose because someone was just spamming. This has made on some occassions to just think about destroying my controller because I can't do nothing about it. However, this video helps a lot with how to improve because I want to be in the top ranks with Steve (Red and Gold ranks btw). I am trying to improve on sidestepping because the 3D movement takes some time to understand and I've been watching replays of top Steve players to see what they do that I am not. Lastly, there are other game mechanics that I still need to understand like blocking and how to punish, or landing combos. I'm just on a little 2 - 3 day break because I need time off of Tekken lol. I will still keep going and trying to improve with Steve.

I'll lose easily if I'm afraid to demote or promote, cause I always play with the same move and same patterns with mindset "It's safe zone" and certainly I'm always stuck at Destroyers for 2 weeks. But after look at this video I try to have fun and learning to get out of my comfort zone. now I'm grow to Shinryu in 2 days. Thank you very much and hope you make good video like this again.

Thank you so much for this video. I really needed that, especially your thoughts about the mind game. I am a total beginner and in the middle of the green rank now. So far, I encountered over a hundred ranked online battles - and only left 16 of them as a winner... My problem is, that I beginn to "panic button mash" as soon as I am in an online match... I really do not seem to learn and remember the combos, despite practicing hours and hours in practice mode and choosing Jin, who so many advanced players recommended as a beginner friendly main in Tekken 8. Also I am practicing a lot with the ghosts of players I lost against and try to learn punishing (which I absolutely can NOT successfully do at the moment).
Loosing hurts even more, if you are a passionate player like me, who loves to dive into videogames since over 25 years. I even mastered the Dark Souls Triology, Sekiro, Bloodborne and platinumed Elden Ring. So I am used to challenges - but at least for me, Tekken 8 online is on a whole other level.
To sum up : all these experiences can be very frustrating. But I am so eager and willing to learn and improve, so I will stick to the game until I eventually improve. Your video encouraged me a lot! 😊😎

been playing tekken abt a month and im hardstuck in red rank i just feel like you need to have played the game for years and years to know how to defend against the countless knowledge checks, like idk a friend told me about junkyard parry and the dragunov snakeedge/grab option select but how many hundreds of stuff are there like that that i have no idea about and am constantly getting rekt by and how do i even find out about them, i feel like the approachable information in your own characters best options can only take you so far before youre faced with a sheer cliff face of matchup knowledge to climb and is so exhausting to think about, like what i lab a few strings for a character which doesn't take an insignificant amount of time, then you don't see that character for 50 games and when you do they might not even do it and if they do it's been so long that the punish isn't muscle memory, i don't have that kind of time in my life but i still want to get better at tekken

  • @deinVatersagt
    @deinVatersagt 6 месяцев назад +1

the best way to improve is not online it is on the couch with a bunch of friends and a lot of fights learn for the beginning just a few 2 hit or 3 hit combos and understand that every char got mix ups for there base combos, it means the end of the combo has the possibility to finish with a mid or high or low and then it's only up to you, to use it to your advatage keep your opponent guessing and don't try just landing one online combo over and over play a lil more wild cause most people learning only meta can't do shit against people who almost know the hole combolist

I reached Vanquisher with relative ease playing Claudio. Only played Tekken 7 for 40 hours when it came out, some tekken tag back in the day (that intro movie on the PS2, what an experience that was, never seen the likes of that before), but pretty much a noob. I am now hardstuck at Vanquisher, I do not demote, nor come really close to destroyer. It is time to work on my defense for sure, I always go for the rematch against clearly better players solely to understand why I am keep getting punished, I accept the inevatible loss. Because really, caring about your rank too much is probably the biggest reason why people struggle to learn anything. Care about the small things, like seeing through an attack string, understand why your attacks do not work etc, if you are demolished by someone else, but after 5 rounds you almost win the 6th, because you changed your gameplan, attack and defense, just take that as a win, enjoy the game.

Alright I have some thoughts as a Destroyer rank who is new to Tekken. In green and yellow ranks the most important thing is to use fast moves that don't launch the enemy. Frame trap jabs, down forward 1, and down 3 (low kick) are all incredible moves on legit like every character.
A lot of guys in green and yellow are stuck because they rely too much on launchers and slow big damage moves.

Yes many new players need to learn how to sidestep . Because the game is balanced around the fact that it's a 3D fighter . So some moves might look op from a 2d fighter perspective but they really aren't . As new player learning to sidestep should be one of your main goals . With it you can dodge most attacks ( except homing attacks ) , take positional advantages and attack others from vulnerable angles .

Sidesteps in general are improved from 7 to 8, but some characters have better or worse sidesteps based on the size of the character. Some moves a normal character like jin can step some moves that dont track much, mobile characters like lili can step moves with solid tracking and large characters like jack-8 have a tough time stepping moves because of his large size. Hope that helps somewhat

I’m struggling (was struggling. I’m done playing this game. I quit) online not because I’m new, but because my character literally sucks. Zafina has always been my main since T6 all those years ago. But now??? THEY BUTCHERED HER. She’s so bad in this game idk wtf they thinking 😞😞😞. It’s like she just doesn’t have the tools to win like most others characters do. Not to mention her new moves suck…BADLY. If I want to use Azazel’s moves it takes away health. If it gets blocked I lose health for nothing and it’s not even safe. A lot of her moves are also counter hits even more than there was in T7. A lot of her moves aren’t ones you can just throw out there and it’ll land no, it has to be timed and even then sometimes it just doesn’t work. So when your opponent literally refuses to fight back there’s nothing she can do anymore. I’m left with weak normals, weak stances and a weak heat system. But to top it all off…she’s slow in this game. Other characters moves just come out faster than most of hers.
I quit this game. If I can’t use Zafina to win like everyone else uses their characters to win? Then I’m not playing anymore, PERIOD. I’m not gonna switch to meta just for cool points. With all due disrespect, fuck this game for what they did to her. It’s unacceptable.

First, find a goal. Your goal with dj should be to force the enemy to duck by threatening with low launch or ewgf. But you need to be close range to land those. And even though he can easily fly in with his morning crow, it can just as easily be punished. So you need to learn how to get close without relying too much on cheese.

"You're opponent doesn't know what they're doing." Here's a shoutout to that Raven player that refuses to play ranked just so he could stay labeled as a "beginner" just so he can crush unwitting actual beginners in the lounge.

Is there a way to hold block without constantly moving back?

I reached mighty ruler todya with KAZ yes I care about my rank but not really much. I try and learn who I’m fighting and how I can counter and stuff like that. My highest rank in tekken 7 was seiryu but I started tekken 7 late every thing had ALREAYD came out all seasons everything.

Would appreciate what to do with ghost modes, either how we train our own ghosts or downloading other people's. And then there's a mode on replays where we can take a segment and recreate it with recording? I got snake edged by Bryan a ton the other day playing Jin and just landed a bunch of down 2 so he can watch out for my lows. But I need to work on preventing Bryans from just spamming that.

As a player with 100% winrate in ranked in about 80 games, I'd say the biggest issue for newer players is their lack of logic: No, you can't retaliate after getting a knee to the face, you wouldn't be able to irl either; no, you can't lie on the ground and expect your character to immediately stand up; yes, that extremely high hitting move can be ducked and yet you haven't done it once.
    Etc. Etc.
2ndly, realize tekken is centered around movement and making the enemy whiff or get them to use a panic move that you can block. NO EXCEPTIONS.
    Less is more in tekken.
Learn to force enemies into bad situations or a false sense of security.
Lastly, learn to easily identify a moves purpose. Is it to continue pressure, prevent retaliation or bait a reaction? You can easily learn this by simply observing. No need for training mode.
Good examples are 1 (the standard jab), df1 (the standard mid check) and most strings that end in a mid (since these will often signal the end of the enemy's turn)
Don't learn combos (they don't help drag your face out of the ground) . Learn some bread and butter placeholder combos and focus on playing neutral until you can reliably control the pace, whether it's through offense or defense, proactive or reactive.

Tekken is not a beginner friendly game at all. Its extremely complicated. Feels like people are taking away half my health with very little.

How about a guide entirely on sidestepping? As someone who isn't very good, every time I sidestep, I just eat a homing move that's randomly part of someone's spam, and I'd have been safer just with a standing block. I know sidestepping is important, but I 100% don't get how to bridge that gap to where I can use it effectively.
