This will work with the Rane 4 controller Channel’s 9/10 deck left and 11/12 for right only problem is the mixer effects Like internal don’t work using the paddle
Many thanks for this video, it's very helpful and informative. However, I have tried it with the Pioneer DJM S9 but it doesn't work. It records both turntables on the same audio channel as you would have it if you used the normal record button in Serato Dj. Please, if you find a way to do this multi-track recording with Pioneer DJM S9 or if you know anyone who has gotten this setting, kindly share with us. Many thanks once again.

Hey Ivan, any idea why I can't get the tracks to be played in serape channels? they both play in channels 9 &10

@@djsupafly1 yes but i think it might be the fact that i was using the master channel xlr out put and not rca inputs... are you using rca to your interface or directly from the master output to interface? thanks Ivan!
- SweetScale TV - what interface? This only works internal with the Rane 72 mixer via core audio.
@@djsupafly1 im using the roland 808... and im getting sound into ableton... but i want deck 1 to got to channel 1/2.... and deck 2 to go into channel 3/4... but ive been using the master out put... i configured everything correctly in ableton. how are you getting sound from the rane 72 (which i might buy haha) into your interface? Master xlr or rca's?

- SweetScale TV - I'm not using any cables to go into the mixer or outputs. Everything is managed inside the mixer via core audio.

Great tutorial Ivan - I've heard a lot of DJs ask for this and now I know it's possible without any special equipment (if the mixer supports this). There are times where I'd want to use this for a Production Multi-Tracked DJ Mix when I'd like to use VSTs to fine-tune the blends and FX with filters, EQ Eight, and volume adjustments. Since I'm on a DJ Controller, perhaps the right kind of interface or mixer could be a solution. Thanks and Peace!
Hey did you find a solution??. I use to be able to pan out each channel from the 61 to achieve this type of recording. Haven't had any luck with the RANE one was hoping a mixer would allow you to record on separate tracks on Ableton?

Bridge with Rane TTM 57SL was more interesting - you was able to record all your fader and eq movement.

Is the bridge still available? I was thinking about picking up a ttm57sl. And if it is what's the latest version of OSX it will work on.
Jose Diaz available if you use Rane ttm57sl and Ableton live 8 - perfect for recording your mix. But yes - you need old version of OS - Yosemite for example

@@JoseDiaz-nj4yx you don't need to download it - if you have correct version of ScratchLive and Ableton8 - it will be button Ableton in your scratchlive or you can save your mix like als file

I love this feature but I dont know how to record the effects to each channel. For example if you echo out on channel one the audio is not recorded. Do you know how to get it to record?

I also have this same issue. Seems like I can only record the Serato FX on channels 5/6, for some reason.

@@djsupafly1 a DJM S-9 isn't a controller. It's a 2 channel mixer. This doesn't answer the question

Are there any other steps that you did i have a rane SEVENTY and I followed every step but i'm not seeing the audio signal. Is there a step i am missing?
Topkat Amazona I think the 70 has the channels name differently. You would have to find the correct channels. I don't have a 70 to test.

@@djsupafly1 I found it the on the rane SEVENTY If any one needs it it worked on Channels 7/8 and 9/10 on the seventy. I worked on my old MAC. So there may be an issue with ableton and the new Mac OS

Use a seperate sound card for that.

Nice!! This is smart to route Serato into Ableton to get clean sounding mixes plus ad plug ins to your mix. Plus edit it later. Very smart I’m going to do this! I’m sure it’s not limited to the S9 and Serato.

Please let me know if a similar routing works with the Numark Scratch. Unfortunately, it only recognizes the timecode signal when I try it.
This works with the DJM S11. It didn’t work on the S9 when I had it.

I miss the bridge and scratch live. I just got back into Ableton and realized serato pro doesn’t work the way i wished. Mulit-track recording
When I click input configuration, none of those boxes are there. Do I need any cords or am I missing something else?

the only problem with this is is does not record the post effects to channels 7/8(channel 1) & 9/10(channel 2) . it only records to the main 5/6
I'm trying to do this with my DDJ 1000 Pioneer controller using Rekordbox to record my sets in Ableton but having trouble. The recording needs to go on 2 serpent audio channels like shown in your video. Can you help me set up this or send me a link where it explains this. Thanks.

Iv been wanting to do this using virtual dj rather than serato-iv managed to get the output to ableton via a pioneer ddj sr but it only has one output and cant be used as a soundcard similtaneously in both programs
Can you suggest a controller or audio interface that would do this? (I cant afford a 72 tho ! :(

Video was super useful thanks! however for some reason after I followed all your recommendations, once I play the track/s on both Serato decks, I can actually see the waves into Ableton (at least the sound comes is ) however when I'm going to hear what was actually recorded, I just hear the classic serato timecode tinyl sound when you press play (beeeeeeee) and I just hear that for the whole session - Im pretty sure I'm playing a working track/s since I can perfectly hear from both decks using my headphones while recording. Not sure then why I can't hear the music in Ableton - any idea what the problem can be?
Forgot to mention that I m using Ableton 10 Lite and Serato SL3 as hardware. The Serato sound card got correctly recognized and I assigned the right input 1/2 - 3/4 - 5/6

Yes the input are correct, I suspected was the Serato Hardware here the issue.... its an incredible functionality, would like to be able to use it with SL3 as well! I heard with Ableton Bridge and Serato you can export Serato recorded sessions into Ableton live project, do you know about this functionality? That could be somehow a compromise if it would work with SL3

What is this set up run through tho? Like are you using an interface into the laptop from mixer and out to monitors etc? Are you running just the mixer via usb into serato and ableton no extra gear needed? Thanks for the video.
I’m trying to run a successful combination of pioneer S11 into laptop/ableton to record vi to and serato sets on separate Channels but still have my monitors be the output for everything
You just open abelton up while in Serato it will record. No need for any other sound card it’s direct recording between the two software
Anyway you can sync Serato and Ableton Live and record so you can get your mix more on timing and maybe do minor timing edits after recording ?

I’m using the AMX and it comes through the channel but when I hit record it only plays back the time code tone. Am I missing a step??

Do you know how to record in pro tools or logic from serato? Also, does the quality of the dj controller matter if recording directly into a DAW program? For example, flx4 sound card is worst than flx10. Does it matter if you are not playing it live and only using it to record?
It's all recorded via internal software.

@@DexterityNJ correct. Unless you apply filters as there should be another channel for fx but I haven't tried that in a long time.

No, it doesn't work like the mixtape feature it used to have.
So I have a Pioneer S9 and I for some reason can not seem to get the separate tracks to record on different tracks... Can anyone help?

Dj Spyk Pioneer doesn’t have the same software/hardware abilities for the S9. It works for some other mixers from Pioneer.

Hey Ivan, great vid. Do you know if this takes into account the crossfader position? What i am looking to do is output from Ableton and Serato at the same time into the 72 then also record the audio from serato into Ableton. i.e recording scratching over an ableton set. Hope that makes sense :/

Reggie Flores yes it does on the master output. However if you don’t want to you can record the separate fader channels and it won’t record the effects but it will record the midi data for things like volume so you can record a clean mix without effects.

Innofader has not tested it yet but they have talked to Rane and did mention that it's the same connection.
Can this be done on a Windows machine?
