All Serato DJ users need to know this trick!

- One of my favourite tricks in Serato DJ is the lead-in feature. This can be really helpful when transitioning between hard to mix songs. Radio edits or hip hop tracks can sometimes just start with a vocal and no intro to use. This trick will help you master those transitions to help you confidently play to any crowd.

will it also work with pioneer s9?
never thought of using the 'negative' space of a track. fire
The negative space is truly where everything in the universe is developed and understood.
This is so simple but so genius. In all the DJ lessons I’ve had and all the DJs I’ve played alongside I’ve never seen this nor been showed this. It’s so good for hip hop and pop tracks
I'm using similar procedure, but with looping of the first bar (or more) to match the beat. It's quicker than jumping back, see this: 1. load new track, 2. activate loop, 3 start playing, 4. in moment of transition switch off looping.
Yeah thats what I do too.. I loop the first 16 or 32 bars of the next song, beat match it. Adjust levels in my headphones and turn off loop when I'm ready to use it. Then I'll either, (1) lower the levels of the first track as the 2nd one is coming in (2) cross fade (3) echo out the first track
Yeah this looks like a faff, I loop too
I did the loop method too but this looks so much smoother. This is great.
id also say it's good for in the moment corrections. say you're bringing in a track (or want to repeat a chorus), but wish it was 4 bars back and you hadn't set a loop or que point.
I do a similar thing, but I scratch it in Lol. Most of the songs I play are like 80-110, very different style. I’m more of a party rock/ battle DJ and been DJing for 8 years and still love watching these. Keep up the great work.
I'm starting off as a DJ now and this is very, very cool! I will go and practice this tonight! FIRE!!!! Thank you!
I always wondered why the ability to load a song so far in advance - now I know. Very helpful video!!
THANKS didn't think of using beat jump in that manner. great tip!
Thank you Jamie Hartley for a very good lead in tutorial, I'm just getting back to the hobby and this really helps. thanks again.
Have doing that for while but you added more on for me. I always rewind it back bit so bring in the next track so it sounds clean n good transition. Cheers for showing me more tips
Great video!
Using the beatjump technique to mix in a track is very clever and clear, even a beginner DJ can use it
I literally have been doing this in Traktor with my S4 for 3 years. Competitors finally adding a feature that's been around for 10+ years! Great job explaining it to people who may have never had a feature like this before though, it's way too useful of a technique in DJing.
DiGital this has been in serato since scratch live :)
Thanks for this. I have learned a lot from you and you colleagues. Keep doing great work. Much appreciated!!!
So many tools in Serato. Been using Flip, hotcue jumps and loops for this issue. I'll start using this. Thanks for sharing.
Wicked advice! I haven't used beat jump before... but, I'm going to try it for this function.
Thanks!
A perfect review and for sure I will implement this into my program. thanks for sharing.
Love the wolf fx pack, the jet fx pack is also amazing! Got Serato DJ Pro at half price.(£60) Never been happier with my DJ Software. The 'Slice' feature is also amazing for quick bootlegs live.
Never knew about this lead in feature. Thank you
From a vinyl veteran I love this feature! So sweet!
Woahh I started out with Traktor and they had beat jump in it! I’ve been using serato for years now and have always wished it had Beat jump! I cannot believe it was that easy to find thank you so much!
Not bad at all that's something I needed now thank you so much Jamie! 🥇💯👍🏻
Yo you’re just the best. Your videos are so consistent
Cross fader is the best,I love you guys
Never use beat jumping, but looks easier than setting early hot cues.
Thank you for this breakdown! Appreciate it.
Beat jumping is also real handy for short tracks or if something happens and a track is running out or extendeding a main section without looping in a hurry 👍🏽
This made everything so much clearer.
Nice. Didn't even know we had this feature. Been using Serato for years lol. This is fire for prepping tracks and setting cues vs counting... probably cut prep time by 3/4!!
Love this trick/tip!
Really helpful! Thanks, guys!
Funnily enough, a DJ friend of mine showed me this back in Dec and i was blown away by how easy it is to do !. Now i use it all the time. Also great for setting up perfect Double Drop scenario's if you want to get really heavy.
Hey what's up. Can you please explain that double drop trick? Thanks a lot.
Yeah I need know to cuz I am having trouble on sereto DJ lite to mix to the next song
Great tip, living and learning. Thanks
Like your didactics Jamie, simple and cool man!
Great video...just starting out and this helps a ton!
Thank you so much, brotha. Your content is so helpful!!!
This is a great video. Thanks for sharing I will use it this weekend for my wedding.
Never thought of this lol definitely going to try it
BROTHER, YOU ARE THE BEST!!! You oooh really helped me!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
Very useful, thanks Jamie.
Love this. Simple but effective!
Glad you like it! 🙌🏻
Very nice trick. I shall practice and enjoy.
Mahalo for the beat jump trick....never knew it existed....gonna use it at tonights gig!
Really good ideas. Never thought about using the dead space.
Brilliant. It looks simple and a bit complex (to start with) at first. I will practice this..
Great tips!
have never used the negative space... will for sure practice
This was so helpful!! Thank you
AWESOME.....!!!! Thank you.....!!!!!
Very cool trick
Thank You
Thanks 😊 alot for this tip it really works
Salute for this tip
Great hack Jamie. Nice work
This is useful for a lot of Psy trance tracks which have instrumental intros. Kill the bass on the the existing track as the new bassline starts
Love your videos. I've been DJing for a few years but I'm planning on buying the beginner online program and then the intermediate to go through it from the ground up. There are always little tips and tricks I can learn that I didnt know, or need to work on that will ultimately make me a better DJ. Master the basics first! Thanks a lot man!
great video! thx
Never thought bout echo as a way to cascade from track to track. Seems like itd be cooler to sample glitch it with a guitar pedal or something but your technique is effective.
i love u so much bro, thanks very much
Very useful tip!
thanks for this
this rocks!
Excelente tip no se me había ocurrido hacerlo así de esa manera y uno siempre buscando el extended o el remix jajajaja gracias por el tip saludos!
Thank you bro
Great info
Great tutorial
Very helpful
Excellent technique, all though my personal feelings are DJ tutorials focus too much on using edited tracks with long intros. I feel this way because I have been djing since 1983 & we didn't have such creative control over a track as you do with the most simplest digital track. I learned to be creative with what I was given on a record, tape, or CD lol. I never have a problem blending or mixing any track or genre. With that said I love learning new creative ideas & this is the reason I subscribe to your channel. I look to you and a hand full of other you-tube djers because I respect your opinion & like today actually learn useful new techniques. Bravo sir I like this & will always follow you to enhance my journey as a DJ. (just as a note I've been a resident dj since 2009 every fri & sat. I also dj on Monday's & Thursdays during this same time period.)
Really helpful
The echo-out effect form the Wolf pack makes this even easier IMHO
Thanks!
Excellent tutorial, I'd like to see you someday make a Techno tutorial with transition and tricks, I really struggle with this and I'd like to learn more...cheers...
Carlos Palacios few tips that I like to use is to bring in the new track on the second drop of the one playing. Then at around the 50/60 second mark swap the basses Quickly and slowly bring out the old track
@@craighockenhull7457 thank u... what about the samples use?, Do you choose them in advance?, Use stems?, or edit the song in the DAW?
Thanks for the suggestion. Will look to get some tutorials created!
Very Helpful fren
very helpful👑
good Tip!!!!
Thank you 💕 sir
Very nice
How fortuitous! I am working through a Serato DJ course, and there were settings that I heard of but never knew how to use, and beat jump is one of those features. Great that this video came out in the nick of time and it's a good use case! I just need to now find out how to access it on my SX3; SHIFT-ROLL isn't it. Anyway, good stuff. Thank you!
Velanche Stuart, where can I find the Serato DJ course that you speak of.
@@missionpossible2334 The Complete Guide to Serato DJ at groove3.com.
@@velanche thank you sir!
On the SX3 you can just go to Roll mode. You won't need to hold shift and roll.
We also have Serato DJ Courses available over on our website wearecrossfader.co.uk
Love your videos. At the end virtual dj rocks the whole boat. Vdj is a monster. I watch this trick now. Do you have a trick for me 2 use ddj1000 im serato? That would be a good starter 😜🤗
Thank you!
You're welcome!
great technique and simple
Thank you! Cheers!
very helpful
impressive
clever technique
I'd really like to see some of these tips for the Prime 4 system. There are beatjump controls on the hardware so it's a no-brainer translating this specific trick over, but there have to be some more things people have figured out with the system by now, and there's not a lot out there illustrating those things. Love your vids! Keep em coming! :)
Keep an eye out in the coming months. We’re going to have a lot of Prime tips coming your way :)
Does prime 4 not have best jump buttons? I watched it on a tutorial yesterday (got one arriving next week) and it appears to have them to the upper left of the jog wheels
@@Crossfader AWESOME! Thank you guys! This rig is the best decision I've made in a looooong time as a selektah/performer.
ahhhh that makes my ocd happy
Please do a tutorial of this mixing live new tracks .. I can’t get it how I would use it in a completely new track ..
Wow 🤩
have a question. I use a DDJ-SX2 linked through my iMac and using Serato. For the last few months, I have been experiencing sound dropouts. The player continues to play but the sound drops for a second then comes back where it should have been. This also happens when using Djay Pro over the same system. You heard of this, and if so, do you know how to fix it? Thanks 👍
Thanks..
thanks
nice tips
Do you have a video about how to control track position using shift and the controller buttons like you were in Serato?
I'm a beginner and looking for advice...so when I'm listening to the music on my headphones I can't seem to use the equaliser? Is it because it's connected to my speakers?
Very helpful but I need to get more comfortable with programming my controller pads. Not sure why, but I’m afraid of them!
Like-a-lot!
A track by one of the James Brothers!
I use Serato however, I would like to know how to move a create up or down with the keyboard
What sorcery is this? I did this using my auto loop and cue points, 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 to know where the song starts... 😅 Thank you. I didnt know this...
this is wow
I just need to work on reading phases and knowing when to start playing and beat jumping the 2nd track
That’s good stuff.
Thank you!
