OMG, I remember this commercial! I lived in upstate NY at the time, and was so bummed that mom and dad wouldn't take me to see it. I remember the whole thing, the lyrics from the ad an everything! Thanks for posting!
I was in this show. It might of been a "Magic Musical" on stage but back stage it played much like a drama. (Ha!) It was my first and last broadway experience and I loved every aspect of it.
I remember this commercial running 50 times a day during cartoons on wpix ...my school went on a trip to see this but I missed it because I had the flu
My Dad took me to see this show when I was a boy, and I was hooked. True, most of the music wasn't so great, but Doug Henning was AMAZING. He was so much classier, then, say, Penn and Teller.
I saw this show! It was in fact as overblown and indulgent as the critics say. It was also WONDERFUL! Little Nathan Lane who was NO ONE at the time chewing up the scenery along with Chita Rivera!
@CardsTellTales If you're speaking in terms of the public's perception of magic, then yes, I'd rank Hennings up there. But for magicians, he does not outrank Vernon.
fossefan, I think that was a little mean. (But it was Nathan Lane, so it was perfectly in character.) The only thing wrong with Merlin was that it was too expensive to survive.
Thanks for uploading. Just the little bit of The Mascot Moth we see at the end of the commercial makes it worth it.
If only I had a time machine love to see this show!!!! The Mascot Moth Illusion at the end of the clip is true work of art!!!!

I wish more video of this show would appear.
It closed before I got to see it.
Doug was one of my most favorite magicians.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks really, really cool? I'd love to see a tape of it

@ejay1118 Nathan had the best quote about the show: "Doug was good at making the audience disapear."
best mascot moth ever
This looks cool, it's sad when family musicals like this flops on Broadway. :(
