- Adding the missing Clutch Boss Spring, a technology that is no longer used in motorcycle clutches.
I also show a sound dampening device in the clutch cover.
Manufacturers experimented a lot in the 80s, constantly striving toward improving their engineering standards.
Reasons why the steel plates should face the inside:
Excessive wear on clutch hub
Delayed/hesitated gear engagement
To be fair, this is a highly subjective issue and it doesn't matter either way as long all like edges face the same way.

Nice video. Great attention to detail and I loved the tick over sound at the end.
Thank you very much!
I agree all of the plates should be the same orientation. It shows the mechanic was paying attention. Whichever way around they are fitted they should not bind on the clutch centre hub or the inside of the basket unless there is a variation of pressure on the pressure plate due to uneven springs strength or visible wear on the Hub Centre. Nice video on a subject I have never thought about. When I rebuilt the clutch on my XJ600 I put the steel plates soft side out but I did use new friction plates and springs.
Agreed, it shows attention to detail on our part, the next mechanic that works on the bike won't have anything to say.
