In my area the Japanese brands are really suffering, but at least Triumph have some bikes to sell. The bikes from the Japanese that are on the floor are almost all sold just waiting for the customer to pick them up.

Love the Meriden Blue and Tangerine on the T100! Triumph needs more of these heritage/retro colours! Especially when you look at the Royal Enfield 650's range (and hopefully the new BSA) which look great!
When I started looking for a new bike in late 2019, I walked into my local Triumph dealer and they had a 2020 T120 in Baja orange in their showroom. It just looked so good and, to my eye, somewhat unique among the other modern Triumphs, so I decided there and then that wanted it in that colour.
@@motobob probably, but I'm not tall enough for the Scambler . Even on the Street Twin (Speed Twin 900), my feet are resting on the ball of the foot. Being a new driver I wanted something where when coming to a stop I am not on my toes. Can the Scramble seat height be lower somehow? Like a less thick seat or something?
I doubt it will happen but as the owner of a Thunderbird 1600 I would love to see an updated version. A little narrower rear tire, a better location for the oil fill, currently it’s in what amounts to a valley where sand and road grime collect making it a bit of a pain to either check the level or top it off and finally some hard locking panniers. Less Harley, more Triumph. My final thought is that here in the US, expand the dealer network. If I want to buy a new Triumph or have any service work done at a dealership, I have to travel two hours each way. It’s too easy to buy any one of the Japanese brands or an Indian or Harley. All are either right in town or not more than an hour away.
Street Scrambler definitely needed the name change (it never should have had it in the first place) because it immediately delegitimized the bike as a "styling exercise." Is it a dirt bike? Nope. Is it as good off-road as the 1200? Nope. But, I would argue that it's pretty true to authentic 1960s and 1970s scrambler conversions as far as capabilities are concerned (except weight). The Street Twin, to me, was fine as-is. It started off as its own thing. I've got a 900 SS, so I know "Speed" isn't really much of a thing with the 900 motor. What Triumph needs to do is bump the 900 up to 80+hp and get the 1200 motors up to 100+hp. There's no way these motors can't be making more power. The H-D Nightster engine proves that.
Speed twin 900 should’ve been renamed when they introduced a massive engine update few years back, it gained 10hp got Brembo brakes instead of Nissin dropped some weight (if I remember correctly) the Speed moniker would’ve sufficed then.
Triumph used to have some of the boldest (and most beautiful) colours during the '90s and early '00s. Then, for some unknown reason (firm executives getting old perhaps?), used the most boring ones for 10-15 years. All were black, white or shades of grey! Woh... how interesting... how fun...! 😴 It 's great to see Triumph snapping out of this nightmare of boredom and find their selves again!
I’ve been so disappointed with the new Speed Twin colors. I’m so happy I got the first gen silver/black. Now a neon stripe? These new models just look off to me. Maybe I’m just not seeing it. Very underwhelming. The Thruxton in green is beautiful though. Renaming the Street Twin is misleading. And why are we still without a proper Speed Twin R / RS?
I agree, the new Speed Twin colors are very disappointing. I was patiently waiting for this year colors to get a new Triumph but I'll stick to my 2018...
Funny, my 2018 T100 has the same Meriden Blue & Tangerine colour scheme, be it that the pinstriping is not silver but gold. Also the mudguards have a Tangerine centre line flanked by golden pinstriping.
I had a 2020 Street Twin. When telling people what bike I had I'd constantly say Speed Twin! It just trips off the tongue more easily, so Speed Twin 900 sounds pretty good to me 😉 I've now got a Speedmaster so it's no longer a problem 😀
The new colour schemes are excellent. I'm a big fan of orange. I built a flat track Triumph in 1992 and finished it in Ford Vista orange, my 1993 Chas Roberts MTB was refinished by Roberts in.... orange, the T140 project I am currently building will be finished in Ford Electric orange, so Baja Orange is absolutely fine by me.
Tried to buy a bobber gold line and was told by my dealer that it was impossible as he would not receive a single example. So again, some of these new bikes look awesome, but I’ll believe it when I see one in the showroom or when I can at least sign a purchase contract
Bought my T120 a year ago due to ride quality, style,’and potential. None of the colors available appealed too me much. And as a lover of all things Orange, I do love the new options, but not enough to change just over a paint job on a tank. Like the naming changes. Makes a ton of sense. I’m just over a year into riding and it took a little bit to figure out the naming patterns. Second nature now. As always, well done Bob!
The street twin name is better I think but it doesn’t matter as long as they keep the bike as is. Would have been better if they put the same headlight bracket of the street/speed twin to the T100. Not a fan of orange also so would prefer shades of blue or green or white.
The more the color choices the better. Might as well since most dealers of all brands are only getting bikes where customers lay down deposits anyway so why not order the color you want.
Agree. As many times as I've misspoke "Street" and "Speed", the old naming made sense. It matched the naming of the Triples, too. But the Street and Speed Twins are different across the board, and mostly with the buyer type. Speed Twin owners love the out-of-the-box performance and stay largely stock. While the Street Twin is one of the the most customizable/customized bikes in the world. There was no problem to fix, they should have been kept separate. Especially after 6 years of developing the Street Twin brand, and how the Speed Twin was (rightly) promoted as a Thruxton-lite.
@@JohnnyXoz there's more to it than just pure speed. The 900 has bargain bin parts all over it except for maybe the front Brembo caliper. Doesn't deserve the Speed Twin name IMHO.

I find this amusing, I had a 64 TR6R for seven or eight years, I've got a 78 Bonnie at the present, and really enjoy it, and serious considered a new one, before buying it this spring. I hope these new Triumphs enjoy the popularity the old ones always did.
This is the pompous marketing crap that HQ big table guys get paid for. "Making it clearer to people new to the brand"... as if it was ever difficult to understand: *Street Twin* made for the streets. Good in and around town, and just good on the roads in general. *Speed Twin* very similar bike with a bigger engine so it produces more power, accelerates harder, and can go a bit faster when required. I liked that Triumph marketed the different models with different names. It's something that set them apart from other brands. Now people buying a Speed Twin 900 will probably get quoted higher for insurance because its name is Speed instead of Street.
The decision to drop the name makes more sense now. I hope they release lower displacements for their other lines as well seeing that triumph has had great success with their 650 line.
I Love it! making their models a lot more clearer to understand, technically they are all the same family of bikes, Bonneville! Standing at a dealership and watching all of the different models can be a bit confusing. good call Triumph. the new color schemes are stunning!
The orange is my favorite but the color combination that the Trident got was not of my preference. The Street twin looks way better that the Trident. By the way I am a Trident owner.
Wife has a 2019 Street Twin and I have a 2020 Speed Twin - we have both modified our rides a bit, but even thinking back to 'bone stock', they are very different - significant performance, body position, and general quality differences. This reeks of a branding change by Triumph purely for the sake of trying to up-charge for the 'Speed Twin 900'... I don't buy Triumph's explanation. FWIW, I don't care at all for the 'new' Speed Twin 1200 - the USD forks, matte painte, and neon stripes look like someone in charge of aesthetics for the street/speed triple was given charge of the Speed Twin - it just doesn't suit it at all.
Street Twin name was fine, until the Speed Twin name came back and has been causing confusion since, so, it kinda makes sense. I have a 2019 street twin, perhaps... It will help its future standing, price wise 🤔
I decided I wanted a Trident but with availability with what it was I took what was available....or rather the next available at my dealer which turned out to be the Matte Baja Orange. I hadn't seen the color in person and I really wanted the silver or the black but they were slated for months longer wait than the 2 months I waited for the Baja Orange. At first I was somewhat nonplussed and wished it was a gloss metallic burnt orange but it has grown on me. Lately I've been thinking about trading for a Speed Twin 900. The new "Chrome" edition color with the red tank and the chrome accents in the knee indents at first interested me until a saw a video of that tank. I love the red with the black stripe down the tank but I HATE the chrome. If I were to get one I'd have to put black tank knee pads over the chrome. I think I'll just save a bucket of money and get a black ST900 instead.
Thanks great video. Great beautiful colour options. Now Triumph you have to go on with the exhaust. Please bring out more exhausts in black. A little bit tired of all this chrome. For me thats just as important as the colour of the rest of the bike.
And cue Bobber 900… etc. Also, I personally think the Street Scrambler Gold Line in that Pacific Matt Blue is gorgeous. Would love to see that on some other Bonnies
I love orange, green, and yellow bikes! So definitely into that I can’t wait for my shoulders to heal from surgery so I can get the gold and street triple
I can understand the scrambler 900, but the street twin to speed twin 900 not so much. Does this mean they are going to change the name of their street triple to the speed triple 765?

Actually they are. I've ridden both and the Speed Twin is literally 10-15MPH faster than the 900
@@JohnnyXoz maybe you have ridden a different speed Twin that I have.
Suddenly customers have changed their minds and now want brighter colours? Who'd of thought!
Right...
OMG i get soo frustrated with Triumph they bring out some awesome colours for a change which we've all been waiting for but it's only the petrol tank they paint ie not the side panels or the front & rear mudguards what are they doing? 🙄🤦🏻♂️ Great video tho Fella!! 👌🏻👍🏻
I find this amusing, I had a 64 TR6R for seven or eight years, I've got a 78 Bonnie at the present, and really enjoy it, and serious considered a new one, before buying it this spring. I hope these new Triumphs enjoy the popularity the old ones always did.
the street twin was the right name considering its market niche. my two bobs worth.
Are there any reasons to ride a 1200 vs 900? I prefer a lighter 900 for mostly short rides in twisty roads.
This is the pompous marketing crap that HQ big table guys get paid for. "Making it clearer to people new to the brand"... as if it was ever difficult to understand:
*Street Twin* made for the streets.
I agree. Job justification at its finest
The decision to drop the name makes more sense now. I hope they release lower displacements for their other lines as well seeing that triumph has had great success with their 650 line.
A 650 Bonneville would feel unpowered in my opinion. I hope they don't go this route.
Thanks for the Vlog and the 20% code for SpeedoAngels mate. Ordered a V85TT cover with it. Safe Riding from North Yorkshire.
Really looking forward to having to call the Street Triple the Speed Triple 765.
Or Speed Triple 885? Next generation back to the start.
And having a speed triple 765 RR on my garage.
sorry... I meant RR :D
I Love it! making their models a lot more clearer to understand, technically they are all the same family of bikes, Bonneville! Standing at a dealership and watching all of the different models can be a bit confusing. good call Triumph. the new color schemes are stunning!
The orange is my favorite but the color combination that the Trident got was not of my preference. The Street twin looks way better that the Trident. By the way I am a Trident owner.
Street Cup coming back as Thruxton 900?
That blue and black scrambler 1200 they do is very nice. Somehow the colour just seems very deep
I'll like to know if they will bring the thunderbird back.
Black sells the most because it's cheaper and more prevalent. I wish the Street twin came in that non metallic light blue grey that the T120 came in.
I love orange, green, and yellow bikes! So definitely into that I can’t wait for my shoulders to heal from surgery so I can get the gold and street triple
I can understand the scrambler 900, but the street twin to speed twin 900 not so much. Does this mean they are going to change the name of their street triple to the speed triple 765?
he just mentioned that.. only the Bonneville family gets the name change. not their 3 cylinder variants
@@LucasSi919 which does not make sense
@@jaroslavdvorak5880 of course it's makes sense. There is only 3 motorcycle from triumph that a 3 cylinder. Street triple , speed triple and Daytona. Easy! In the bonnievile ,2 cylinder class, you have the t100,t120 ,bobber ,roadmaster , street twin, speed twin , scrambler XC , scrambler XE , speed twin , truxton, truxton RS . I just named 10 and there is more! So by going "speed twin" and categorizing them by "CC" displacement as apose to ANOTHER model name you're eliminated 2 unnecessary names making it easier to keep track of. I really don't know know how that's hard to understand
@@LucasSi919 first of all, the Tigers are 3 cylinders bikes 🙂 And yes, they are different names, because they are different bikes - easy as it sounds. And since Street Twin is not the same/similar bike as the Speed Twin, they should not share the same basic name. If you have not ridden both of them, you should not be too direct with your opinion, cause it is only theoretical. BTW, there is no roadmaster in the offer 🙂
@@jaroslavdvorak5880 I'm aware the tiger is a 3 cylinder i said I'm "only naming a few" catagorizing them by CC is significantly easier then by name. We can agree to disagree
Nice video. I like your channel very much. Clear message and clear goals in each video. Congrats.
xsr looks graet with tft, features. z900rs just got cancelled for asia. ST is super maneuvering in heavy city traffic. a lower, shorter ride makes it so easy.
My 2009 Street Triple R was Matt Orange. I loved that bike, might have to get the Speed Twin 1200
Would love to see British Racing Green on a basic Bonneville. I owned a 2003 Bonneville, solid red with chrome fenders… miss that bike.
Gorgeous colors, specially the Baja color. Thanks.
Mixed feelings for me being a Triumph Street Twin Goldline owner. Shame that the name will not continue anymore but also good that I will have one which was quite a famous one and that too a limited version !
The naming has been confusing people for many years. I think of the changed name as a positive straightforward move. As for the colors, i really love the Thruxton competition green and the red/black of the scrambler xc. The others range from indifferent to bad especially the orange variation. You want orange go to KTM
I hate orange as well
Hurrah. Street Twin, Speed Twin? As a Triumph fanboy even I get confused with their naming convention. Triumph stop dragging up Meriden history - soon you will be calling something a Cub.
They should have given baja orange to street triple also!!
Good video 👍
I like the Baja Orange Speed Triple
Anticipate any price drops in the “Street” branded bikes? I don’t know if it’ll be more cost effective to just ship new side panels to warehouses and dealerships.
The 1200 Speed Twin should have preload adjusters for the forks so they can be set up better for different body weight and conditions.
Honda has announced the Grom will now be named the Fireblade 125
The fireblade 125 RR ..... race ready ? NO, really relaxing.
Been thinking about downgrading from my street triple rs lately. That Speed Twin in baja orange is beautiful but you can't ignore the gold line colours either.
Hardly a downgrade! More of a sideways move!
Love the orange.
Speed Twin 500 for A2 license?
I was thinking about an Interceptor for 2023.
Maybe it is advisable to wait for more news.
They should bring back the Thunderbird Sport. The best looking Triumph so far.
sir. can you make a review for benelli leoncino 500
Changing the name isn’t gonna change the fact it’s 450 lbs with 65 hp AND A 5 SPEED TRANSMISSION!!!!!!!!!
That’s not good enough for 10,000 usd.......
So maybe they should go for a new 900, 6-geared, dual-disc braked Thruxton, don't you think?
Or a xsr700 that’s 30% cheaper when the out door price is factored in.
Ahh Thaiumph. Clearly taking a page from the Harley marketing book of lots of sound alike names and making a new colour a feature.
@@stubbingtonmarigold3032 I now own a MT-07, and personally, I will never buy a Japanese bike again. Too soft, and with average built quality. The XSR does look really good though, I admit it. It all comes down to personal taste in the end.
@ kaveiros75 - You are proving my point- when it came time to spend your money- you didn’t get a street twin did you ? You could have gotten a used one instead of an mt-07 .... but you didn’t. You could go trade your mt-07 on a street twin ... but you haven’t. You are proving my point- it’s isn’t good enough for that price.
Curious Triumph went with the red and black (grey) tank on the Scrambler (see 3:26) after Royal Enfield dropped their Ravishing Red as a color choice on the Interceptor last year.
3:36
One colour scheme I don’t like is that on the Bonneville. Baha orange and the Thruxton green are very good.
The speed twin 900 is on my short list however not having a tachometer is putting me off somewhat……come on Triumph finish the job.
Finally Triumph have some great colours I don't like the black on black at all.
Why not? It's very unique, original, and interesting! Hahahaha...!
Besides... you can often choose between matte black or gloss black! Woh!
HAHAHAHAHA...!!!!
Thank you mr Bob!
Much clearer with the naming, less confusing. Good job Triumph
Excellent MB!
new Colours that are BOLD soooo Bold New Colours!!!
Not a fan of 2-tone personally, but the color choices are quite nice.
New sub! Liked 😀😊😘😘😁😁
I thought the orange with light blue was pretty hideous. Is there a green Speed 900?
at 6:19 Miles Perkins must have forgot that Triumph have dropped the 'Street' name. DOH!!
Makes sense but looking at the 660 Tiger sport; wouldn't it make a bit more sense to call it a TRIDENT sport given the commonality of the platform?
I have a Speed Twin 900 2023, anyone know if a Street Twin tail tidy will fit?
Speed Twin 1200 comes with HP engine
Does the speed twin 900 also get HP engine instead of the HT engine as current street twin 900 edition have ??
Nope - engine stays the same. I don’t think they make a 900 in the HP
@@motobob this is another reason (apart of many others) why the name alignment does not make sense in real
Does anyone reckon they might soup up the Speed Twin 900 someday soon? Make it more speed-y.
Not now they named their wimpy version “speed”
It sounds like they are trying to coach the buyer to trading up to the 1200 models. Aka “see the connection” the same way the sportster is the starting Harley
Triumph, fit a decent front mudguard. The one currently fitted is useless. All the crap plasters the radiator and engine.
