We bought this bike for my wife, i personally have a BMW RnineT tuned to the max and a BMW HP4 with 202HP and i catch myself wanting to ride my wifes Street Twin the most. Its just so relaxing, easy, it doesnt push you, it is just enjoyable. The motor is more than capable enough, the sound of the twin is super nice. I love this "little" machine!

I got over obsessing about the numbers, and comparisons with others years ago. For me it’s plenty fast enough and I don’t need any more.
@@twinphill900 So have I. Test rode the 2019 model with a view to upgrading but couldn’t tell any difference so I’m keeping mine despite the possibility of the wiring disintegrating and gearbox exploding as some reviewers are saying.

Bought mine a couple of years ago, Great, still love it. 5 11 I was worried it might be to low. Not been a problem. I ride long distances regularly. I’m ok after 800k day. Perfect old guy bike.
I am seriously considering this beauty for my half century celebration. Always had a soft spot for Triumphs, and i like good natured classic designs. Maybe it is time to get one...
Just bought a brand new Speed Twin 900 as a retirement present to myself and can't wait to pick it up in a few days. I went for a test ride a couple of weeks ago and I was grinning all the time I was out on it, such an easy bike to ride with more than enough power and grunt for my type/style of riding and I'm looking forward to many happy miles of riding.
I bought one of these( 2023 chrome edition) and can echo all you've said about it. I had always ridden sports tourers and wanted something different that would suit the DGR. I'm old and short and haven't stopped smiling since I took it for a test ride. I decided there and then to buy one and I love it. The torque, sound and ease of riding is a real game changer! Great review thankyou!
I was looking into getting a RE Meteor 350 Fireball Red but, the dealers can't get them until July. So I decided to look for something else, behold the Triumph Street Twin 900 got my attention, I live in mountain area and flat land very near the great Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. This bike rides like a dream and I know what you mean about the pulling power. I love it and I am very happy I bought it. I grew up with Japanese bikes and this one is my first UK bike , I will ride with this one for the rest of my life. Great review and Thanks! Ride on man!
I Bought a 2016 ST 3 weeks ago with only 6000 miles on the clock - growing up on old Triumphs from T100SS to 750 twins I absolutely love my new purchase - happy days!
I've just bought mine on Saturday after test riding it along with many others.(ducati monster, stramvler, mg v7, yam xsr700) It was the first of those bike that put a smile on my face and I signed there and then. Now I have to wait a month 😭. Thanks for this video. I m so excited now after see it.
Thanks for the review Eddie and for braving the cold! I'm late to the biking world having raised my bat for the half century. Passed Mod 1 in Dec. and was about to take Mod 2 when lockdown happened. In the interim period I'd bought a 2020 Street Twin in black (blacked-out mods with slightly off-road tyres, bench seat etc). Love it, but since 21st of December it has had little or no use - so frustrating. Watching your review just makes me want to get that Mod 2 out of the way so that I can blast about without a bloody care in the world.....
Wishing you all the best to getting your Mod2 done, Haig! Hopefully, as the lockdowns ease with the weather it will be a perfect time to get riding again. Your bike sounds awesome! Love the ‘tough’ dark look on the Street Twin.
I have an '18 ST, decat pipe, V&H mufflers with the dB killers removed, DNA air filter, Booster Plug, and a 6-piston front caliper. Bike is great to ride, has smoother and powerful acceleration, doesn't pop or bang on decelleraton, and the 6-piston brakes inspires a lot more confidence than the OEM 2-piston. It's not an intimidating bike at all, my youngest daughter likes to ride it around the neighborhood, to get experience (she got her license last year but doesn't have a bike of her own yet). It has the best riding ergonomics of the bikes that I currently have, except the seat on my '07 BMW K1200S is WAY more comfortable for longer trips.
I bought a BMW K1200R in '05. A magic bike for sure. Unfortunately it was damaged in '08 but that is another story. I drove 11,000 miles in 3.5 short summer seasons with the BMW. But now installing the TEC camshaft in my '16 ST with X-pipe, DNA air filter and a booster plug. I will reprogram the bike with TuneECU and probably disable the O2 sensors too. And the booster plug will not be needed anymore. I like the stock mufflers, and I don't believe they will restrict the power. After all it is still a low power bike, even with around 70 hp.
Thinking about upgrading to the Street Twin from my Yamaha R3 (2020) back into riding after 35 years, I think the Street Twin will suit me better. Just waiting for the bikes to arrive in Australia, where we can ride everyday of the year... well almost :)
I am considering this for my later years in motorcycling. I dont have the need for my bulky, heavy adventure bike but don't want to give up biking. Definitely on my radar.
It's the best-selling Bonnie Triumph sell, Bob... and for good reason! It's certainly my favourite of the Bonneville family for sure. Easy to ride. Looks great!

Nice review mate, I'm taking a street twin out this morning from my local dealer for a test ride. From what I've seen on you tube very positive reviews of the bike (except the wingmirrors, easy fix). Seems like the engine is very smooth with loads of torque. I'm very much looking forward to the ride.
I am looking to buy my first street bike ( rode a few dirt bikes long ago ) but I think this bike is ideal ! You’ve really inspired my interests in this classic and timeless British icon 🇬🇧 Since I was a young child , I remember my older brother had a 69 Triumph Bonneville 650 , and I’ve always longed for one like it . My other brother rides a Harley Sportster 1200 , he’s always trying to talk me into buying one , but I’m gonna roll up in his driveway on my Triumph Street Twin and make him jealous lol 😂 I won’t even look at other bikes , Triumph is it ! Most enjoyable review Eddie, I think you covered all the bases. Kudos too for riding in the freezing cold! Now I need to go & remind myself what you said about the Speed Twin...
Just watched you t100 review. Very well done. It was between the twin and the t100. So, it seems the twin will be my first bike. Gonna go for the ec1 limited edition. Great color. It’s just the sportier of the two. And i like a blend of sport and cruise. Thanks Eddie for helping with the decision. T
(Greetings from Canada)- The Street Twin does have a digital clock. You just have to click through the different information screens. I have a 2020 and absolutely love my Twin! So much fun to ride for sure!!!
My last bike was an ‘82 BMW R65LS. It was much easier to maneuver at slow speeds. I have some practice to do on this new bike modulating the clutch, throttle, and rear brake for tight turns. Otherwise I love this bike. Plenty of pulll… I don’t know what I’d do with more power.
Good review, the Street Twin is excellent bike made for the road. Not too fast that you'll get into trouble, but handles well. Just a quick point, I think there is a clock if you scroll through on the display. Still won't help with a bathroom break though....
Ha! Thanks for the heads-up Dave! ;) not having the clock dispayed, made the ride better I think. With all the cloud cover in the UK and not see where the sun is, you can easy lose track of time!
New subscriber! Excellent review. I find the Street Twin more of a cruiser-roadster profile. Definitely a bike to journey with (in all senses of the word). Great first bike!
Thank you for this video, you covered all the bases and gave a lot of good info. I already have my Harley for sale and if I sell it by Spring I'll be looking to buy a Triumph Street Twin 900 (or Speed Twin 900) I think Triumph changed the name. I can hardly wait to have a Triumph in my garage. I have owned many mototcycles since 1967, mostly Japanese brands and four Harleys, so I am very excited to be getting a TRIUMPH.
Very good review, covered all the key points even mentioned possible leg problems due to short seat height as well, not sure if I've heard that mentioned before in the many reviews of this bike I've watched! , well done I'm looking forward to seeing future reviews from you 👍
Thanks for your feedback Darryl! Yeah, I do try and be as observant as possible and think about what other riders may encounter when riding the bike. Great to hear it's appriciated! 🏍
@@EddieSetGo the only thing I am a bit scepticle about is the engine heat. Hope I don't burn my leg. I live in Rome, Italy and it gets pretty warm in the summer.
I understand your concerns... Rome can get very hot!☀️ I didn’t notice my legs touching the engine though... there was lots of leg room despite the seat height being low.
I’m going from a Trident 660 to stealth edition ST900 , I’ve had a few wobbles about getting rid of the great engine in the Trident , but this bike ticks all the boxes I need !
When I bought mine second hand from a dealer without even trying it, I was very nervous and worried, saying to myself " oh god what have I done" it's heavier than my previous cb500f that I used to have 5 years earlier and It have been a long since I ride a proper big bike. As soon as I started it a rode off I was shocked at how easy a low the centre of gravity was, it's like I used to ride it long time before, heck! It felt so easy to ride that I can even highly recommend it to do the full motorcycle test on it. The only thing It lacks is the full lock of the steering which I found it quite small.
Nice review - Thanks! I had a beautiful 2017 T120. I think I'd prefer the 900 vs. 1200 at this point & the Street Twin offers a nice blend of qualities. Although I'm not fond of that 'whistle' noise in modern Triumph engines, I do like the deeper, throatier burble of these stock mufflers/silencer vs. those on the T100 & T120. May not need to replace the stock version.
wanted the speed twin but found a street twin for a good deal and might be picking it up tomorrow. Im just wondering if Ill be wishing I spent more for the speed twin with the higher power and better breaks. Is this street twin strong enough for a 205lb rider that will have his 110lb wife on the back for short rides around town?
I currently ride an '18 Street Triple 765R. I am looking at getting a second bike to just cruise around on. Saw the new Gold Line edition and love the look. Just need to demo ride a regular version to see if I would even like it.
So I have the questions.what is the bike all about? Does it have more horsepower? How big is the engine? What rpm does it have it on it? What does the tork to the all day on it?
i’m using a Puig universal shield with a small puig extender and the wind goes over my helmet…huge difference. this bike has no trouble running 85 all day
New subscriber- great production and narration really enjoyed it If I had some spare cash I'd love to buy one as a second bike, strip it down and smother it in after market touches such as the items from motone and turn it into an Urban ride
Thank you for subscribing, Keith! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've also considered the Street Twin as a perfect second bike. Customise it and make it mine! Quite like the idea of a 'cafe racer' or 'stripped-back black apoloclyse rugged' bike :P
I know this is pretty old now but, I'm looking into a triumph speed twin vs a starter sportsbike for my first bike, I have no riding experience but seeing the community made me interested, my question is though will sportsbike riders look only for other sportsbikes to cruise with or is this not a thing ?
I love the way that you frame speed as something that gets you out of trouble. My experience, after 49 years of motorcycling, is that it's inappropriate speed that gets most bikers into trouble. Riding without racing is perfectly OK you know. Stay safe.
@@EddieSetGo I am looking at used 2017 Street Twin and Street Cup with very low mileage 8k and 11k kms respectively. Can't seem to decide on which one to get, a racing yellow Street Cup or basic Street Twin.
My 18 model had a recall on the cable stay for the cable / harness on the left side of the frame at the steering neck. I removed the stay so the cable and harness could relax. Looked fine to me. Too confining at first. Too neat.
Hi Larry, I think the stay was added to keep the loom away from the headlight bracket but mine is nowhere near that. But as you say, the harness does seem a bit tight with the modification in place. Mine actually creaks when I put it on full lock. I’ll try your idea and test it out, thanks for the tip. The brand new ST seems to have only one thick cable in this area so it looks like some modification has taken place. Best wishes.
My initial thought when your review popped up was; Street Twin review? It's been around since 2016 with only a few modifications. But, nicely done. I enjoyed watching it. Your camera work was great. I respectfully couldn't disagree more on the Street Twin sounding better than the Speed Twin though. I've heard both literally side by side, and well I guess it comes down to personal preferences. They both sound fantastic, stock, but the Speed Twin had me cheering in the showroom.
Thank you for commenting and your feedback! Yeah, I did feel it could be a challenge reviewing a bike that’s been out for a while, but I just tried to focus on its merits and see it with fresh eyes. Haha, I guess the sound is subjective, but I’m happy you you’re a Speed Twin fan - did you end up getting one? 🏍
The Speed Twin has a more coarse and raspy sounding exhaust, compared with the smoother and more muted Street Twin. Which you prefer is up to your own tastes... I much prefer the Street Twin sound, personally... less exciting perhaps but easier to live with :)
6’2, 200 lb male. Never ridden a motorcycle before. Is this a good starter bike for someone like me? Obviously after learning and getting licensed and whatnot..
Hey Matthew. I think this is a perfect first bike. Low seat. Wide bars. Loads of fun power that will keep you smiling. It looks great too :) I'd double check how the bike feels with your feet on the pegs. With a low seat height it might put bend in the knees with your height. So do test ride for a good hour before buying.
It was okay at freeway speeds, more so than other naked bikes. I'd get a small screen perhaps to help with the wind, and the top speed? I think I topped 100mph+ comfortably ;)
@@whitmanft Now that... is a tough question. I’ve ridden the V7 only for a short ride, but... it’s a beautiful machine and feels more of a beast than the Street Twin. Do you want Italian style and character, because the V7 has stacks of it... or a classic and perhaps safer triumph? If I could have only one bike in my garage, it’ll be the Triumph. If I wanted a stylish second or third machine to cruise on weekends, I’d maybe pick the V7.
I can’t help but laugh when I hear someone with his accent reviewing the new Triumph motorcycles. He wasn’t born when I bought my 1967 Bonneville. Now THAT is a mans motorcycle. Still riding it in 2021 in Texas.
Street Twin (Now Speed Twin) is the literal definition if Sleeper Build..

There is a clock! Go through the options, Trip1, 2, mileage, rev counter and also clock. There is no temperature though...
Love your video. I'm looking for a new bike and yes, I think I have found it . Thank you
I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 🏍💨
Good looking bike. Triumph is the ultimate brand for retro style motorcycles
Awesome video and review. As professional as it can be. New subscriber.
Certainly keep on eye if one would appear on my radar
Good review, I have the same bike and love it, there is a clock accessed via the mode button.
Love the Street Twin ! Best all rounder motorcycle ! Nice video mate !
Thanks very much! It's a great bike :)
May not need to replace the stock version.
i like the whistle
wanted the speed twin but found a street twin for a good deal and might be picking it up tomorrow.
Describing the Street Twin (Speed Twin 900) as a beginner-, transition- or returner bike (as in most of the reviews) doesn't do it justice IMHO.
❤️👍
Great review. Really good!
I have an 07 Rocket III and thinking of going down in size but it’s HARD as my Rocket is still SUBLIME!
What about running higher speeds like interstate and highway 70 to 80 mph
i’m using a Puig universal shield with a small puig extender and the wind goes over my helmet…huge difference. this bike has no trouble running 85 all day
New subscriber- great production and narration really enjoyed it If I had some spare cash I'd love to buy one as a second bike, strip it down and smother it in after market touches such as the items from motone and turn it into an Urban ride
Thank you for subscribing, Keith! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I've also considered the Street Twin as a perfect second bike. Customise it and make it mine! Quite like the idea of a 'cafe racer' or 'stripped-back black apoloclyse rugged' bike :P
Which is better this of the T100 you reviewed? Thinking of both as an option will sometimes ride two up? Is there a difference in performance ?
What a beautiful machine !
Fantastic review mate!
Thanks mate! :) 🏍🔥
Love your blue leather jacket. Where did you get that?
I know this is pretty old now but, I'm looking into a triumph speed twin vs a starter sportsbike for my first bike, I have no riding experience but seeing the community made me interested, my question is though will sportsbike riders look only for other sportsbikes to cruise with or is this not a thing ?
Nice vidéo! Just a question : what is the brand of your blue jacket? looks great!
It's a Richa Daytona jacket, but I'm not sure they make it anymore. They have lots of cool jackets available though, very pleased with that one. :)
I love the way that you frame speed as something that gets you out of trouble. My experience, after 49 years of motorcycling, is that it's inappropriate speed that gets most bikers into trouble. Riding without racing is perfectly OK you know. Stay safe.
You had me at 5'7 5'8.. 😂 Same here, buddy.
Add as much height as I can buddy! 😂
I'm 5'5" 28" inseam and can flat foot, no problem.
Nice blue jacket too
Does it "chuff" at low revs, lower speed in the lower gears, sounds always in too high a gear?
I put a deposit on a Trident, but this review makes me want to rethink that...
The Street Twin is certainly worth a test ride, Marty! 👌🏻🏍
@@EddieSetGo I didn't notice a tachometer. Is that correct?
@@martyshmanka correct
@@surferdude642thanks. I find that strange on ANY motorcycle these days.
@@martyshmanka digital tacho is present from 2019 models
Great review sir. I’ve subscribed from NZ. You do speak in a Clarkson kind of way though. Just saying.
she is in my garage and a keeper
in houston and a bugger to aquire
my 2014 bonneville has a seat that ruins the ride, do these fare any better?
Good review, whats your recommendation on buying preowned 2017 Street Twin
Great value for money Satish. If it comes with a Triumph used warranty and service history, I'd be confident buying a used one for sure.
@@EddieSetGo I am looking at used 2017 Street Twin and Street Cup with very low mileage 8k and 11k kms respectively. Can't seem to decide on which one to get, a racing yellow Street Cup or basic Street Twin.
They pull good! Not a wheelie machine for me though.
❤ sehr schön....wo hast du die schöne Seite Tasche her ?
Hope the wiring issues been sorted on the new models.
Had mine recalled for a harness cover.
@@morini500dave Mine complete new harness with 1200 miles on clock not good .
No issues with mine so far.
@@EddieSetGo Not yet! It's on the list of bikes to test ride when I can, along with a Monster 821 and a HD Roadster.
The Speed Twin has a more coarse and raspy sounding exhaust, compared with the smoother and more muted Street Twin. Which you prefer is up to your own tastes... I much prefer the Street Twin sound, personally... less exciting perhaps but easier to live with :)
@@Thirsty_Fox I think there's one thing we can agree on and it's that the British parallel twin sounds fantastic across the board!
@@bc67 They sure do sound very nice, easily one of my favourite engine notes :)
Theres a clock on the 2017 model...And even that one has enough guts...same torque just down on HP
I have the 2020 one and the seat kills my a$$ I need to replace that seat ASAP.
Great video stay safe 🇬🇧👍
Hey Eddie. Does the the lack of 6th gear causes it to vibrate at highway speeds?
Hey Julio, I didn't notice any uncomfortable vibrations at motorway speeds. Comfy bike to ride long distance.
Very nice. To me a great all rounder.
Good hommage to worthy bike...
Thank you Pete! :)
Lovely bike that 😎
What blue leather jacket?
Richa Daytona :)
Home many RPM's does it make at 120km/h or 75/80 MPH?
I heard it is 3800 rpm in 5th (top gear) at 70 mph.
@@surferdude642 thank you!
The clock is there, just push the Scroll button 😊If anyone should wonder.
how do you think it does on the freeway traveling +70 mph...and for longer distances,,,and top speed?
It was okay at freeway speeds, more so than other naked bikes. I'd get a small screen perhaps to help with the wind, and the top speed? I think I topped 100mph+ comfortably ;)
@@EddieSetGo triumph street twin or moto guzzi v7..???
What year is this one? Is it reliable? Suspension over bumps?
This was the 2020 edition! Very smooth over bumps and predictable.
They are rather good!
No clock displaying? Oh no! Come on Triumph. Get with it!!!!!
It was my bad... there is a clock, you just have to cycle through the settings to find it!
Love my Bonnie it’s just civilised .
It’s a you can be Steve Davis or Ronnie O’Sullivan kind of bike . 😀🇬🇧🏍🦔
