Nah triumph actually have standards when building and detailing bikes. Royal Enfield do the bare minimum. The welds are of a very low standard, good penetration wise, but visually very poor. Any visible welds need to be pleasing to the eye. That's the only quality control metric preventing them from being truly competitive with Triumph.
Agree with you Motobob, however Triumph dealerships pretty poor the ones I have dealt with anyway. The build quality not as good as my friends 2013 Bonnie. Also the dreaded wiring issue that has plagued thousand of bikes including mine .Even heard of some older Tigers having wiring issues.

The only thing going for it is it's new and liquid cooled. The aircooled Bonnevilles are just as good. If you go for a Bonneville the only ones are the Speed Twin, and any 1200.
Nice video and timely reminder why I still have my 2017 ST and why I should keep it . The benefits are smiling every time I get on it and listen to the soundtrack and how much fun it is to ride . The seat height and mirrors were the biggest issue for me but easily remedied but swapping to a bench seat and bar end mirrors. I would like to have slightly more power and brakes with a bit more bite but the bike handles beautifully and great for B roads and light for city riding.
I loved riding the street twin I borrowed. It felt light and cheerful and torquey. But I used to own a 790 bonneville and although that felt heavier, it also felt faster than the street twin. And the old GS500 I own now, although it's got no torque low down, will really rev and feels stronger than the street after 60mph and will easily pull 90+ (on a private road). I love the street twin but I REALLY don't think it's £9000 worth of bike!
i am happy with my first edition ironstone color. Love how it sounds, and prefer the more RETRO look, (thats all about being retro). Although , i like this new wheels.
Would swapping out seats get this in the same leg room class as the 790mm Bonney? Or is there more to it than that? Is this a whole different frame and geometry than the scrambler and Bonney class models?
I agree at some points but in my opinion the street twin is not the best sound in triumph lineup, the street scrambler sound is more aggressive and clean. Street twin is really a very low bike, the lowest in boneville lineup except for the bobber, this is good but you need to be careful sometimes, I trade my street twin for a street scrambler because the twin was too low.
Hi Bob, got a question, if you were around 6ft and waned a 2nd bike for some fun drives out on weekends or midweek fair weather rides then would you go for a Street Twin or the Street Scrambler?
I know this post was made while ago but since I am considering this bike as my next one I am interested to know if you consider it being good for long rides. I like touring but I am short....
Hello from Texas! Thanks for the great review. Do you, (or anyone) have any suggestions for handguards for the Street Scrambler. Strangely, I simply cannot find any kit that does not require an odd assortment of parts, hacking, grinding, etc. for them to fit. Any thoughts would be helpful. Cheers.
Great review 👏 very informative, although I would prefer if reviewers talked in inches rather than millimetres. I think saying 30ins seat height or inside leg measurement sounds simple. I buy my jeans 32 32 not 812.8 812.8 keep it simple. Other than that, excellent 👌 review
@@motobob I was thinking of gearbox problems with the 900 cc Bonnevilles. Not all of them, but another channel has highlighted them. I like the Scrambler 1200, but that has electrical issues. I don't trust Triumphs.
the best thing about triumph was the straight seat. no matter what size you fit. these stupid bucket seats only fit one size. hear the new ones blow gear boxes. good luck.
I would say no. The seat height is pretty low and the girl I'm dating is about 5'4"- 5'5" and could flat foot it in boots Absolutely love this bike, especially for city riding which is what I use it mostly for. Highly recommend
You Brits have always built a better Harley than Harley ever did. I would be embarrassed to be sitting on a HD but proud to be sitting on that at a stoplight.
Looks great, there’s no disputing it! Not really on my radar… but I’d have to argue that £9k is not a minor amount (the ‘limited’ nature of this model) still does not justify the price. Although, it’d be fair to say that the entire Bonneville range is overpriced by varying degrees. I love my T120 it’s a great bike, but it was far from perfect and Triumph really should be putting better quality components on when fast approaching, and exceeding £10k! (think shocks… and brakes)! Great overview Bob, thanks 👍🏻
I'm trying to make my mind up whether to part chop my 19 plate Tiger XRX Low for a new ST or stick with the Tiger. The Tiger is just so large and high at the front. Any comments folks?
i had one and i loved it... now i have the speed twin 1200 and it´s waaaaaay more powerful, with waaaaay better brakes... it´s like a street twin on steroids
@@ANDY1985UK2011 you have much better brakes, you have more power and torque to overtake, you have better leaning angle… if you can pay extra for the speed twin 1200, it’s 100% worth it! but if you stay with the street twin 900, it’s a very good bike (and i think it’s exhaust note is much cooler)…
Good review but still found myself thinking why pay £9k for this bike when you can pay £6.2 for an Interceptor. Performance isn't the factor in this sector. You can spend £1k customising the RE and still have money left for a couple of holidays.

The build quality is good, but like any bike if you’re riding year round then it’ll look much better if you apply a lot of ACF, or get a pro motorcycle valet service to coat it in something. If I were you I’d ride both - the street twin has more soul than the tiger sport, but the windscreen will be a massive advantage when it’s cold and wet 👍

Hello, guys!
You think its the street twin 900 a good beginer bike?? Easy to handle, to drive? Thanks!! Wish you all the best!
It’s perfect! The engine is easy to get on with but fun, and the seat is nice and low
What if compare it to new street scrambler? What’s yours opinion guys?
Hello from Texas! Thanks for the great review. Do you, (or anyone) have any suggestions for handguards for the Street Scrambler. Strangely, I simply cannot find any kit that does not require an odd assortment of parts, hacking, grinding, etc. for them to fit. Any thoughts would be helpful. Cheers.
The looks is exactly why I’m here watching this video.
I loved my test ride on a Street Twin, but brought a Trident as the Street Twin was too dam heavy for me
Hello guys. Looking for my first bike trying to decide between this one and the t120. Which one would you guys recommend?
Haha
I'm in the same boat
Have you got anything?
@@flesz_ T120 bought it last year for my 29th birthday! Love it!
@@martinesquivel5434 nice!
Enjoy
What a beautiful bike!!
Hate the discoloured down pipes, black wheels , too much matt black but good looking silencers.
Well done Bob!
Think this one is the right size for me at 5' 6" w/28" inseam
These bikes are physically too small if you are six feet. I feel cramped on one. Are they reliable?
Mine's been good - there was a problem with the harness rubbing the headstock on the first gen but should be fixed under recall
@@motobob I was thinking of gearbox problems with the 900 cc Bonnevilles. Not all of them, but another channel has highlighted them. I like the Scrambler 1200, but that has electrical issues. I don't trust Triumphs.
@@motobob I had that problem too and it resulted in my indicators failing.
the best thing about triumph was the straight seat. no matter what size you fit. these stupid bucket seats only fit one size. hear the new ones blow gear boxes. good luck.
Is the ST Seat Hight too high for a rider 5’3” with 28” inseam? Thank you.
I would say no. The seat height is pretty low and the girl I'm dating is about 5'4"- 5'5" and could flat foot it in boots
Absolutely love this bike, especially for city riding which is what I use it mostly for. Highly recommend
Just a question: is a good bike, this or it's cousin T100, for a week (or more) long long long ride ?
Great video! And a lovely looking bike!
What about for a daily commute?
which bike would you choose, street twin or scrambler night shift?
Beautiful bike.
You Brits have always built a better Harley than Harley ever did. I would be embarrassed to be sitting on a HD but proud to be sitting on that at a stoplight.
Rumour has it Triumph are doing a GoldLine edition on the Rocket next year….
That thing looks soooooo beautiful
I'm trying to make my mind up whether to part chop my 19 plate Tiger XRX Low for a new ST or stick with the Tiger. The Tiger is just so large and high at the front. Any comments folks?
i had one and i loved it... now i have the speed twin 1200 and it´s waaaaaay more powerful, with waaaaay better brakes... it´s like a street twin on steroids
Bruno Presotto what's the difference on the motorway/highway ?
@@ANDY1985UK2011 you have much better brakes, you have more power and torque to overtake, you have better leaning angle… if you can pay extra for the speed twin 1200, it’s 100% worth it! but if you stay with the street twin 900, it’s a very good bike (and i think it’s exhaust note is much cooler)…
you arrived at the end of the 7th inning. she is cool
Good review but still found myself thinking why pay £9k for this bike when you can pay £6.2 for an Interceptor. Performance isn't the factor in this sector. You can spend £1k customising the RE and still have money left for a couple of holidays.
Which ones more reliable and which is more expensive to maintain?
Can it handle 70-75 mph on the highway for 50-75 miles?
Interceptor will do ❤️...
Miss my Street Twin. Most fun bike I ever owned. Wish they had spoked wheels instead of cast wheels. Otherwise perfect motorcycle
what you actual bike? i'm considering trade mine for a 1200cc one
@@cesarteteko I’m currently riding 2014 Honda CB1100. Great bike and does everything perfectly, but doesn’t have the “Soul” of my Triumph. It’s hard to explain. But the power and comfort of the bigger bike is nice for sure
Now the new ST is on my possible new bike list (currently on a 16 iron 883) which is falling apart lol
So question is the ST a good all year bike for uk averaging 8k miles a year build quality paint finish etc
As my sensible side of brain voice is saying the new triumph tiger 660 is the bike i should have etc but its not a classic looking bike etc🤣
@@motobob thanks yes i use acf but denim HD paint is s##t lol
Thats my issue can only have one bike my sensible bit of brain is saying tiger for tge above reasons better weather protection tyres are great but they dont make them in size for cruiser style wheels
But the ither side of my brain is saying tiger to boring the ST lol
Once i have funds for new bike i shall test ride both only other thing is im a short arse 5'7 and tiger seat height etc
Cheers
@@jedispunk7280 at 5’7” I would look for a good example of a used gen 2 street twin. It gets all of the upgraded brakes and extra power etc, but still with the 750mm low seat of the 1st gen
Oh wait... that's wrong. It's the first gen that was 750. Then the second gen 760. Then 765 for this year. BUT you could get a first gen seat on eBay? There'll be loads of them. Less padding but 15mm lower
So how are the vibes at 70mph> I ride the California freeways mostly and don't want the bike to strain to keep up with traffic.
probably need the 1200cc speed twin
It appears there is no tachometer. Is that correct?
digital tacho available from 2019 models
2:59. Good one 😉
LOVE MY 2019 ST 900. i ASK WHY THEY DON'T HAVE THE CLOCK ON EVERY PAGE ? GO THRU MENUS TO FIND THE TIME WHEN THERE IS SPACE ABOVE THE RPM; THE SAME SIZE AS THE GEAR DISPALY. eVEN THE NEW ONES HAVE ONE PAGE WITH THE TIME !!! HELLOOOOOOOO. DISAPPOINTED IN THE HANDLEBAR FRAME ANGLED ON THE 900; TO NOT BE E TO ADD RISERS. 25MM UP AND BACK REQUIERS SOME CABLE MODS. WHY NOT DESIGN THIS IN ?
Why oh why did Triumph not fit a gold chain to finish the job ?
Small detail, but something Triumph normally pride themselves in.
