I don't often comment on videos, but when I do, it has a reason.
As a person who often has to rely on support videos I must say dear Mystic this video should be promoted by Sony as the official way on how to install this SSD. The instuctions are cystal clear from A until Z. From the simple "tug the left corner to remove the lid", to, "insert the SSD under a slight angle and push in gently until you hear a click". Even in the end, where you say, line up the 3 tabs and then push close on the left corner. Then you also follow up with, when you power the console on, it will show to format the SSD.
What i'm trying to say is, in comparison to sometimes other videos, you absolutely leave 0 blind spots in your instruction video. Therefore my biggest thanks in this.
Now he will move on to do it in other languages too. He is the best
I might get one soon, or wait for a PS5 Pro if that even exists. The world of playstation and nintendo is my ❤

4TB SSD's were $1,000 2 years ago and now they go on sale for $200.
Next to nobody will pay $1,000 for a 8TB SSD. Therefore, retail stores won't stock them.
But my wallet won't support it

When I bought my 2tb M.2 earlier this year I bought it direct from Crucial and they were not only doing the SSD on sale but you could add the heatsink for just 1p and postage was free, despite it coming from another country (Poland or Czech republic I think).
Was a much better deal than buying it from Amazon.

So I just got a 4 TB SSD with heat sink from game stop for like 269 and had to watch this video on how to install it. And if im not mistaken it was this exact video that was recommended by the employee there. It was exactly as he described. Very short, very clear instructions and very helpful. Thank you so much. I've been worried about doing this myself because I didn't want to break my console but you showed me how easy it was. Honestly the hardest part was finding the screwdriver because I'm in a hotel lol
I would be surprised if any other channel gets this amount of quality in a video this short.
Other channels would stretch it out to 10 minutes long to get that extra ad revenue

Your cat is always trying to see what you're up to 😂. Also, I would add to the list the Corsair MP600 PRO LPX M.2 NVMe PCIe x4 Gen4 SSD. I saw on Amazon the 4tb SSD (which will give you like 100 games or a lil more) is still $280.
Looks easier to setup on the Slim since you only take off the top back instead of the entire back. This will make it better for most people installing an SSD for the first time or going through another round for a transfer or upgrade.
You make it sound like if you need a college degree in Engineering in order to install an M.2 SSD in the original PS5.

its easy to install and the video shows it well. i bought a Crucial T500 ssd on Amazon which runs fine with PS5 at speed of 7300 mo/sec. at a reasonable price.

I have a 4tb ssd in my ps5 that technically isn't ps5 compatible but I have not had any issues with it at all. It's 4.9 gigs a second fast and it runs everything perfectly
4.9GBPS is actually pretty decent! My SN850 does 5.5 and it’s ample range for playing/transferring 👍🏼
@Kronorium yea it's faster than what's in my desktop. The ps5 says 5.5 and higher is the supported speed but I have not had any issues with it.

Excellent. Just got a 2TB WD Black NVME SSD on sale for my PS5 Slim. I recommend everyone to buy a passive heatsink for their NVME SSD if the one you buy doesn't have one built in. The M.2 expansion slot has very poor cooling especially with the metal cover on, it relies on negative pressure from the fan to suck out hot air from the expansion slot and SSD, this method of cooling literally sucks because it allows the SSD to get as hot as it can. With SSDs, once it gets too hot it'll cause thermal throttling, drastically reducing its performance but the more serious issue is it greatly reduces its lifespan
Yeah luckily most all everyone getting SSDs for their PS5s are getting ones with a heat sink. I’m sure over 95% of them are gonna have a heat sink built in.
I bought a 2 TB Samsung 980 Pro and attempted to install at least 5 times, watched andozen videos, and the console wouldn't even register its existence. Found an article regarding LOTS of issues with Samsung. Got a 2 TB officially licensed WD & it worked perfectly the first time I installed it. Had me freaking out that my ps5 was broken for a minute.

@@Cosmic_Visitors yea man watch a few videos on YT before installing. It'll probably work, there's just a lot of manufacturing defects in that brand. I hear Samsung cutting corners lately on parts

Oh they've replaced the screws with standard Philip head one's that's good then 👌 ordered a ps5 slim yesterday and a ssd for it but lost the screwdriver for the old style screws so that's nice to know

When you thread in the screw, should the SSD still be hovering a bit? Or should you screw all the way so that the SSD is fully forced down with no hovering?
No hovering. Should be flat. Don’t over tighten the screw though

I have an ps5 digital edition when i took the cover out i see just the fan and thats it. It looks like that i dont have the place for the ssd. Or i missing/ not done something right. So where is the place for it.
