from the way Obote spoke, it looked like there was peace in the country but there was no peace, the country was embroiled in civil war by guerrilla rebels led by yoweri museveni against the government. Though Obote mentioned Kaunda's visit as a state visit, it was more than that, Obote was courting Kaunda for military aid/support against the advancing rebels.

it was 84, election was coming up, there were conflicts going on in some western parts of the country, so it is understandable he had to let his party known.

Your comment is not only ridiculous it's stupid. You forget Obote did not believe in hereditary rights and he abolished the monarchy to establish a Republic why would he then be a monarch. Ridiculous!

There is not need for tribal kings and queens in Uganda. We need one King and one queen for all Ugandans but if we cannot get that, then we better have only president.

Ongwen Laodog, this guy isn't asking where the speech was made, rather he is making insulting remarks against Obote. It's a common derogatory remarks always used by some Baganda against Obote. It's not a kind word, it's not Kan Kwene like you have interpreted it.

Read many books written by some Ugandans who love the country with an open eye, then you will find exactly what happened in 1966 and why. But if you are being told by some of the past policians, then take care. They are not afraid to lie.
