Arp 2000 head studs, Plazmaman 600kw valve springs, fresh rebuild on everything else so new main bearings, piston rings, block and head were machined mls head gasket, valve seats machined aswell as valves, new stem seals. Machined crankshaft big bf 3r rods, and maybe a couple other things I forgot. Still gonna run my same fuel and turbo setup but won't have limitations of spaghetti rods so hoping for around 500 to 550whp for now. Eventually I'll get bigger injectors and turn it up a bit more but just want it on the road now 🤣. Motors out of a force 6 which I thought is kinda cool.
Sounds pretty good when open, I always wondered what sort of restriction those mufflers were when the valves are closed, by the graphic they had on their website a while ago they looked pretty restrictive. And I’m expert at the dodgey fuel gauge thing, both my XF and BA XR8 have very deceptive fuel gauges, I always carry a jerry with fuel in it in the back. The XF is extra fun cause neither the fuel gauge or odometer work so it’s always a guessing game on how much more juice it has in it... the jerry has saved me more times than I can count on 3 hands 🤪
Haha, oh yeah.. I had a Jerry and I had already topped it up. I found that the fuel pressure line had split and was leaking fuel at a reasonable rate while I was driving along. They are very restrictive closed, anything over 2500rpm just goes pig rich at WOT.

Haha, I laughed as well. 13k is pretty decent for either at the moment mate :) budget a little extra to get the bushes and timing set done and you should be sweet.
*opens varex* let me sing you the sound of my people 😂 Honestly I think it sounds OK for the flexibility it gives. If it means you can drive the car more often then that's a win. The older I get, the more appealing that is. Maybe just my speakers but it does sound a bit more "tinny" with that muffler... maybe because of the characteristics of the stainless? Would be interesting to see you do some "straight thru" different muffler testing on these engines. One to throw in the mix could be a Reaper Engineering muffler.
Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the low rpm sound, but up top it's nice in the car. I would like to put a couple resonators or anti reversion chambers in and hopefully make it sound smoother at low rpm. Ill check out the Reaper, cheers.

This is a whole new exhaust made form some of the salvageable pieces of the old unit. Same basic design, more x pipe merge. The car community really is great sometimes!

Hi mate, I run the Powerbond 25% UD kit. There were other brands that were designed for the 4,6 and apparently had issues with dampening, but I have had zero issues with mine. 7200rpm using them on the stock oil pump then up to 8000 on the billet oil pump gears.

I had a varex. Great idea, worked well. But it couldn't cope with circuit laps. The plastic gearbox melts... But otherwise, great.

As a gen f gts owner. Nice car N/A is always nice. I found when I had my cammed ss and a 2.5" with a varex I found it lost some tone.

Had a varex on my old supra, ended up with using a HKS hyper something muffler at the back

There would probably be about a 250hp difference 😅 it doesn't make alot of power after 3000rpm with it closed.

4into1 headers, exhaust, cold air intake, plenum spacer and a tune. Add some shorter diff gears and it will move really nicely!
Oh and considering it's an early 5.4, look into a rear head cooling mod so you don't run the exhaust valves too hot in the rear cylinders 🙂
