That's giving those LS Boys something to think about mate! Awesome. The old tailshaft is a lethal weapon at speed, my cousin had an XT Falcon tailshaft come up through the floor a few years ago whilst he was dynoing it. 140 mph on the speedo and it did the old Houdini trick! It left the bloody yoke in the toploader would you believe, and made a hell of a mess of the Car! The Customer wanted him to run it to 150mph, needless to say, it never made it! 🙈🤣
Thats terrifying!! I'll be organising a loop for the repair work. I can't imagine running unknown cars up on the dyno 😬. But thanks, yeah some of the cammed LS cars probably got a little surprise 😉

Hi Blake, watching your channel you have some really good content, have enjoyed the education and the enjoyment. I have recently got my hands on a 2003 ba xr8 5spd lowered history unknown, has had the front cover off the motor perhaps to change pump gears or timing chain as its done a few K's 320k at this stage. otherwise seems pretty stock. question, im looking to get a tune, but wondering what if any mods are worth performing before i do this? thinking cold air induction and maybe thicker plenum gasket. I know the first series 260's have some limitations, but dont know anyone here in melbourne to pick the brains of. cheers mate great channel Keep it up!
Hi mate, thanks for watching! 🙂 Nice pick-up with the Xr8. If you are going to get pay for a tune, and you want the best bang for buck. I'd go with headers, exhaust, plenum spacer and if you have to time and a few tools, half shaft and knife edge the factory throttle body as this will require slight changes to the airflow tables afterwards and gets you another 8% extra cross sectional area. The biggest gain you will make will be going to a set of 3.9' or 4.11 diff gears though. Either way, it will be alot quicker afterwards! Let me know how you go mate
@@GapSauceRUclips thank you for your reply, after watching your vid where you covered the throtal body I pulled it apart gave it a good clean pulled the palte/ disc off got a bit stumped on the shaft does that push out? I was more focused on getting her running as I was replacing coil pack and plugs. She has an exhaust but I think stock manifolds is it a motor our job for headers?
From memory there is a circlip behind the plastic cover 🤔 Installing headers was a pain in the car. Had to jack the engine up and remove accessories, steering shaft etc

Hi mate! I've just discovered this channel. You've inspired me to finally tune my BA XR8. Love your cammed GT. It's a beast. Mine is a Vixen Red 5 speed manual. First on the list is a full timing chain kit then I'll get to the mods. I'm thinking intake tune and full exhaust first but might just skip to cams and twin throttle body intake as well. Cheers.

Haha yeah, they aren't too quick stock. But not alot are stock anymore either. I upgraded the pump with the cams and chains 🙂

Do you have a aftermarket shifter? I have a mal wood and there's no way i can miss 3rd. Can't miss any gears tbh, but it is a bit of work on the street as its heavy and needs quite a bit of force to keep it out of 3rd 4th gate.
Factory shifter, it was fine until I started trying to shift up around 7500. Inertia of the single plate clutch can make it easy to lock out. When the oil gets warm it can be tricky to shift quickly too. I'm keen to try the Mal wood shifter though 🙂

Hahaha as long as they aren't too upset, the boys in the golf weren't going to let me get an even start, I had to try really hard to jump them to get a half even run 😅 Most people were hanging back real far, I guess they were thinking I'd be alot slower and they would go past 🤔🤷♂️

I don't know what the diff ratio is like in them but it seems I had the advantage. It was lumpy as hell when it pulled up to the servo, and insanely loud! Yeah definitely be good to see you put there mate! We need more Ford v8s!

I put every race in mate, have a skip thru the vids, there are a couple near the end too 🙂 You said full bolt ons "around 300" earlier that morning, hence the caption. 😅 perhaps it was just a miscommunication. It goes really well either way! Yeah I lost a few pieces unfortunately, just glad it was at a slower speed!
Our runs were probably the closest of the morning for me. So much fun, cheers!

also sucks about the tailshaft, we replace alot of them at the shop on higher hp cars that tear them to shreds, had a zf in yesturday that actually snapped all the bolts on the flange, was fun getting those out,

7200 before cams, peak power was at 6300 or so. Peak is now 7400, hard cut is 7700.

Hey mate, not sure if you can use it but I have a tailshaft in my bf mk1 xr8 I'm parting out. Its out of a zf 6spd auto xr8. Not sure if they're different then the manuals but if your in need of one I'm in south brissy. I've also got a ton of other boss parts etc aswell.
