  • This is a How to video to remove Jeep CJ, YJ, TJ, JK, JKU, JL windshield frame bolts after the torque strips out the bolt head.
This is a simple how to video on how to remove the windshield bolts with a drill bit and easy outs/ extraction tools. This does not always work and sometimes you still have to drill out and tap the 5/16" bolt or bolts.

If you have room to use then they are great. There are a lot of locations there is no room to use one.

Awesome sauce! Thanks. I just stripped one really good and starting to on the other side. Someone else was advising to use a propane tank but I’m concerned about the paint. This I’m going to try right now. I was trying my extractor bits like yours but the technique was slightly different. 👍

Good tips. I had some that were badly ate up. They ruined my lisle made in USA torx bit. I went to auto zone and it was made in Taiwan. It survived the worst ones and did the job with no damage to the tool. Surprised me. I'm always USA.

I’m going crazy. I’ve tried this too and the easy out is stripping thru too. I think I’m going to have to use my drummel and cut a line for a flat head. 😵‍💫🤬

Drilling the head off. Then make sure you verify the drill was centered in the bolt. Then drill a hole in the center and see if that will relive the pressure enough to easy out the bolt. I’ve had some that were so bad I’d have to make a new plate.

Just weld a nut to the head of the bolt.
