    Is this a tutorial or are you just showing what you can do? It would be helpful to know the steps you took, materials used, what type of finish you applied. Are those tire shields available for purchase or did you make them?

    Hi, would you not need to paint the inner gloss black in a refurbish?
    If you do need to how would you go about it?
    Can you laquer the gloss black without sanding it down?
    Thanks

    • @wheelsone6180
      @wheelsone6180 Год назад

      Not if there isn't any damage, just scuff like he did, when you reclear the wheel it will again be glossy.
      If so, tape off the face, repair pocket/s, prime, paint, remove tape from face and clear whole wheel. Or do pockets first, then do the faux diamond cut then clear whole wheel.
      Yes and no, it does need scuffed with either a red or gray scotch brite pad 1st, then re cleared. If you just spray clear. lacquer over gloss it will look like crap, won't stick, fish eye and never last.

      Unless it’s a super expensive car I don’t think a lath is required. Besides these refurbished wheels would start loosing lacquer and corrode after 2-3 years anyway.
      How do I know this -
      I am currently experiencing it on my vehicle . I have refurbished them by one of the leading wheel refurbishes (no names being taken here).

      You can buy a brand new car and in 3 years they start to bubble. Only takes a few small chips or stones for salt off the road to start to corrode them

      Shocking start to finish !!! No axel stand under front sill incase jack fails !!! Wheel nuts just thrown all over the place !!!
      Using what sounds like a grinder disc not a 180 flap disc ! When it’s so much quicker to use a 120 to a 320 600 on a rotary polisher !!
      And vans a shit tip !!! No ventilation nothing !!

    You know what you’re doing. But where do you think that fine aluminum dust from all that grinding is going? I can see the cloud in the video and I didn’t see any eye protection or mask on your head.
    I’ve been doing paint rims you name for 50 years. I like it. But it. I’ve also known guys that were in a hurry,I got downdraft I’m outside I’m an idiot and they all have one thing in common. They don’t have to care anymore. Get you some quality goggles that fit over a particulate respirator when you’re grinding that aluminum,pal. Or not,but you don’t want to know what that fine aluminim dust does to your lungs and eyes after awhile.
