This game came out during a time when I was obsessed with X-Men trading cards, comics and the animated series. Seeing it being played on the jumbo screen at our local arcade was pure magic, it was a great time to be a kid.
TH Psylocke was part of the xmen since the 70's after their resurrection in the comics, she was part of the third wave and had spotlight on 1993 when Jim Lee was the artist for xmen and uncanny xmen. Also Captain Britain is the brother of Betsy Bradock(psylocke)
I don't know where to start with COTA: From the incredible Soundtrack, SEXY exotic animation of Characters(Psylock personal fave ❤), or Capcom doing their homework and casting the voice actors from the Xmen tv series. Having discovered this game recently, between the superhero theme, the slower pace, the meter system and the stage transitions, I realized COTA is just... An older, prettier, smoother, much better version of the Injustice games. Huh.
Psylocke was a member of the X-men by the early 90s run by Jim Lee. In 96, she had to fight Saber Tooth( due to Boomers negligence) and was brutally beaten. No worries though, she recovered!
I played this game on the Saturn. It was obscene, in the sense that (compared to previous generation) animations had an obscene number of frames, size, crispiness, no flickering and incredible music and sound. The hit sound of strong kick of Sentinel is so powerful that it almost hurts.
Awesome game!!! Really fun to play. But a tip. Don't use the red border on the thumbnail because it looked like i've allready watched the video. Almost missed this.

A minor correction: The PlayStation and PC ports most certainly *do* have a code to allow you to play as Juggernaut and Magneto, as well as Akuma with button combinations on the character select screen. Sure, it was pretty busted from a gameplay standpoint, but it was also simply incredible for it's time. I really wish Capcom would make a true sequel to Marvel Super Heroes, an all Marvel fighter, with or without tag team action. I think the key reason this game was so good is that its a true labor of love. I heard that Capcom staff were getting translations of XMEN circulating in the office and were fans BEFORE asking Marvel if they could make this game. That combined with giving us an anime look to already beloved characters just made this a stand out. Sentinel in this game set the gold standard for massive characters in fighters and utterly destroyed the source material in terms of complexity and downright awesomeness. This also created many a Psylocke fan as she was largely left out of the animated series and was only recently added to the main XMEN comics. I almost had my first girlfriend because of this game. The game was just recently released. While I was playing, suddenly a beautiful girl challenged me. She chose Spiral while I was playing Wolverine. I was so focused on the game that I beat her immediately. She looked and me and stuck her tongue out and left. I later realized that I should have let her win perhaps I could have asked her name and became my friend. I was 15 at that time and was still naive. It was a fun memory though.
Konami's arcade game may have missed out on being a tie-in to the then cartoon series, but at least Capcom made up for it by having the VA's in some of these games, not to mention their common 90's designs.

Still have it for Saturn and PS1.
