Holy crap that is amazing. I absolutely love the Euphonium especially on dynamic and graceful songs such as Rhapsody. It is an amazing song and played by an amazing player. I absolutely love this piece and I envy him and want to become that good.
Amazing piece. I knew Mr. Curnow many many years ago when I was with the Salvation Army. One of his daughters was a childhood sweetheart of mine. Such a great time.
Thanks for posting this!made it to state solo and ensamble with this piece, and i listened to this to get the idea of what it was supposed to sound like.thank you!
I was just really getting into playing well and then covid hit before my first whole year off it was over and I didn’t play for three years so I’m starting over with a bunch of people way ahead of me. Hopefully I can play like this before senior year
I am working on this for my jury piece for my euphonium lessons this semester. It is actually beyond my capabilities, and I only have a short time to prepare, but I'm going to give it the "college try" as they say. This recording will help a lot. I noticed a few slight changes compared to the sheet music I have. It sounded like in a few places it was taken down to a lower note for one or two notes, and instead of holding the last note over there measures there was a breath and then re-hitting the same not. Am I hearing this right? Or possibly my sheet music has a few errors.
A very Beautiful piece Im learning this for High School Solo contest because my director said i needed a step down from the one I used to score a 1 at state last year.
I'm playing this piece for my freshman year solo and ensemble. I'm hoping to earn my letterman jacket off of this song and this video is helping me learn very much. What's also cool is that my sister is playing the piano.
Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately, I do not want to break copyright laws by sending the accompaniment to your email. You can purchase it fairly inexpensively on sites such as JustForBrass.
Thanks! It wasn't a recital or anything special. I needed to make some videos for potential graduate school auditions. This was actually the first and only take of this piece.
So where did you end up going to grad school? Where are you playing now? Thank you so much for posting this! It’s helping my daughter prepare for solo and ensemble!
Any special advice for playing this piece? I'll be (hopefully) auditioning for the UT school of music with this piece. Any help would be great, I love this!
I hate to ask because I'm sure many people do, but any advice on playing valved low brass? I play through high/low woodwinds and high brass. But outside of a marching field(HBCU style) I have very litlle low brass experience and am having a tough time getting a great sound out of my baritone(I need to sound good before i start on a euph, in my opinion)
Not sure why you think you need to get a good sound out of your baritone first. The two instruments don't sound too similar, and I definitely sound a million times better on the euph than the baritone just because the baritone doesn't have as pleasant of a sound. However, one thing I will say is use lots and lots of air. Lots of air creates a good tone.
Sean Griffin I may not have worded that correctly, I mean i already own my baritone and i'd rather figure it out well enough before getting another. And i guess it seems like any other instrument with air being key. As a side note i wouldn't the baritone isn't as pleasant, just a bit of a different timbre
This is incredible. Is this for a college recital? I'm currently trying to find music for auditions going into my senior year of high school. Absolutely beautiful, man,
Hi, I am playing this for my first solo and ensembles. I mostly have everything down, but I wanted to know what did you do exactly to learn this piece. I have trouble with the sixteenth notes and hitting that high "A" and "G" on command. Please reply back if you can.
For the sixteenth notes, focus on moving the air through the entirety of the line. The notes will be "short" because of the articulation, but do not let the air slow down. For playing the upper notes, practice singing and hearing the intervals in order to get your mind more comfortable with the notes. This will help with staying calm with your air and embouchure when approaching them. It is also helpful to practice playing the upper notes isolated. This will help you to build muscle memory for those notes. Best of luck!
Alejandro Escobar It is best to be sure you are using a very consistent air stream throughout all of the faster notes. The articulation will take care of the style at this tempo, but there will be no sound without a properly supported column of air. Best of luck!
Thanks! It wasn't a recital or anything special. I needed to make some videos for potential graduate school auditions. This was actually the first and only take of this piece.
Euphoniums truly make the most beautiful sound in any band... I love playing mine :D

LowReedExpert1 Ah ok. And I didn't really mean it's unpleasant, I just personally prefer the euphonium sound to the baritone a lot more.
@@seangriffin5967 exactly, and he might prefer the baritone sound over the euph so he might think it’s more pleasant maybe lol

Can this be played with any tempo?
Alguien me podria ayudar con las partes de piano de esta magnifica obra?
I love this recording though I think its a BIT slow in places.
Isn't the point of it to be slow in places and fast in places?
im playing this for my 8th grade solo contest
it's written in C, but it's playing in D?
Its written in F
You're right
What is this piece called
