- Today I thought I would get to removing the core, but only managed to remove the stringer. Don’t think it will be ready for the summer aha

Good on ya, let’s keep all these old High Performance boats going. I’m in Canada rebuilding a 89 Charger SK. It’s a messy itchy job that I have been chipping away at for just over a year. I’m at the put it back together stage and man it feels good to do it myself.
Keep up the good work buddy!
Love what you're doing. Can I interest you in some protective eyewear and a breathing mask rated for fiberglass particles. Nasty stuff when it gets in your eyes or lungs. Work safe my fellow Hydrostream owner.
Welcome to one of the dirtiest jobs out there. Don't be shy, grab an angle grinder, and some cut off discs and go to town, cut the top off the core, and start ripping it all out. The more rotten, the better. It comes out easier. I suggest building some bracing under the boat with some 2x4 or similar to support the hull. It gets super flimsy when it's cut apart. You'll want to get the foam out of the sides as well. Or at least cut into the bottom at the back and make sure it's dry. Get some 40grit flap wheels for a 4.5" and 7" grinder and go to town. Where abouts are you located? There are lots of good videos and info out there.
I'm rebuilding 2 18ft piranha tunnel hulls right now...one for me and one for my son..we will be drag racing them ...been about 6 years since I rebuilt a boat...I just stopped itching 😅
Please wear a mask when cutting and grinding fibreglass, looking forward to further progress on an awesome boat.
angle grinders are your friend.... get the bauer 7 inch grinder, backing pad and fiber discs just grind it all out multi tool takes way too long
