I heard this in 2006 age 18 and it still to this day feels the same. This album is part of my existence. Each lyric are words from my world I experience. I may not know me all the time but i know this shit will always be a part of me.
yup me too, same age too. I found them on myspace, but i had heard about them through audioscrobbler. Steven Malkmus from Pavement had their album "Sung Tongs" as a favorite.
I'm a 43 year-old guitar player, steeped in classic rock, grateful dead, bluegrass, etc but I have always had an appetite for real creative art, and folks, that's what this is. At first I found it amusing and just plain odd, but clearly art. Now it's growing on me as music. I'll bet there aren't too many old geezers like me capable of listening to this stuff. but I really like this song. i'm about to listen for the third time in a row.
sparkomatic - 43? Geezer?! Let me tell you what a fuc_in geezer is: ME! 65 yrs old. My son introduced the Feels LP to me 10 yrs ago and I treasure it. I guarantee you this is what Brian Wilson would’ve done had he been born 30 yrs later AND he’d heard his own Pet Sounds AND he’d taken more acid AND (fill in your own story).
animal collective most definitely still makes music! Merriweather Post Pavillion came out this January and I believe they've released another EP not too long ago
This song gives me such good memories... It was one of the first Animal Collective' songs that I heard and that introduced me in this "hipster world" in which I live now. Before that, I used to listen to Black Eyed Peas, David Guetta, Panic! At The Disco... And, in that time, I found "Grass" pretty accessible (in oppose to songs like "My Girls", which I appreciated, but didn't find it accessible as "Grass"), funny and different of all I had listened.
Does anyone else find it odd that the official video posted by their record label would contain such over compressed/low quality audio? Sounds like a windows media file...
harivjul Yeah things were different 8 years ago, which is why it seems odd to keep such a low quality audio version of this up when it would be very simple to upload a very high quality version. And it'd be one thing if this song was recorded "lo-fi", however, the album version (and the whole album) sound terrific, which is my whole point: this doesn't do the song justice! It's 2014. Come on!
Paul Nevins Totally agree with you! I just listened to my own copy of this song and it sounded AMAZINGORGASMICCZZ@#!@~!# and I listen to this and it's like...it's OKAY. I guess. Yeah it's good but damn let's get a better version on there so I can share it with the world!
i was walking on feet just like my fathers and my knees were trying to reach you at your mothers cause my nose was screaming that you smelled like a lover but my hands were happy to treat you like a brother then we do the dance up on the plains then i shake your shoulders you push me down into the grains who rubs our noses in the night? we do we do pow pow now now pow pow now now ive been into the plants and simple treasures and i sew patches on pants and i get pleasure and i dont make particular plans cause they dont matter if you keep on foolin in bed with my sleeping patterns we do the dance up on the plains then i shake your shoulders you push me down into the grains who rubs our noses in the night? we do we do Whats with all the changes since the time i was aware its like the apple eating people that we once were arent there Did they empty out their pockets and debase their younger faces and you must make sure your happy when you leave your summer places pretty little femur sitting in my cherry dream boat id be sad if your rejected from my hip bone and my knee if i sailed away from continents and touched my lovers hair then youd be very happy if i touched her there Youd be very happy if i touched her there, i was very nervous how i felt in there i was very cautious whatd you say hey there would you like to see me often though you dont need to see me often cause id like to see you often though i dont need to see you often we do the dance up on the plains then i shake your shoulders you push me down into the grains who rubs our noses in the night? we do we do
Thanks everyone for the kind feedback! I've been toying around with an acoustic version of this song, with banjo. I'll try to find the time to do it and post it. Be well.
@TheVampireFeed yes, I know. But if you'd take notice, the comment was made a while ago during a debate in which people were making comparisons between the two.
i know what you mean! the first time i heard this song (it was the first time i had ever heard AC), i was honestly scared haha. but it takes a few complete listens to get the melody and the mood of the song. i love it!
Jeeeeesus, I don't think anyone at my school would have even heard of them! Saying that, I'm at uni these days and they did come play at our union, which was sweeeeet as.
I remember when I thought that music was gonna keep going downhill, and that classic rock would be my only escape, but the tides of taste have turned, it seems.
Wow, did not catch the XTC references and sound, but you are right! They do have some XTC in them. I always also thought they sounded like a mix between early Pink Floyd (Syd B.) and the Beach Boys. At least the tung songs and before.
@Pjuker MGMT is my favourite band but I really don't see the resemblance.... well, this one has a touch of similarity but people compare them all the time and they don't sound all that alike.
@bezwaarlijketruffel ps--the opening line of this song "I've been walkin on feet just like my father's" reminds me of the line from grateful dead franklin's tower "Your eyes look from your mother's face." a reference to the genetic links passed down through the generations.
what are they doing at 2:12? the only other thing i have to say is: if i had control of everything thumb in the universe, i'd put them all up for animal collective.
my friend told me to listen to this song cuz he listens to this type of music. so i did. and i didnt like it wat so ever. it was hella weird. bt a day later i hella wanted to listen to it. and i just cant get enough!(:
this was playing on the morning announcements at my school the other day. you can't imagine how ecstatic i was.

did you get more into AnCo in the past 12 years, mr. sparkomatic?
POW POW POW!!!!!
that's some 2006 quality right there
the low quality audio gives this a nice charm tbh
I love it when Avey screams.
I just turned 147 and this makes me feel more alive than when I was 13.

I swear since the first time I heard this song, I still think it's one of the most amazing crazy things I've ever heard.
Its a euphoric high.
I think this song, we tigers, fireworks and kids on holiday all have a great ambience to them. its as if your swimming in sound.
so amazing. especially the beginning. it practically hypnotizes you. and avey tare's vocals are so catchy. animal collective is amazing.
one of the best love sings of all time ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Animal Collective. Forever.
though i'm very certain I've never heard this song before, there's something about this song and video that's unplaceably familiar and nostalgic.
I love this group. Their music is unlike anything else I've heard.
animal collective most definitely still makes music! Merriweather Post Pavillion came out this January and I believe they've released another EP not too long ago

One of the most retro/indie bands I've ever seen! MIND BLOWING!!
animal collective sounds like life . better yet , it sounds like LIVING .
When this was uploaded, 240p was maximum quality
This is one of my favorite AC songs. Feels I think is one of their best albums.
best song of the 00's

Woah I've never seen this!
i ADORE this band and this song
It must be weird hearing this for the first time now instead of 4 years ago. Takes me back to magical times...
This song is magical in the face.
i think i will rather study greatness so i will be able to realize how great you are.
the feels this song (and feels in general) gives me is unbefeelable.
At last a band that does something different.
this song is sooo great! i love it!

favorite song by them
One of my favorites by them.
2:25 birds
... and despite this, I think its funny that this is the best quality version available on youtube.
It takes some time for your ear to grow to it... After I listened to it a few times I got into it.
i was walking on feet just like my fathers and my knees were trying to reach you at
your mothers cause my nose was screaming that you smelled like a lover but my hands
were happy to treat you like a brother then
we do the dance up on the plains
then i shake your shoulders
you push me down into the grains
who rubs our noses in the night? we do we do
pow pow now now pow pow now now
ive been into the plants and simple treasures
and i sew patches on pants and i get pleasure
and i dont make particular plans cause they dont matter
if you keep on foolin in bed with my sleeping patterns
we do the dance up on the plains
then i shake your shoulders
you push me down into the grains
who rubs our noses in the night? we do we do
Whats with all the changes since the time i was aware its like the apple eating people that we once were arent there
Did they empty out their pockets and debase their younger faces and you must make sure your happy when you leave your summer places
pretty little femur sitting in my cherry dream boat id be sad if your rejected from my hip bone and my knee if i sailed away from continents and touched my lovers hair then youd be very happy if i touched her there
Youd be very happy if i touched her there, i was very nervous how i felt in there i was very cautious whatd you say hey there
would you like to see me often though you dont need to see me often
cause id like to see you often though i dont need to see you often
we do the dance up on the plains
then i shake your shoulders
you push me down into the grains
who rubs our noses in the night? we do we do
They played played this the other night!!!
