I love the "newness" of Animal collective. I listen to music to get emotional kicks, and if I listen to old crap I get old feelings, which is linked to old memories. I think life is to short to dwell in the past.
Wow this makes me feel old, knowing it was new to you. Time Skiffs is new to me, but I still regard this song and the album as a masterpiece. I wonder if time skiffs will end up being like that.
Even if you don't like the way the sound, you have to acknowledge their originality and how completely innovative they are. There's just so much to their music. You especially start noticing how deep they are when you're high -- as you can with many other things.
It's amazing that the band's heavy, scratchy and abrasive guitars and all the shouting, mumbling and screeching that Avey Tare does all works within the context of one song.
you are absolutely correct. Animal collective is an experience that is in a realm way beyond music. It's an example of what great things the human mind can create. It is beyond the concept of music. Thank you for pointing out this very, very valid point.
i am not usually one to say "this is great when you are high" but when i watched this video high it blew my mind. this song is amazing high or not. and the video was very well done.
I don't know who your agreeing with, but couldn't have said it better myself. Animal Collective is beyond Music. It makes my head hurt to think how they created such ambient and powerful music.
I don't like all of AC's songs, but when they sing and sound like a normal band (like they kinda do on this song), they rock. Sometimes it can be fun/nice to listen to their more experimental songs, but to truly enjoy 'em I think you have to be as high as a tree. Just like they were when they made the songs x)
Pink Floyd doesn't do drugs while they're working on an album, but they do on tour and when they're not on a project. It isn't unreasonable to assume Animal Collective works similarly
@xtraordinarymachine0 fireworks, brothersport, my girls, grass,, winter wonderland, the purple bottle. i know some songs can be a little repetitive, but if you let yourself go, you will be transported to another world...
@JeffreeTheJar. I found the song on Myspace. Type in "For Reverend Green" in the Myspace music search bar. It'll be the first and only profile that comes up. Sometimes, when you're looking up music. You gotta type in the name of the song. :) I just might add this song to my profile as well? Have a nice day.
If you don't like it, that's fine. But just because something hasn't been on the radio doesn't mean it's bad, and being on the radio doesn't make you better and it doesn't mean you're good.
This song is definitely one of my all time favorites, top 25 even, but after listening to their discography a couple times I can earnestly tell you they have a lot of misses. See Grizzly Bear. Bands I would consider rarely missing of recent are Radiohead (post The Bends), The National, and Arcade Fire. But what do I know, I'm some faceless jagoff on youtube. (Frowny face)

I agree. Hope you're doing well malin.
This comment aged like fine wine.

One of my all time favorite songs from one of my all time favorite bands. Words just can't adequately describe.
The song that got me into Animal Collective was "Did you see the words" and I still think it's one of the best songs I ever heard.

The snowball fight playing in slo-mo before the song kicks off, so appropriate.
This song truly embodies what it feels like to go into insanity and to lose yourself completely. So powerful I love it!
I don't know who your agreeing with, but couldn't have said it better myself. Animal Collective is beyond Music. It makes my head hurt to think how they created such ambient and powerful music.

Supposedly that video clip at around 4:30 with the waiter and the men is one of the very first videos with incorporated acting.
Love this.
Love this song

Pink Floyd doesn't do drugs while they're working on an album, but they do on tour and when they're not on a project. It isn't unreasonable to assume Animal Collective works similarly

absolutely love this band. Where is it from? never heard it before. Hipnoticly brilliant.
I lost my inspiration halfway through. I'm actually only pleased with two sequences in this video. The beginning and the dancing angel.
Greaaat song!
And I love the video too
If you don't like it, that's fine. But just because something hasn't been on the radio doesn't mean it's bad, and being on the radio doesn't make you better and it doesn't mean you're good.
who is the first dancer? are the later ones Loie Fuller? Beautiful, incidentally, thank you. physical, instrumental and vocal expressions of joy!
Tool is the best! :]
The lead singer for Animal Collective is Dave Portner, who goes by the name Avey Tare.
From one moment to a next
Reading in the papers to know what's best
This song is definitely one of my all time favorites, top 25 even, but after listening to their discography a couple times I can earnestly tell you they have a lot of misses. See Grizzly Bear. Maybe it's the earth, maybe it's the heat
A baby on the bus smiled at me so easy
Now I think it's all right we're together
Now I think that's a riot
Now I think it's the best you've ever played it
Now I think that's a riot
Now I think it's all right to feel inhuman

Now I think it's all right, we'll sing together
Now I think that's a riot
Would I be able to find either LSD or ecstasy at an Animal Collective concert?
