MY MAN. I fixed mine using your original guide but this one is leagues clearer. I was able to squirt some WD40 Specialist Dry Lube into mine and it’s smooth as butter.
Just picked up a a k1000 at a garage sale, works great except the battery cover is stuck Any idea where I can find a new bottom plate? eBay prices are nuts!
@@roscat_ I used Alex's tip on one of mine and it works! Acetic acid in vinegar eats aluminum oxide, so the chemistry does its magic here and all it took were a couple drops into the outer perimeter of the battery cover from a q-tip and let it sit for a few hours. I did take the plate off and rinsed it afterwards, because I did not want any acidic fumes inside the camera - vinegar = bad news for copper wire bushings, solder tin and rubber gaskets

I have this slow returning mirror issue on my Pentax ME Super, I need to open it up and take a look at that rubber grommet and linkage...😊
I have a Pen F that seem to have a similar issue. Not confident enough to open it...
My mate threw away his ME Super (that he’d had since new in 1983) he assumed it couldn’t be serviced / repaired.
How and where do you source tension wires and springs?

Try hitting it/ soaking it in some distilled white vinegar. You may be able to salvage what you got!
@@RompingBronco thanks! I’ll give it a shot!
