I love how Gifford always set the stage at the beginning of all MNF games..'its a warm Texas evening ....' all his openings were great..he set the scene like no other
This is how it all started for me-I remember the AMEX commercial with Tom Landry being surrounded by Redskins in a saloon😅Obsessed with the star and Americas Team !
Meredith is easily one of the five greatest color commentators of all time. His quick-wittedness combined with his affable Southern charm made him a true pleasure to listen to while watching the game.
I was 12 years old in 1985. I was not allowed to stay up late enough to watch MNF, but I was allowed to use our new VCR to tape the games. I would wake up at 4am, and watch the game before I would go to school. In the pre-internet days, there was no way to find out what happened in the game other than to watch it. I could have fast forwarded I suppose, but I always chose to watch as if it was airing live at 4am. Later that season I, of course, taped the game where Theismann's leg was broken by Lawrence Taylor. When word spread through our school that I had a tape of the game I became a bit of a celebrity. Everyone wanted to come over to my house to watch it happen. There was no other way at that time to see it.
These were the ONLY games I was allowed to stay up for.. as a Cowboys fan in the DC burbs, it was either gonna be a quiet day or Hell the day after. I relished the silence after this one!! Was 12 at the time as well, and I miss the rivalry.
I was only 13 when the game was played. Loved how the crowd booed Joe Theismann every time he entered the game and then sang “Happy Birthday” to him after his epic 5 interception performance
1:20:39 - That was a reckless throw by Danny White -- a pass which he probably thought was going to be intercepted. Instead Mike Renfro made an *outstanding* sideline catch that turned a bad throw into a completion. White knew this, which is why he pointed right at Renfro after the play as if to say: "Thanks, dude, you saved my ass on that one." Renfro played brilliantly in this game.
YT has blocked the game, but I do have the game on my Patreon channel. Here's the link to the game there: www.patreon.com/posts/dallas-cowboys-1-74521457
2:34:16 -- Joe Theismann, on a night in which he and his son celebrated thier 36th and 14th birthdays respectively, getting trolled by both the Cowboy fans, as well as the pep band, after throwing five interceptions. Several months later, in a November Monday Night Football game against the Giants, Joe would suffer a broken leg after being sacked by Lawrence Taylor. The injury ultimately turned out to end his career.
Victor Scott, #22. Will Emmitt be the last player to wear #22 for the Cowboys... The Cowboys don't typically retire numbers, and #88 is still in circulation for them. So, you wonder whether they will unofficially retire #22.
Thank you!! One of my all-time favorite Cowboys v Redskins games..

Thank you so much for posting this!! Down to just the two '81 matchups and ill have every Redskins/Cowboys game from the 80s
This is how it all started for me-I remember the AMEX commercial with Tom Landry being surrounded by Redskins in a saloon😅Obsessed with the star and Americas Team !
This was also the first MNF game of the post-Don Meredith era
Yes. Was never quite the same without Dandy Don.
OJ was killing it that game.

I agree. Killer performance @@redmustangredmustang
Nice trivia right there. Thanks

Me too. As a Giants fan I was rooting for a tie.
John Riggins had the best TD celebrations ever.
Him and Barry Sanders
Toss the ball to the Ref. Loved it
For youtube this is A+ ma man!
If anyone can download it, I would love to see the 1992 game in Washington.
Just do a RUclips search
Hey Ryan Bush do you happen to have 1998 Cowboys Vs Oilers? Classic Cowboys Win
This is a random one but do you happen to have 2004 Cowboys Vs Raiders (preseason)? Might be a long shot but please let me know! Thanks!
Dallas didn't play Houston in 1998. Not sure which game you might be referring to.
I don't have the 2004 Raiders preseason game.
@@RyansCowboysCornerwhat about 1994 Cowboys Vs 49ers (regular season)

The time the Redskins vs Cowboys rivalry was relevant.
when sports was real.
Right art Monk Gary Clark lol

One of the more iconic victories growing up because of what Thurman’s Thieves did to Theismann on his birthday. Complete destruction of their rival!
I remember watching this game live. Great night for the Cowboys!
Just wondering if you have 1981 opening Day matchup vs Dallas.

Theismann was so bad in this game that he got benched after all those interceptions.

On Theismann's 36th birthday as well as his son's 14th birthday.
Theismans streak will be coming to an end soon.
The game that made it clear that Theismann was too old to play.
It was Joe Thiesmanns birthday with interceptions and a loss to Cowboys
Here @ 2:08. I would replace Joe with his back-up!
Punter and Quarterback Danny White
Back when they knew how to play lol they were good back in the 80s and 90s and 70s
49:20 - That was a fumble all the way. Bad non-call by the official.
Namath just fid not cut it as announcer.
I agree
OJ cut it well. 😂
OJ was great in broadcasting before
Well you know
I was 1 😂
