I believe Viggo speaks 5-6 languages fluently. I’ve seen one of his movies where all of it is in the Spanish language. His accent is just about perfect.
He already knew those languages, and he is able to act an appear on movies on each one. He has played quite some movies in Spain, both with Argentinian and Spanish accent, and I think he also played some Danish ones.

As a black person, I fully endorse this message. There is no need to caricature the original character for useless virtue signalling. There is no value in reimagining Shaka the Zulu as a blond blue eyed character, neither in re-making Mozart into an American Indian. This is misinformation at best, and theft of the ideas of the original content character. Walt Disney and Ian Fleming must be turning in their graves based on concepts rolled out, or even just whispered/discussed

Michelle Rodriguez is a 'minority' and a woman, yet she made her way in Hollywood decades ago. And she made it by being herself and chasing roles that would showcase what she can do. She's done a bit of everything from comedy to action. She's play the 'tough' girl and the sexy girl and the tough sexy girl. And she has enough range to express dramatic scenes on the screen. She's been very successful. So she knows what she's talking about. As a minority myself I've always been super offended by minorities in white roles. It is like someone spitting in my face. The studio/director/writers/producers/investors are all saying, "We don't trust your particular characteristics enough to make an investment in YOU. If you want to be our 'diversity quota' actor you'll have to piggy back on an established IP. You want to be the brown woman Superman, huh? Is that what you want? Brown woman superman, huh? That's pretty good right?" No. It's an insult.
Michelle Rodriguez is so awesome, I love her. I'm always fixed on her acting cause she's captivating and has a wide range of roles she can do. Glad she gets where we're coming from.
It's funny because there are more Hispanics than there are Whites, yet "on paper" any baby coming out of a woman is "legally" whatever race the woman is - that's sheer insanity. Nevermind the genes, lol. Oh, sorta digressing, that's in response to Ms. Rodriguez being a "minoirity".
Yes people don't get that it is not about race, color or whatever, but about keeping the characters as they were originally, as that is the way people remember them and recognize them. You get emotionally attached to a character and want to see it as it has always been.
This. This is the thing. I really dislike when they change characters from the original, some even change personality just to align with political stuff. It's just full blown cash grab and attention seeking method gone wrong.
I hear you and completely agree on this principle. On the other hand, it is nice to hear kids get ecstatic to see a lead character in their own skin color or race. However this is not the way to do it.

No, but also yes. It works to get gullible woke people to go to spite the non-existent -ists who hate something. There will be nowhere near as many of these people as there are of fans who actually wanted to see a good adaptation, of course, but the fans were lost as soon as you screwed up your movie/show by hiring incompetent writers/showrunners/directors/casting agents. More importantly, it generates "buzz" on social media. The more people talk about something, the more "demand" a company called Parrot Analytics says there is for it. It doesn't matter if the activity is good or bad, it's all "demand" to Parrot. And Hollywood pays at least as much attention to Parrot as to Nielsen nowadays. If Parrot says a show was "successful" due to "demand," the studio can point to those numbers when reporting to their investors and hope no one notices that it lost money. Disney has been doing this for years and the investors finally figured it out and are suing the company.

The same type of culture that pushed for accuracy, then representation cannot now attack Egyptians for feeling like they have been ignored and blackwashed. And yes, I'm black.
The Egyptians even made a documentary to state the obvious, she was not even of Egyptian descent but Greek 😅 but apparently blackwashing Cleopatra wasn’t enough, her entire family was black! Every Egyptian was black! 😅
Its never been about any of those things. Blacks are actually overrepresented in entertainment, but they have to pretend like they're still downtrodden. If you split hairs on exactly what role they play you could argue that they're underrepresented as leads and possibly in awards, but those are on the people at the top. The same ones who are lecturing the 'audience' that they need to do better. Asians, Hispanics and Middle Eastern/Indians are underrepresented. There are hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands of stories that can be told that prominently feature Africans, African-Americans, African folklore, fantasy blacks, whatever. But they don't want to do any of that. It's obvious the only value to them is if they can steal something from white people. It's an attack on whites, not a defense or celebration of blacks. It reinforces stereotypes that blacks can only loot, steal and lie and cannot create anything of value themselves. It also engenders racial resentment on both sides and only sparks divisive, hateful conversations, again on both sides. And that's the worst scenario you can get and a prelude to racial violence.
Thank you for finally shedding light on the natural born gingers being silence in modern popular culture entirely. They deserve representation the most.

Viggo Mortensen is the one and only Aragorn. In fact, the Peter Jackson movie's casting was all top notch. All the characters were as accurate as possible. And it was made in the only time period they could have been made the way they were. Everyone wasn't offended by everything and the CGI were almost photo realistic and the practical effects and make-up was also as good as they could. They were awesome movies. They are real classics.

Definitely part of it, but you also failed to notice the wanton iconoclasm of pop culture. These bastards are literally paying studios to destroy what we love.
I'm an aspiring writer, and one of the things I made sure to do in my upcoming novel is specify the look of each character. If someone has pale skin or dark skin, certain colored hair or eyes etc, I made sure it was obvious how each character looked. Why? Because a person's appearance and immutable characteristics can greatly alter their outlook on life, their daily experiences, and even how others perceive them. I find it ironic that the same people who say "you can't possibly know how being xy and z race in America feels, you don't look like us" are also the same people who say that race and appearance changes are no big deal.
Does anyone else get the bad feeling that we're gonna get an announcement of a LotR trilogy remake that includes all of the diverse talking points these people have been pushing up till now?
Yep, and there will be no shortage of fools to say things like "I don't want to judge it before it's released" or "I'll give it a chance" or "the race swapping isn't the problem, the problem is x,y, and z."
This is what I really hated about the movie. I would have loved to see live action Ariel with beautiful red hair. It was okay but was way too long. You want my opinion on therapy. Go to the gym, start eating healthy, get a life plan going, hang around positive people and take up a few hobbies. Most people are unhappy because they choose unhealthy lifestyles. Harden up and get your shit together
Therapy is great, it is just disturbing how people seem to need therapy for really minor things now. Like, you _should_ be able to deal with play-fighting normally and not get traumatised by it. I wonder, is it that they are just whiny and don't actually need anything because they could deal just fine? In that case my answer would be: Then deal with it and stop whining. Or can they literally not deal with normal, everyday things in the world? Then the question is: What the hell went wrong in order to now have people who are _this fragile?_
The greatest result for these studios funding these ridiculous projects is for no one to watch them which basically is equivalent to them setting a mountain of money on fire. Well done and burn baby burn! 👏

the thing is, these race swapping directors and actors want instant success and gratification but that's not how any of the source material started. The white superheroes we know today, superman, spiderman etc were not instant successes. they literally took decades and decades of character building to become the massively popular character we see today. If you want black character to be successful, do the work, create them, build them up, it might take time, it might take half a century to become mainstream like comics are now today. But the biggest issues is they dont want to do the work and build them over time, they want instant success. "Thats not how it works, thats not how any of this works!!"
That's exactly part of the reason I now despise characters like Miles Morales or Kamala Khan. I liked them when they were first introduced because, "oh, hey, that's different. And it took guts to actually kill off Peter Parker in the Ultimate comics, since they're big on "no coming back from the dead". But once Marvel began pushing them (e.g. bringing Miles to the main 616 universe and implying he'd be the new Spider-Man despite 616 Peter still being around), I started to dislike and then hate them. I haven't even watched the Spider-Verse movies because I just dislike Miles so much now. Likewise I never gave Ironheart or America Chavez a chance from the start, since Marvel was likewise pushing them. I can remember when Iron Man's popularity had dropped enough he was considered a B-List or even C-List character (and this is despite stuff like the 90s cartoon)... but he's still a character whose popularity endured since the 1960s. His comic was reaching 500 issue milestones and the like, even when he was at his least popular (hello, Teen Tony!) Meanwhile, the characters Marvel tries to push nowadays like Miles, Ironheart and Kamala can't even sustain a 50 issue run. Like, I remember when Marvel and DC would introduce new characters, hoping they'd be a hit, but when it was clear they weren't they'd fall into the background. Maybe some of them would come back in a big way once a writer found a groove with them, sometimes not. And it's not like that doesn't still happen. In the IDW Transformers comic Drift was introduced as the hot new character, a super _kewl_ samurai former Decepticon who's just oh, so badass... and people just weren't into him. But later on in the More Than Meets The Eye and Lost Light comics, he was reimagined as having found religion and became a lot more popular. The current crop of writers, directors and actors just don't have that kind of self-reflection.
You have so many things wrong. It's scary that there are even idiots who think you have a good point. Superman, Spider-man and Batman were instant successes. It didn't take decades for them to be popular. All three characters started in anthology comics but got their own comic book within a year of their introduction. Superman got a movie within a decade. Batman within five years. Spider-man had his own cartoon four years after his introduction in Amazing Fantasy #15. There is not one comic book character that needed 50 years of buildup to become mainstream.
@@geelwashandje131 The Chinese knew who Superman was within a year of his introduction? Wow, that's cool. By that metric these new characters are already instant famous and super popular, they get movies and shows within a few years of their starts too!
@@geelwashandje131 lets unpack some of your comments here. Superman was really the first to hit the mainstream in the 70s with the Christopher Reeves movies, a full 4 decades after he was created, (1938). Batman was created in the 30s too but it wasnt until the 60s with Adam West and later in 1989 with the Tim Burton movies that he took off in the public eye. Marvel went bankrupt in the 90s and had to sell off the rights to most of their IPs. they barely survived. That is the reason the MCU was so fractured in the beginning, Marvel didnt own a lot of their characters anymore. Actual comic books were on the fringe in the 70s and 80s for nerds, they werent popular. I mean they were popular enough to those that followed it but the "masses" didnt and still dont read comic books, comic publishers survived but didnt thrive., not yet. Marvel didnt become the billion dollar company it has become from selling paper, they did it by eventually becoming the mainstream and pushing out 100M+ films. I remember as a kid being labeled a dork for liking comics, but now its everywhere and everyone knows them, (even the girls and the grandparents!) When I say mainstream, what I mean is that the vast majority, I would say 90%, of ppl only consume the movies and video games, they dont read the source comics. Their rise really started in the 2000s, so yes, it took a long time for these characters to get here, it took decades and decades. So, when identify politics is just injected in its off-putting to most because it feels forced, it wasnt earned.

For real, this whole enabling narcissism in minorities thing feels like a trap from some ancient and secret WASP cult from the 1800s.

Almost like they're lying. It's important enough to bastardize a character to change, it's obviously important.
There will be blood

fuck therapy its a scam that just makes people worse.
Then the question is: What the hell went wrong in order to now have people who are _this fragile?_

the thing is, these race swapping directors and actors want instant success and gratification but that's not how any of the source material started.
Good point
I remember as a kid being labeled a dork for liking comics, but now its everywhere and everyone knows them, (even the girls and the grandparents!)
When I say mainstream, what I mean is that the vast majority, I would say 90%, of ppl only consume the movies and video games, they dont read the source comics. Their rise really started in the 2000s, so yes, it took a long time for these characters to get here, it took decades and decades. So, when identify politics is just injected in its off-putting to most because it feels forced, it wasnt earned.
Imagine the hollywood-logic in school...
Teacher: "Jimmy, your homework was an essay about your daily live in your family... why are your parents suddenly japanese and black? I met them at the last parents-teacher-conference, both of them are white"

@@Peacekeepa317 Ok, I by no means profess to have an indepth knowledge after skimming a few articles before work but it seems to be speculated/claim that Mami Wata spirit's iconography as diety changed to that of a mermaid after encounters with european "settlers" in 18th century.
Not that this is indistupitably right on my part as I said as I have just given a surface read to the idea you're floating here and I know that ancient greece had a bit of tendency to co-opt other cultures mythology into their own in the same way That alot of Roman mythology is a mirror to Greek mythology of the time also so claiming the origin of any given figure within a pantheon of a different culture or nation can be widely disputed by historians especially in the face of new findings. I will definetely need to go down this rabbit hole more comprehensively in the near to immediate future as well as "mmuo miri" and the Igbo people as history (especially that pertaning to mythology and religion) really facinates me.

@@MinimalistTheatre333 kinda agreed a gods form holds little weight as they can choose as they please. However race swapping is still just insulting.
