I don't know that the "I didn't like it and then I listened a million times" people don't like it per se, but I don't think they super enjoy it. I mean, at least for me, whenever I listen to a song that's different and not what I'm normally into, my first thought isn't normally "I don't like this" its more of a "this is definitely different, I owe this another listen." Now one thing that I'll say, is I don't think A7X should have just given the fans exactly what they were expecting, because the fans are expecting more of the same, and I think that's just artistic stagnation. I think everyone is free to like or dislike whatever for pretty much whatever reason, but part of that, I don't think there's any objectivity in music or any art. I have people who I think are talented and I see why people like them, but they aren't really for me, like the Beetles, I don't really like the Beetles all that much, but I do get why a lot of people really like them. Another point in comparing this song to previous songs, one of the fundamental truths of music, is that repetition legitimizes, repetition legitimizes, repetition legitimizes, repeti... We have gleaned every bit of meaning we can after 100 plays of Afterlife, or Nightmare, or The Stage. 1 listen of this song is not the same experience or a similar level of understanding.
I saw them live on area15 and man they put on a shown and this song sounds amazing live. And the album it’s really good I can’t wait to hear it again But I respect your opinions man wish I could watch you stream I’m stuck at work when you do it
My experience with these two singles they dropped is that I didn’t necessarily enjoy nobody. But when this song dropped, I listen to it twice just trying to figure it out. Had no opinion of it just was purely trying to figure out what the fuck is going on then on the third listen, I was like this shits gas. It gives off an energy that no other song in my catalog gives off
I love the experimentation and I go in listening to the creativity in any song. This is like Led Zep influence and it’s musically fantastic because that’s actually the direction ever since the first time I heard them. They always talked about that, especially when they did the self titled album.
People are perceiving the song in a weird way because they are expecting the same song template you would get from any average metal/rock song. You can generally guess when the chorus will come in or guess when the guitar riff will come in. But they specifically made the album in a un traditional fashion. They are keeping the listener on their toes such as in Nobody ending the song on a guitar solo. It's also very odd to say that someone doesn't like something because they gave it multiple listens before forming an opinion. Having to go back to a song multiple times to really get a feel for it is exactly what music should do when we listen. I love what they are doing with the new Album. Avenged is literally known for never making the same music. These guys have been giving us non stop hits for almost 3 decades, they don't have to give us WTF 2 or COE 2 we know they can make those style albums. Glad we are getting fresh music from one of the greatest bands ever.
I like when he says something halfway critical of the band someone hits him with "you don't understand the art of music". I actually like the experimentality of this track but come on :D
I personally really like the experimentation of this song and the chorus had become somewhat of a personal earworm. I’m a huge bungle fan so I think I’m more the audience for this since this album seems like its going to be more about building an atmosphere with electronic instruments rather than being a shred album like coe or a pop chart churning beast like nightmare or httk.
Good reaction! Really interesting to hear your opinion but I personally don't think you can tell people what they like or not. Maybe some people lie that they like a song because they want to feel like a "real fan" or whatever, but if someone needs to listen to a song 1000 times to like it, I think their opinion still matters.
Exactly, weird to try and say how people feel about liking a song just because they listened to it multiple times before forming their opinion. If anything it's a much more grounded opinion because that person took the time to really take in the music.
Ill admit, i sidnt like it at first, it was odd, felt like scrapped songs were put together. But once the album came out and i listened to it all at once, i liked it more. Now its my 3rd favorite on the album. Theres a couple on the album that i dont gravitate towards, but this one, nobody, and cosmic are my top 3 (not in the order). The album as a whole is fun and great to listen to (for me). Its different, while retaining some previous avenged sounds.
To be 100% honest, this song was so out of place for me on the first listen. The more I listen to it the more I loved it. I get why people don’t like this song and I completely understand. To me I love this song
I agree with your takes, as for the part where you talked about Stockholm syndrome by repeating songs and ending up liking them, I can say that was how I felt about nobody. I enjoy the song now but I'm also not afraid to say it was one of their weaker ones for me, ultimately i think its an aquired taste, i never listened to the stage cause it was different, and have been listening to it recently and enjoyed the record! Looking forward to the full album though, hope we can get some more bangers
Love you reaction, lol, that was me when the single dropped. Took understanding the meaning of the song and watching the live show appreciate the song. I now think this song is cool.
ngl i had a big novel comment but fuck that, i aint being the loser who writes novels, glad you gave the song a chance i 100% agree with all you said, as a a7x fan that stockholm syndrome got my ass locked down XD.
IDK, I like the song but I like Mr. Bungle too. People can change on music first when I heard Annihilator Never, Neverland I didnt like it because the the vocals, there was something in the music and after a few times i got really into that album. Back then we dont have youtube or spotify or even internet to instantly change what are you want to listen. We got tapes and shit. So yea I think people can hear it differently after a few times or find something in it why they start to like it.
It sucks that insane avenged sevenfold fans have, in turn, created insane anti avenged sevenfold haters, and there's not a whole lot of room in between. So, unfortunately, there's an abundance of people who just won't give the band a chance purely because of a toxic fanbase. Some people aren't ready to accept anything but RIFFS in their metal music, and whether or not it's intriguing or something cool or different, it's immediately disregarded because of the stigma that's attached to avanged sevenfold. It's really a bummer because in a perfect world, I think everyone would dig this stuff without the aforementioned stigma associated with the band. Whether or not you mean to, you're feeding the hate side by calling it cringe and weird.
unique doesn't always mean good, but this is boundary pushing in a weird way. this isn't radio hit rewritten trash, this is an attempt at cool art. I think this is meant to be seen as an experience. I really just like the creativity. Wouldn't put it on a playlist.
I respect this view and reaction because its actually real and not fluffed lol Big fan of A7X and I actually dig this song and the new album. People need to not take shit so serious.... but anytime you want to join the cult hit me up
The first time i listen i thought it was bad too but genuinely the second time i listen to it i couldn't get enough of it i keep listening to it on Spotify , so do i genuinely like it or no ?
I appreciate your honestly and honestly could care less if you like it or not. I think you’re totally entitled to that. However having to listen to a song multiple times before it clicks doesn’t mean you don’t like it? When The Stage came out I was confused and listened to it a lot. Now I play that album front to back sometimes daily. Hesitation is fine and I think once you listen to the song enough to memorize the jarring tone switches, it’s perfect.
I don’t entirely agree with your most watched part assessment. If you go back to Nobody, the two most watched parts is the solo and the Choir. It’s the most watched because it is so different. Same thing with the metalcore part in this song
Listened twice because I had to digest. Thanks to bands not continuing the cycle of generic easy to predict shit. Avenged has always been experimental. If you haven’t been a fan, you probably won’t like it as far as new music from them goes. But the people who listen to a Avenged Sevenfold and hope and expect for something new are completely satisfied. When you wait for a new Avenged Sevenfold album and you listen to it for the first time, never expect it to sound like the last album and at least point out the musicality and the ability to make things that maybe you don’t like are being done in a cohesive, but not traditional manner.
I am absolutely on the same page with you about people saying they like songs after listening 100 times...however, after listening to Nobody about 5 times, I went from really disliking it to loving it. I've never really had that happen before. I think We Love You is weird, for sure. It's definitely not what I expected from A7X, but honestly, I'm cool with a genre shift. I don't want to hear the same thing over and over again. I personally really liked The Stage, and it seems like they're honing in on the more esoteric style choices from that album.
I kind of discord of you when you say that who are listen to this song a lot of times to like it is because they love the band bla bla bla. I mean probably some people are doing it but the thing is music is between a lot of stuffs reconize and understand standards and when we can not do that we have the feeling that it's weird. In my case I had to listen to this song a lot of times because it was the time that I needed to understand this standard because, I think we all agree this, this is not a normal song, it's difficult to understand what's going on even to the best musicians. But once you get there this song becomes insane of good. Of course even doing it people may not like it and that's ok but I recomend you to listen to this some more times with your mind open and trying to reconize the standard
@@heinzjurgen7763 well to me, it just means we're being driven by primal desires with no end until it destroys us.
The riffs have always been what kept me a fan I love syn been my inspiration as a guitarist since I was in middle school
I saw them live on area15 and man they put on a shown and this song sounds amazing live.
And the album it’s really good I can’t wait to hear it again
But I respect your opinions man wish I could watch you stream I’m stuck at work when you do it
My experience with these two singles they dropped is that I didn’t necessarily enjoy nobody.
I’ve heard this song a few times but this is my first time watching the video, and it makes a lot more sense
Its different, while retaining some previous avenged sounds.
us a7x fans are so starved for songs and not god damn NFTs that we go to anyone who aknowledges the band even exists
What's your deathbat look like? 🤣
To be 100% honest, this song was so out of place for me on the first listen. The more I listen to it the more I loved it. I get why people don’t like this song and I completely understand. To me I love this song
You just like to listen to the new stuff from everyone and play some badass geetar, love it !
"Mr Shadows just went through puberty" 🤣
This one clicked more instantly than nobody for some reason. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on it!
Ive said this before and Ill say it again: I wont draw any conclutions until the full album, i like this more than Nobody but its interesting...
as a sevenfold fan i love watching you talk shit about them
i personally love this song but i can see why its not everybody'' cup of tea
For whatever it's worth, this song works better live.
At 3:18 I was on the floor crying laughing 😂😂
While I didn’t personally enjoy it I know somewhere The Rev is smiling because this is totally his style.
I love BTBAM and other bands that take you on a wild ride in their songs, this song and Nobody definitely grew on me
Most accurate review I’ve heard 🤘🏼
Wasn't a fan of it honestly, it felt so weird.
ngl i had a big novel comment but fuck that, i aint being the loser who writes novels, glad you gave the song a chance i 100% agree with all you said, as a a7x fan that stockholm syndrome got my ass locked down XD.
your thought on this is very understandable and should be more said, me personally i really like the song and i completely respect anyone hating it.
Hesitation is fine and I think once you listen to the song enough to memorize the jarring tone switches, it’s perfect.
the floating stuff represents old technology and society being cast out
I don’t entirely agree with your most watched part assessment.
As an A7X fan, the first time I heard this song I thought it wasn’t very good, but after listening to it a few times I still don’t think it’s good
I am absolutely on the same page with you about people saying they like songs after listening 100 times...however, after listening to Nobody about 5 times, I went from really disliking it to loving it.
I'm a huge prog nerd and I don't know what's going on. I like when bands experiment with new ideas, but some experiments are meant to stay in the lab.
i enjoy a7x, mostly older stuff and a few pre the stage things in between, and its nice to hear the opinion from someone whos not really a fan
Chainbrain gonna play this song in the bedroom during fun time I’m calling it
I kind of discord of you when you say that who are listen to this song a lot of times to like it is because they love the band bla bla bla.
I feel like the message being portrayed is more important than anyone's entertainment; which I appreciate.
did anyone even understood the message?
@@heinzjurgen7763 well to me, it just means we're being driven by primal desires with no end until it destroys us. The problem is that it just keeps repeating as if we haven't learned what this life is really all about and that our desire to accumulate more of everything ultimately leads us to a place where we lose it all regardless.

@@Chainbrain w brand. Thank you
I can't stop thinking Jared Dines doing weird fsces with the verse riff
I feel like I’m the only person that loved this on first listen, I guess I must like weird music.
Always fun to watch ppl react to this song, in my opinion this shouldn't be looked at like a song more like am art piece but thats me
This song is the perfect definition of never know them your next move
If you didn't like nobody, just listen to it again. It grows
Should review Nightmare or Waking the Fallen, favorite A7X album ever!
So A7x is my favorite band. And I love this song and Nobody. But I think it makes a lot of sense if you don't like it lol. But my ADHD brain loves the randomness too it lmao. And i hope for more Shadows screaming on this album bc that was the best part. Keep up the great vids Chain ❤
Same here. My ADHD brain feels really represented by this song. Love the sudden transitions
Its not what i was hoping they would put out but im having s good time with it
I found the "more" and "build" parts a little grating mainly because I didn't know what it meant. It's not super clear what it means but through the throes of trying to understand what it means it made me put aside my expectations of what it's supposed to be walking into an A7X song. It almost has this schizophrenic storytelling that seems more cohesive.
It’s not something I can listen to over and over again, but I think it’s a really cool experience
i told myself it sucks. then after about 10 listens i started to like it. but i genuinely like it. not because im forcing myself to like it. its an out there kind of song.
Same, idk what it is it really grew on me for some reason even though it was garbage the first few listens
I found you through doing Sabaton stuff. So you are sabaton man too :P
Mr bungle plus the stage, great for me
11:25 this dude is actually telling you that you need to be in a cult to like new avenged music.
Not quite - I'm saying a lot of fans buy in heavily to the band through all the things (crypto, nfts, etc) and people who do this would have a hard time admitting they don't like a song from a band they love
@@Chainbrain also you’ve really never had a song grow on you after a couple listens?
@@patrickl671 the man has stated multiple times that he was never a fan of the band growing up compared to bfmv and that playing their songs has just become a running thing on his channel. so no i dont think he's going to sit there and listen to a song he doesnt think is good by a band he doesnt pay much attention to
@@grandladybug the fuck does any of that matter?
He is saying the only possible way for anyone to enjoy this music is they “Stockholm” themselves into liking it.
I get not liking it, it’s really weird. The effects on the vocals at the start are weird and the more more build build verse are definitely a little cringe.
But there is a lot of good here too. The rhythm section is killer all around. The chorus being spacey at first and then full the second time and then with a variation the third time is some really cool songwriting.
@@patrickl671 you completely missed what i said. he's not going to sit and listen to a song over and over for it to grow on him if he doesnt like the song or band much. even if it was thrashy like their old stuff it doesnt matter. he was never big into the band
This song is so awesome very unique
him saying that he hates pinkly smooth makse sense for him not liking this (and synyster gates was the guitarist for pink;y smooth so thats why they sound similar)
New Avenged Sevenfold is ... MYSTERY 😂
I don’t really like the “build higher, build stronger” part but I really do enjoy the rest of the song and it’s something that grows on you the more you listen
Fair. This is gonna divide a lot of folk and that's fair cause they're doing a fair bit of experimentation with sounds and production and everything. They're not my favourite songs but I've enjoyed the fact the band as gotten a bit more creative on this album and The Stage.
I was one of the folk who, despite enjoying Nightmare a fair bit felt like the band's creativity waned a little then and with Hail to the King - they had different goals with those albums and that's fair. I was introduced with City of Evil and really appreciated the technical and creative aspects of that album so that's what I enjoy with the band personally.
I thought the song was alright, will I constantly listen to it like waking the fallen or city of evil? no. I will not. But its aight
i disagree with about 90% of what u said but each to their own and i still love ya
Im going to need edibles for this album drop
Chain is so casual on his opinions
What does this mean
@@Chainbrain i would guess that you don't embellish for the sake of drama but I'm not sure xD
Some songs require a few listens to discover their groove. Not every song has to be a simple verse/chorus/verse/chorus/breakdown/chorus arrangement.
7:03 Fuck i just realised that this is Half Life 2 beta section with the boat, even fucking swamp looks from source engine. Sue them Gaben.
I disagree, Nobody did actually grow on me, I really like his singing in that song. As for this song, I do not like the verse (MOAR part) but I like the chorus and of the thrash part of course, would be more happy if the whole song was like that but it's not my band.
buddy this song is a song that needs to be listen too a few times to fully appreciate it
It's a reaction video. Not a "I listen to the song until I say I like it" video. To be honest that video would never end.
@@Chainbrain i get that, but i'm just saying its a song you need to listen to a few times in order to appreciate it better, no need to get all warped up about it lol
I feel like you saying that there was a drummer in the band before The Rev is more of an insult to the A7X fans than saying that this song is bad.
I feel like this could be a sick 3 minute thrasher but uhh more ya know
