Many listens later it just hits. Then you will go OMG. I was thinking nope but didn't give up. Now it's in the running with NOBODY. Trust me I'm a big fan.
Been a fan of Avenged Sevenfold for a while and I like how they are hitting in new ways. On top of that the msg that they are sending sometimes I think people dont get what they are trying to say and how deep Shadows words are.
I really like this it's controlled chaos. I full support this. You should watch it again because it's a vr experience you can spin the camera to see different things.
I went back and although I don't have a VR, it was still super cool to move the video around and see what else was going on. Definitely adds to the experience! - Jacob
It's more more more until everything crashes down and in the end it's back to basics, no more synth and electronics, just acoustic strings and humming and dealing with the fallout.
This song has a pretty powerful message about progress for progress's sake. And much like Nobody, I'm having a hard time separating the song form the video because I feel the video really helps to clarify the intent of the song. It hasn't escaped me that they chose specifically to put this song in VR and then towards the end just before or perhaps just after the collapse of society the viewer seems to be living in a virtual world that itself eventually falls apart. There's a LOT of intent behind even minor decisions in this song's composition, but I definitely think it's a lamentation of the almost mechanized runaway forward march of "progress" and technology. Very very interesting piece of art right here. Also the song kinda slaps ngl and I see myself jamming to it in the car in the very near future.
"After the collapse of society the viewer seems to be living in a virtual world that itself eventually falls apart" That is a very interesting take and that didn't even cross my mind but I think I agree with you. Good catch! Thanks for watching! - Jacob
honest reaction, and your so right about the end of the day. after a few more listens i now hear it as how Evenged Sevenfold wants me to hear the song.
Yeah these songs are complex and you can grow to like them the more you listen to them. That's how you know a band took the time to write excellent music. Great reaction I enjoyed it very much. \,,/
I think most people just need to listen to them more and adjust. They write off the new music because it isn't what they expected or want from Avenged Sevenfold. Same with Linkin Park when they strayed away from more Nu Metal to electronic rock, or Muse heading away from Rock to a more experimental electronic 80's/neon style. Just gotta give it a few listens and be unbias before you can decide if you like it or not.
For one I never liked or actually listened much A7X but I really love this song because it's very different from everything we usually get from bands nowadays (i can safely say that I became a fan because of this song and i only listened this once and instantly fell in love with) I've only commented What in the Mr Bungle fuck is going on? on other react videos because i think that sums up this song perfectly
Yep, members of the band are huge Mr Bungle fans, and it shows in this song! I feel like the different sections of the song actually feel like vicarious Mr Bungle albums in part.
I did shrooms the other day listening to this song. And I'm telling you guys, this song hit different. I love it, cant wait to trip with the whooe album 🌌
That kleaver clothing shirt though. Love the direction avenged is going pushing the genres boundaries for sure. This song is totally a nod to Mr bungle, and a side project of syn/the revs “pinkly smooth” I think the causal fans reaction is actually want they’re pushing for. Metal as a genre is so accustomed to a formula and they want to break beyond that and do something that’s different, and challenges the listener.
"We" means the corporations. And they will tell you that you are one in a million and they love you, as long as you keep buying so they can continue their constant pursuit of more and what they believe is progress. At the end of the day, humans have consumed and consumed to the point that we have destroyed the planet - which is what the first part of the song is about. The end of the opening lines is out of tune and distorted for a reason. It depicts nature in distress and is abruptly replaced by the human ego and the corporate machine with "more" and "build". Then, in case the point wasn't obvious, during the screaming lyrics it talks about the push to scale for more, no mater how many lie dead in the path. Just keep doing until you've reached the top, until the end, until the mud. Then the softer part of the song reflects the aftermath of all the destruction - depicted by the swampy river, the junk piled along the banks polluting the water further, and abandoned high rise buildings when no one is left to live in them. It is very much a message about corporate greed and destruction of the planet.
Every band has that one kooky experimental album, and for avenged sevenfold this one is definitely it. Nobody was good I thought, but this song sucks ass in my opinion. Even after listening to it maybe five times over the last day or so, I just don't dig it. The video DOES add to the experience if you watch it rather than just an audio listen, but that in itself is a cop out that masks a not very good song imo. I dunno how we went from a thought provoking musical creation like the stage to this, but I'm happy to be proven wrong in the rest of the album! Also the audio mixing is god awful and I can't tell if that's intentional or not because it sounds like it was recorded in a garage with an iPhone.
i mean lets be honest, it's a failed experiment. the singing part in the "verse 1" sounds so boring because those notes will sounds better if only the guitar make that sound but no, he has to sing that unmasculine part. also the talking or rapping part, you dont need talent to make that. sad. this is the band that made "Little Piece of Heaven" and "Scream". it's just sad.
This song is absolute chaos and I’m all for, I love that these dudes are making some weird ass shit. I really respect them making super off the wall stuff like this especially because it has almost no commercial appeal but they clearly don’t care, they just wanna make what they wanna make and that’s cool. Can’t wait for the new album, nice reaction guys

so excited for the album to come in the mail
that ending so has "tonight the world dies" vibes
This was my first reaction. What the hell am I listening to? In such a great way!

"We did a lot of fucking drugs" - Syn, 2023.
This song gets better with each listen! I consider this an experience rather than a " song" new subscriber 🎉 keep up the work
Completely agree. Thank you so much 🙌🏼 - Jacob
Great reaction, had the same with this crazy song

Its also a reference to the stage when mshadows says “You know this is just a simulation don’t you” in we love you it was a literal simulation haha
This song is mr bungle in the style of a7x
This song live is even sick-ier

It seemsnot many ppl know about Pinkly Smooth. Man, the Rev would have been in the thick of this.
Love both of your reactions here ❤️ Album is out now, can you react to their new songs like Mattel or Cosmic? It would be great ❤️

Eh didn't like it at all. Too distorted.
