Song Lyrics:
I’m the world weekly news bat child, B-lining ash pile to ash pile to ash pile, for every ghost climbing out the flat-file, every gaffe, every lone spaz in the snack aisle, cracked out, don't touch that dial ever, these trap doors forecast quagmire weather, but it's worth it, from cobras out to kiss him on the cheek to snatching victory from out the jaws of imminent defeat, the phone ping from a pillow fort in a corn maze, I don't have a horse in your war games, I don't even really like horses, I like wild orchids and neighbors with wide orbits, electric fence, and pets that tend to pretty much ignore us, we head-butt in the mornings, then report to separate corners, criminy, you're killing me, Smalls, the fist balls up, I pull my hood down, I got some walls up.
Walls up, I keep my coat on I got some walls up, chips down walls up, I cut the lights off.
Everyday I wake up in a gallon of sweat, puke blood, hit the shower, turn to Malibu Ken, while you were asking all your lackeys “Are we jackals or men?” I been the sorcery authority should catch if they can, mostly a master of none, come try the coffee it's burned, he type a chapter, it sucks, top of the moth-eaten world, pick a one horse town, 4 horsemen got his number, I feed each one the others camouflaged in Fluffernutters, the million dollar freeze jazz speak in a secret garden, some people think it's freakish but they can't deny the harvest, it's funny when they're later made to celebrate the shit they said was garbage, it only show the city who the mark is, are we Donatello's David or delicate Frozen Charlottes? Even Davids know in art there often will be no catharsis, the voices in my head still talk tough, I go to bed stoned, I got some walls up.
In a lavish, rabbit hole with no rabbits, young, dumb dust-bunnies jump into traffic, casually gussied up and done feeling unsung and savage, punk, we have come for your cabbage, I’m bad news travel like a rat through your cabinets, spaz, 20 paw pads full of scabs, off in a false ad, fall plaid all dander, blast off, black jackdaws on his antlers, zero-faithers, warily fear his neighbors, someday we'll find a way to make these billionaires obey us, someday we'll earn a subdivision gaudier than “reprobates”, who sit around depressed and guess the order of the Tetris rain, with biblical misreckoning, son of surly Satan torn asunder, private number, public urination, we socialize with pundits who encompass all the wrong stuff, I count the bread quick, I got some walls up.

Tobacco's production is killer. Aesop's bars are insane. Probably best collab in 2018 into 2019

Damn are you okay? lmao
@@Sapsche man real talk that was such a strange crossover lol

Aesop Rock: I don't even like horses
A horse is a horse of course, but who rides it's important.
@@bsh819 nice
Never thought i'd see a no one joke on an aes channel. looks like the good word is spreading.
this beat is a masterpiece. crazy how it sounds so disturbing yet wonderful in it's art
Been rockin with Aes since 2000. He is the GOAT and it warms my heart to see some younger people in today’s hip hop scene realize the same.
I've been listening to him since 2015, he's my hero! I don't care if that's cheesy. I believe he is the best rapper out there.
This is going to be one of the top albums of the decade; no contest. From what we’ve been teased with so far, does anybody else get vibes that Aesop is kind of returning to his raw ‘Bazooka Tooth’-type persona? But not in a bad or lazy way; it feels more like he finally got the perfect production for this aspect of his music.
wow there's a group of people that deserve to be really fucking proud of making this
The voices in my head still talk tough: I go to bed stoned; I got some walls up. I needed this today in particular.
The video really appears to be fucked up. Like the cartoon is self-aware. It freaks me out at the end. It makes me feel sad.
I'm glad I'm not the only one unsettled by the video. It's freaky. Living in a world which doesn't make sense. And I imagine the battle with the stop-motion monsters gets played out the same way every single week forever.
It's like Aes woke up early for work to chill and watch some Saturday cartoons, but he end up feeling stuck on the same kind of daily grind as the character from Deathforce. The video followed The Deathforce as they battle their nemesis; Lord Gore. When the squirrel girl is in this grind, she briefly became self aware enough as a cartoon to see Aes as some hidden higher-being behind the TV. At the end she asks Aes to help her out of the daily rerun loop because she caught a glimpse of what Aes looks like in the 3rd dimension as compared to her 2 dimensional reality. One intriguing detail is the time frame of the video where it's shown that Aes watched Death Force for exactly one hour, as prescheduled in the TV guide. He deliberately got up early to watch Death Force: Aes stopped his alarm at 4am, was still in pajamas at the end, + Wet Cube-friend was ON the cover of the TV guide.
Aes, feeling as stuck as a character in a morning rerun of this 'old cartoon', looks at the character's plea for help knowing that he couldn't help even if he wanted to. Even in his 'godlike' three-dimensional form, Aes lacks the ability to alter the reality contained within the TV show. Even though they shared a timeslot in the daily grind, they were unable to help each-other out of it. Aesop was already doing everything he could to break his own daily cycle. It seems like it's a heavy theme with Aesop Rock where he feels like this Impossible mess of a Kid who puts on this shiny face to deal with the world around him, thus Malibu Ken. "Every day I wake up in a gallon of sweat, puke blood, hit the shower, turn to Malibu Ken." - @ 1:13 . At the end, a real girl comes in and abruptly changes the channel like most kids who know how a remote works.
This was an interesting concept in that Aes was just watching some cartoon rerun and seeing himself. When the squirrel girl saw him and asked for his help, he just blankly stared back as he was stuck in his own similar loop. Aes could empathize with the cartoon character's daily grind of repeatedly fighting the same beast, but he couldn't break his own cycle let alone the cartoons'. Then his real girl came in and reminded him that it's time to shower and get ready for work again, thus propagating the cycle and snapping Aes out of his Kirby-Os til he pours more tomorrow..
@@no-ri8fw my super-nerdy thesis about TIK is that it explores the nature of being outside people's understanding, which to Aes is what being "impossible" is. ("My first name is a random set of numbers and letters/and other alphanumerics that changes hourly forever", etc.) This video positions him as an apparently higher being outside the TV, and establishes some kind of contact between it and him - elaborating on that theme.
@@isabellamorris7902 the line from Shrunk is æsopian for anyone and everyone, one size fits all, universal spectrum, or entire gamut. Choose the analogy.
@@no-ri8fw fuck yes, use that brain. God damn I love it when I see someone who cares to break it down, that means you live this music, breath it, listen to it daily like medicine. Thats me. And the only way you do q break down in this much detail. Good....fucking....job. keep it up.
I like wild orchids and neighbors with wide orbits
That line made me smile ear to ear😂
@@amberstarr23 is this a reference to anything?
@@EPiCxRhymes I don't think it's a reference, but it could be. By "wide orbits" he's implying "at a great distance" or "far away (from him)".
@@sinnison23 I understood it as neighbors who are tweeking or high on life...that's jus my interpretation?!?
@@amberstarr23 it means neighbors who keep their distance and mind their own business.
Every day I wake up in a gallon of sweat
Puke blood hit the shower turn to Malibu Ken
I cant stop saying this line to myself when Im doing things
This beat is actually genius, its at production levels like 9 inch nails and marilyn manson, the sheer bizarre vibe it puts out and the ability to dump and grab new leads has me with a giant shit eating grin on my face. Well done.
that's so funny now that tobacco collaborated with trent reznor.
This album was low key fire AF, every single song on this album 10/10. Ace still on point.
When all life falls to its bleakest...Aesop Rock shows up in my notifications to try to help get me thru it. Thank you for your art, Aes. ✌
truer words have never been commented
This happened recently for me with the first single from Garbology.
Am I the only one who loves how off-beat Aesop starts off , It is like every song he has a fight with the beat and then wins and makes it something greater
He built some walls up
its kind of how grateful dead and a lot of psychedelic musicians make their music: if theres a rythmic spot already taken by something, anything new coming into the composition has to occupy a different space. filling the rhythmic gaps, instead of everything hitting the exact same beat over and over. not sure if i was able to deliver the meaning of what im trying to talk about, but hey, at least i tried
Over rated garbage. Aesop sounds the same in all his music for the last 109 years
To me it doesn’t sound off Beat it sounds like he was listening rapping to his song forgot part of it then jumped back on when he remembered
totally feel you and especially considering like... try nodding your head to this beat, let alone rapping on it. his pocket is unthinkably brilliant
I really like that this project is distinct from Aesop's solo stuff. Even his flow is different. Harsher, more raw maybe.
This is a lot slower at times I think
its different but its still reminiscent of his regular stuff too, it's fuckin dope
Sounds just like his last album and the stuff with Sandman.
@@amdi8966 Just listened to The Impossible Kid yesterday and that record and it's pretty fast paced. Haven't heard much of the stuff with Sandman
I don't think so. I just think TOBACCO's de-emphasis of heavy bass and simplistic acoustics brings out the lyrics more. If you pay close attention, the flow, content and pacing isn't all that different, if at all, from traditional Aesop.
This album is the literal only thing I've ever considered breaking my rule against pre orders for.
Do it.
Anybody else getting Bazooka Tooth vibes off of TOBACCO’s production for this project?
Aesop and T are killing it with these singles / visuals
YES! I actually love the whole vibe of Bazooka Tooth even though its a lot of peoples least favorite aes album (I think even Aesop himself says he doesn't really like it lol) but I love the whole raw kinda dirty electronicy sound it has and TABACCO's beats do definitely remind me of it.
@@0oidiedinatimemachineo024 I feel like it represents aesop the most. Maybe nowadays he doesn't want to bring up the past but even the style from it has lingered. It's difficult I'm sure conceptually to make it a sequel but I'd like to hear it.
@@0oidiedinatimemachineo024 Honestly i'm all about that album! So grimy and aggressive. Glad some other aes fans are into it too!!
Not at all, Tobacco's production sounds like hes sampling 70s sci-fi cartoons or NES games. Bazooka Tooth had NONE of that.
Can’t wait for the album to come out!!
Yep.
word up
Whens it out?
Somewhere in 2019
giddy for this shit, roll on jan 18
first few seconds of the beat already hooked me. definitely don't have doubts about this album
You should have. It all sounds the same
Used to write, hard to admit that I used to write..
But who could feel like they accomplished any writing that's worthwhile after listening to aes.
Damn, modular synthesis and Aesop is a match made in heaven.
You know when you hear a song and play it over and over and over and over? I. cannot. get. enough. of. this.
Killer track. Can't wait for the whole album
Living proof that not all of the greatest die before they're 30
This album is so dense and dope. The lyrics are a logical conclusion of hiphop, almost no analog in the spectrum of song writing. And tobacco's acid pool synths are growingly compelling with each listen.
I relate to the cartoon.
Aesop keeps getting better-beein listening to him for like 15 years...he’s always getting better. Crazy.
Malibu Ken finna be legendary
I've always loved TOBACCO but damn do these two fit together
It's amazing that Aes sounds so similar and yet so different over these beats.
If there's any rapper fit for TOBACCO's style of production its most definitely Aesop.
They've collabed together before too on "Fucked Up Friends"
Two of my favourite artists and they have crazy synergy, I'm so hyped
Its a dissapointing album
Ian Good cap
We need malibu ken 2 . Some of aesops best recent lyrics are on this album. Period.
the ending when the rat realized its in a cartoon had me laughing my ass off so hard thats amazing
got it on bandcamp, bandcamp rocks.
+1
Absolute banger
Aes still coming with that underground sound after so many years. Talk about longevity...
I like wild orchids
And neighbors with wide orbits
I feel you, Aes
There are rappers...there are MCs & then there is Aesop Rock ! Damn...
"Someday we'll earn a subdivision gaudier than 'reprobates'
Who sit around depressed and guess the order of the Tetris rain"
This album is going to be incredible.
Yea, good. It should be.
Lame
Aesop Rock and TOBACCO are a match made in heaven
Wearing Headphones and I have the bass turned up so high I can feel the beat in my TEETH
No lie, this is his best album. I’ve been listening to Aesop for over 20 years and this one is definitely a masterpiece.
*Thank you Aesop, very cool!*
Plz come play at my son's birthday party :)
Very cool
CreativeYousername the crazy thing is , Aesop probably would do it , if he had the time. I've seen him a number of times on Long Island , and he used to chill before and after the show , dude is cool like that. Now that I think about it , I can't recall him cursing on any tracks. I could be wrong about that but none come to mind. I first listened to daylight about 17 years ago , and it was the same style and flow he is using now. He hasn't changed the whole time , when the shit bag Aesop Rocky came out I was mad as hell and tried to explain it to anyone who would listen lol. He's a white dude from Long Island , nobody would believe me , always said nah he black from harlem.
God damn, everytime I randomy think: I'm gonna search Aesop and see if he's released anything new, I always score
I've never been disappointed by anything Aesop has put out.
I hope Tobacco has produced the whole album.
Malibu Ken is Aesop and Tobacco, so he probably is producing the whole album
Heard this two days ago. Woke up today with the hook still knocking around in my head.
Aesop is the best
I got up at 3:55 this morning.....no death force 😢
I can't believe a Tobacco and Aesop Rock are actually finally making an album. Been begging for this for the longest.
Beat reminds me of NIN's Ghosts instrumental set. Heavy, slow, electronic, loads of fuzz.
Criminally underrated
Aesop. Your the only rapper that I have to rewind. Keep it alive.
Needed this today 🤘
i liked the "you're killing me smalls!" reference at 0:47
"The million dollar free-jazz speak in a secret garden
Some people think it's freakish but they can't deny the harvest"
Damn fucking right!
I literally listen to this religiously every morning. I need more music like this, it's so refreshing
It was way to long since the new king dropped some music. so glad we got more Asesop to listen to.
Aesops style with TOBACCO's production blends insanely well. Kinda wan a hear an earl sweatshirt feature on this album.
No one here talking about that video? It gives me dang chills!
1:25 aesop’s pulling out that gummy flow.
The voices in my head still talk tough
I go to bed stoned
I got some walls up
the voices in my head still talk tough
Not sure I can express how much I appreciate this song's existence. Thank you.
This is the super team above all super teams!
"The voices in my head still talk tough"
nice bro, whole album is pretty lit.
New Aesop uploaded 18 minutes ago? Hell yes.
New malibu ken song.
Charles appalachia I know, I'm just hyped for new Aes in particular because he's my favorite rapper of all time. But yeah him and TOBACCO are a good combo as Malibu Ken
Lame
I feel like with the two songs and videos he’s put out it brings me to his childhood. Saturday morning cartoons, rock and roll and the hate for it in the 80s. I’m hyped!
this whole album is pure gold
This collab is insane. And both videos have been incredibly animated. Fuckin art
No hay duda, Malibu Ken está destinado a ser de lo mejor de 2019.
Another work of art by Aesop
May 2019 and the voices in my head still talk tough. Still go to bed stoned. Still got some walls up.
Day 3 and Im pretty sure 50,000 of the 72,000 of views are from me. I dont know what yall doing but dont sleep on this jam. Its unreal.
Must not sleep, must warn others
Shit I got about 500 of those views myself
like wendy's fries and a frosty... both amazing on their own, but surprisingly out of this world combined...
Thank you and mad love to the true school
Loving the production on this album, both of the singles released are fucking great
So happy they’re doing this album.
It just keeps getting better and better.
I'm convinced. With aging wisdom to bestow upon the rest, how could hip hop, a culture of fine literature , be a young man's domain.
Maybe they have some walls up..

I haven't been this hyped for a project in a few years, lets go
My palms are sweating.. That's how hard I felt this! This made my 2018..big ups Aesop Rock! 2018 and only getting better, stronger, faster..brighter ✌️
Blessed be the OGs for still carrying the torch for hip hop.
I can tell already that this is going to be my new favourite record
It makes me happy aes bringing out a couple songs a year, let's me know he's doing okay
Aesop is really the King of all this shit..
Props to the artist.
There was actually two of them.
The only 1 who remains completely original🙌🏼🙏🏼👊🏼
This album is all I ever wanted since I heard dirt in 2009
Oh this just gets better and better
I'm so ready for this record. Preorder's been in since day one, as soon as Aes posted the link on Instagram.
Same
Good morning Julia
Let's go full trottle !
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😎
Impressive as usual, aes consistently kills track after track, I try to put other people on to him, wish he was more well known. Excited for this album
Yeeessssss
The visuals are amazing
You’re killin me smalls!!
The synth work and production on this is so good that it somehow manages to put Aesop in the backseat. This is going to be an incredible album.
We socialize with pundits who encompass all the wrong stuff. I count the bread quick.
I got some walls up.
Its clever if you're a kid
Ian Good nah it’s impressive no matter who the fuck you are
I'm calling it, Malibu Ken are the best thing to happen to rap since Madvillain
hold up, no rtj then?
I love rtj, but I don't think El-P and Killer Mike are on the same level as producer/mc as tobacco and aesop (or madlib and DOOM) are
rtj is weak.
listen to kool keith
@@albertosanchez6343 rtj is not el-p alone on production though and both rap on every single track. I think KM stands out more and I think could possibly be up there as a GOAT. My favorite rapper is Aesop no doubt but anyone great gets your attention.
That's not how you spell Hail Mary Mallon.
The instrumentals on this album are FUCKING RIDICULOUSLY GOOD!
This beat is unreal and the rhymes hit hard, can't wait for this album, also the 2D animation is really fitting
The Lyrics are insane. I cannot wait for this album.
