Well, that's what he thinks but it could be very well that the universe is protecting him from himself. If he fails to redirect it in his current state of turmoil, he won't be able to play his part in the future to come🤷♀️
When Zuko failed to produce lightning the first time, Iroh wasn't shaking his head out of shame, but because he knew Zuko was too emotional to successfully pull it off. Iroh could create lightning because he's Iroh and peace of mind is natural to him. For *Azula* however...she's something else.
Iroh is the greatest, and this episode is one of his best. "Pride is not the opposite of shame, it is its source" is one of the hardest lines ever. Also, that last scene with zuko never fails to make me shed a tear.
4:24 My favorite piece of trivia about this is that Toph having eyeholes in her rock suit is an actual error in the storyboard stage that was kept in. It was supposed to be a mouth hole for her to breathe from, not eyeholes to "see" through.
Aang needed that time with Katara. It's true, coddling doesn't work, but neither does "tough (Toph) love" without having like a center of confidence. To be able to forge yourself in the earth (as you so beautifully said it), you need to have a strong core. At first Aang didn't really have that, but Katara's encouragement kinda resonated with his inner self, so he could feel better and stronger after that. Then he could do a lot more. We all need to recharge our emotional batteries before trying to face the harshness of life head on.
For anyone mad about Toph smacking around Aangs staff i have a couple of points. One, i get the sense that Toph was running low on ideas. Most people capable of earth bending grow up in a culture of earth benders where standing your ground is normal. Aang is an unusual student and this is Toph first time. Two, wooden gliders have to be made out of a crazy strong wood. Something with a high density and tensile strength. The physics of flying are intense. Even with air bending that is still at lot of force and the glider has to be made out something strong. Three there is a bit of a gap where Toph was by herself or just her and momo where she could have tested the glider tapping it and feeling its strength. To figure out what kind of stunt she could pull that might provoke Aang into standing up to her. Something to think about. I really like Toph in this episode. She gets over showed by Iroh but i like her as an unorthodox teacher.
I've always liked thefact that bending isnt just about movement, Toph said it herself if he comes at it from a air bender's point of view he's never going to be able to do it
Also the stuff with bending and why certain elements are easier, or harder for the avatar are also so interesting! Like Aang, with how he was raised being a gentle airbender, and earth being.... very head on/straight forward, or with Korra and why aor was so hard for her as well
I find that one hard to believe because that would require Toph leaving Aang in the middle of earthbending training, finding Sokka who was in a tree and thus not connected to the ground for her to sense, and while she could've attracted the mother moose I think it's just as possible and a bit more likely that the mother was looking for her child and finally found it.
Zuko is just a good character- i love his story- and with Azula- she is also oddly fascinating to me! I had a lot of fun re watxhing this with my friends and we talked about their stories
I get the idea that Katara is more caring and motherly than Toph, but I don't think it's accurate to say she's "only known love" (9:17). She was the last waterbender in her tribe. Everything she knows about bending at the beginning of the show, she had to learn by herself. And when she meets a waterbending master for the first time, she's denied the right to learn alongside Aang. She litterally fights for her place among the other students. Toph may appear more harsh and self-asserting but Katara has nothing to envy her when it comes to getting to where she is through her own merit and determination.
11:40 yeah moose are massive animals. They can be 5-6.5 ft at the shoulders, so this animal might be in the upper part of that range or only a little taller.
Iroh tells Zuko that trying to do lightning will mostly kill him. At the end, he wants the lightning to strike him. I see it as he was trying to end his life. This show is so sad.
Unlike most firebending, lightning isn't fueled by rage or ambition it requires a clear mind. That's why it's so rare. It's a technique that needs the complete opposite of the rest of the set.
yeah we are pretty much at the point of the series where we don't get many "happy endings" to episodes This series pretty much is a non stop ride from here on out....
The next episode is called The Library. And at 15:29, if you thought the last three endings were crazy, then just wait until you get to the next episode. Something bad will happen at the end of the end of it. Really bad.
@@FedericaCorradino , Ohhh boy, this is going to be insane. You're right! She has no idea what's coming. I even warned her in the comments when she reacted to the swamp episode.
The Avatar always has the most trouble mastering whatever element is most opposite their personality. At 1st glance it seems like Aang had a harder time Earth bending that Korra had with Air Bending but if you think about it Aang got the hang of Earth Bending in a much shorter time than it took Korra with Air Bending. Plus Korra had legitimate teachers Toph is a great fighter she had no reason to be so confident in her abilities as a teacher. Her mentods may have been partially necccisary for Earth Bending she was expecting too much too fast and I think there was a lot of room fro middle ground. It actually isn't true that Katarra knows only kindness we saw in episode 1 that not only is Katarra self taught but Sokka constently belittled her for being a girl and not taking Water Bending seriously. Then in the North Pole her Water Bending teacher was anything but kind and accepting so Kattara does know what it is like.
It says a lot about Zuko's life that him not getting struck by lightning is legitimately an indicator of the universe spiting him.
Well, that's what he thinks but it could be very well that the universe is protecting him from himself. If he fails to redirect it in his current state of turmoil, he won't be able to play his part in the future to come🤷♀️

True.
But it's at least easy to understand why Zuko takes it that way.
Litterally the only person who has every considered himself unlucky when to NOT be struck by lighting!

Korra: ‘how’d you teach Aang earthbending?’
Toph: ‘I threw some rocks at him, he got all whiny, and Sokka fell in a hole.’
Iroh is the greatest, and this episode is one of his best. "Pride is not the opposite of shame, it is its source" is one of the hardest lines ever. Also, that last scene with zuko never fails to make me shed a tear.
Zuko was legit screaming at God or whoever’s up there to not “pity” him after everything else he’s been through. And that hurt…
@@JAnne_Bonne he's screaming at his father

Katara really knows just how to connect with Aang in the best ways when he really needs it.
"No crushing please." - This is an underrated, and very important line.
Aang and Sokka's conversation while Sokka is literally stuck in the ground is everything lmao

It is so rare to have a series evoke so much emotion the way avatar does

Like him *NEEDING* to get that confidence and stand up for himself in more was is just so important
"Toph, be a little nice!"
Yeeeeah she doesn't really do nice.
Feel bad for Sokka he been in the hole for hours thank goodness Toph help him and got him out
10:48 I Wouldn't Worry Too Much About Sokka, He's A Very Down To Earth Type Of Guy, If You Know What I Mean. 😂🤣
I've always appreciates iroh and zuko moments even serious ones
it'll always be my headcanon that Toph put Sokka in that hole *and* attracted the moose creature to give Aang incentive.

Toph just has zero cares in the world
4:20 That's A Gentle Nudge. 😐

Am I first? If I am... I just want to tell you Im watching your channel since star butterfly reactions❤
may I know where your sweater is from??? it is super cute
When is the new episode coming out?
10:27 We ALL know what Toph would have said instead of pushover if this wasn't a kid's show lmao
3:03 you know when someone’s a lost cause when even Iroh thinks so😅.
Where is Blueyyyyyy
I hope zamber watches the legend of korra
I do hope she does rewatch it (even if not on the channel itself) so she can recognize the connections better.
She already has seen whole Korra.
