To clarify on the fight, it isn’t that Aang didn’t care enough about Jet to protect him, the attack was basically point blank he didn’t have enough time to intervene.
@@christiantwist3360that’s just the stupidity of Standards & Practices in general. If you watch Alex Hirsch’s video on some of the back and forth he got from Disney S&P for Gravity Falls, what they would allow in the show was all over the place.
That scene where Iroh yells at Zuko is amazing, I've rewatched it so many times. It's the only time he's ever raised his voice at Zuko and its out of tremendous fear for his nephew and the path he's trapped himself on. Iroh is Zuko's real dad.
Apparently, originally Longshot was supposed to aim his bow at Jet at the end for a mercy killing, but they had to change it to him aiming at the door since it was too dark
They didn't put as much focus on it, but Toph DID use her lie-detecting ability a few episodes earlier. In "City of Walls and Secrets", that one guy in a nearby Upper-Ring house tries to lie to them, and Toph says "I can feel you shaking". He shortly afterwards warns them to not mention the war in the city and stay away from the Dai Li.
Toph could always detect lies, that's why she looked at Aang so weird when she said a tree in a swamp sent a vision of her her face was like "this crazy ass story ISN'T a lie?"
Toph is like batman's utility belt. She has a skill for every situation. Like being the only person who found appa's fur in the middle of the barn even though she is blind 8:16
7:25 Well, to be fair, when has anyone tried to lie to her before now? In between adding Toph to the group and their arrival in Ba Sing Se, all their enemies were of the much more straightforward type, and could be defeated by hitting them.
@@OmegaChimeraour boy got tons of rock pushed against his chest, I'm sorry to say but his chest and ribs should be broken as well as his internal organs should be harmed from the attack.
Well I’ve seen cows/bulls eat snakes and chicks before… I wouldn’t put it past him- Any animals will eat meat if given the chance. Although Appa is a bit different due to the religious connection he has
When rewatching this episode, I’m actually surprised on how this episode has Sokka being a bit more trusting with Jet and katara being the one more hesitant to trust him. Especially, if u remember the episode “Jet”. I mean it makes sense for Katara but Sokka it’s interesting. I guess it’s another example of how avatar always subverts expectations.
Maybe it's because Sokka didn't feel betrayed by Jet as he didn't like him from the start. Katara on the other hand trusted him and he betrayed her, for a second she thought Jet hurt Sokka and used her and Aang to mvrder an entire town.
It is actually pretty consistent with their character considering SPOILER what happens later with Katara and Zuko. Sokka doesn’t really hold grudges against people who have wronged him, at least not in comparison to Katara where breaking her trust is very important to her.
Jet was probably in his mind control most of the episode. It's implied that when Long Feng says they were going to try to continue to handle things quietly he had gotten the idea to use Jet and he's probably been locked up the entire time. He's then sent out with a false memory of what happened, and then the warehouse they were sent to was fake and the sweeper was under the employ of the Dai Lee too. He only breaks out when Katara uses her water bending but it's possible that his memory of the holding cell may have also been a back up plan by the Dai Lee, hence why they were all there seemingly waiting for them to show up.
In the original version of the scene it was supposed to show Jet's friend pointing his bow at Jet to put him out of his misery, but that scene was deemed too Dark to show on nickelodeon so they changed it to look like he was drawing his bow to guard from and Dai Lee agents who may be coming. They don't say it outright but yeah...Jet's Dead. A kid died in this show
I mean to be fair they had no idea how many Dai Lee were around that facility and any fights they might have started could have sent an alert through the facility and made it even harder or possibly impossible to get to Appa. They were just 7 people, only 3 of which were benders, only 2 of which were earth benders.
Interesting side note. In Chinese Laogai means "reform through labor" and it was a criminal justice system involving the use of penal labor. Those labour camps were often just called laogai. That ended in 1994 when in all government documents, laogai was replaced with Jiānyù, which translates as Prison - the system has, however, remained laogai, just with a more acceptable name.
7:40 well there were no need for her to do this before so maybe thats why .d its not going to be something that only happens in this episode btw its not a thing that came out of nowhere for the plot and vanish
Zamber just to let you know you might want to hold that scene 9:33 because I think it be interesting to put it in a certain episode of your reaction videos that has something to do with brainwashing.
I'm surprised it isn't obvious to people that Jet is dead....I was around 6 or 7 years old when watching this episode air, and it was pretty obvious to me that he is dead
I felt Korra was aimed at more 'teen' audiences, so those types of things were... somehow more chill. But... these are all children dealing with really f-ed up stuff, ya know?
Zamber: "Jet's not dead though, right?
The entire fandom: "You know, it was really unclear."
Too soon😂😂😂
Best answer 😂😂😂
Yes he is dead
Lol
To clarify on the fight, it isn’t that Aang didn’t care enough about Jet to protect him, the attack was basically point blank he didn’t have enough time to intervene.
Plus Aang’s shocked expression after the attack does show it happened so fast that he was trying to process what he just witnessed.
the problem of slow-mo… also, yeah, close range, immediate, and Aang doesn’t have Toph’s seismic sense
@@oforth Toph has taught him to feel the vibrations but here he isn’t as experienced with it
Yeah, Jet is dead.
Standards and Practices didnt want it to be on screen, so they had to leave it "really unclear" but he is confirmed dead here.
I feel like the show is really inconsistent with what they allow violent/death/words wise😂

It's honestly a beautiful scene and the framing of the shots is perfect! The vocal work is stellar! i'm forever blown away by it all

Did you notice that when Jet is hurt, that was the only time we ever heard Longshot speak.
A neat tiny detail most people won't notice, after Jet returns from the Dai Li, the little knifes on his weapons were replaced with blunt sticks.
