Omg you saved me from a migraine. I just unboxed this model and I couldn’t figure this out for the life of me. Thanks so much for this video. You have no idea how much frustration you just solved for me
Thank you for posting this. I read the manual twice and looked at the dewalt site. After wasting a bunch of time trying to figure it out, including pulling and pushing that same pin, I finally thought to try RUclips. Thank you!!!!!
I have to admit that was pretty easy. Thank you for making this video. Your right. I searched all over RUclips and couldn't find the video. Thank you again!
THANK YOU!!! I just wasted 3.5 hours trying to figure it out!! No instructions or other info anywhere 🤯. You are a LIFE SAVER!! (Verified same on my DCS361 cordless sliding compound miter saw)
I’ve inherited ALOT of the tools from the 18v Battery era of Dewalt, including a dw708 and literally was lost for day trying to get unlocked, thank you !
Bless you for making this video! I'm new to woodworking and purchased this saw. I was completely frustrated and could not figure out how to raise the saw arm. Many reviews of this saw never addressed this. THANKS so much!
THANK YOUUUU!!!! I’ve had mine for years and never really thought about it until I moved. Then it was in storage and completely forgot about the little locking pin. God bless you!
Thank you. I almost took a sledgehammer to this machine. After 2 hours I saw your video. You saved my marriage and the saw. Note to Dewalt: You owe an apology to anyone that bought this saw. And a refund.
The saw is pretty good, just... why would you not put this in the manual? The manual even explains how to cut different shaped things like trims and such and how to orient wood if it has bowing issues - but doesn't state how to unlock the saw lol.
THANK YOU! I was about to sell my DW717 because I thought it didn't have this feature. So glad I double checked before I made a big mistake. This is a real game changer!
Thank you! This helped me so much! Mines on a 703 and on the other side, but this helped me figure it out so much faster. I inherited it and didn’t come with an instruction manual
I pulled on everything! Thanks!!! I do agree that showing would’ve helped me faster. At least from this video, I knew which side of the saw to look on.
@@frelulu I'm not a professional how to person. I recorded this in my garage with one hand and no assistance in 40 seconds. I close in with the camera on the silver pin on the left side of the arm. You pull that out to the left. Hope that helps.
Wow, you are just awesome, I swear! I just got this and seriously needed to cut some wood. I was mentally prepared for some idiotic youtube video that's 10 minutes long with 7 minutes of filler ("please like and subscribe"), but I found the perfect thing I needed to get the job done. You saved me some good time!
Omg you are truly a saint! I was literally going crazy trying to figure this out. And for people that are clueless where it’s at they are just here to cause problems.
Mine was a little different due to different mode but oh my gosh… thank you so much! This saved me a whole lot of time even though I already spend some of it searching for some unlock lever with no luck until I saw your video.
I spent about an hour trying to figure this out. Thanks for uploading such a short a straight to the point video. You’re an absolute saint and ignore those dumbasses who still couldn’t figure it out after watching your video!
Thank you!!! I initially thought thatI was the biggest idiot since all the videos that show taking the saw out of the box skip over that part. You're the best!!
@@DavidBirschbach I can't remember for sure since I'm not at my saw right now, but I think you pull it out drag it the direction you want to go then let it back in ...like at 45°, etc. It has stops at some of these numbers.
GodDAMN!!!! Thank you!!! This was driving me crazy. Why wouldn’t they put this in the manual?! I was trying to mess with that pin, but it just wouldn’t move. Not until pressing the thing on the handle as you said. Bless you, Angel. For real. After trying to assemble the stupid Hercules mitre saw stand, which has the worst instructions ever known to man… I was just about up to my eyebrows with aggressive frustration. ❤ (seriously, thank you.)
Had a tough time finding this today. I told the elderly gentleman who owned it I bet I could find out how to unlock it in a few minutes on you tube lol
Thanks! This is my first saw, trying to beef up my DIY skills as a new home owner. I read the manual front to back twice and it literally just does not mention this lol. There is a diagram that just points to it as number 17 and says "head pin lock" but does not explain what that is or how to use it.
This video is three years old, amd is still a life-saver. I was getting really frustrated trying ti figure out how the raise my saw arm. Thanks!!!

This is perfect, i just set up and managed to figure out the swivel, the bevel adjustments but couldn't raise the arm. She DOES show which pin. Thanks
No she doesn't
What friggin pin is she talking about
Thank you so much for taking the time to create video. I spent a stupid amount of time trying to figure this out.
You're welcome.
Precious! After both of us wrestling with this I found this short video. Thank you, thank you, thank you. @dewalttv needs people like you!
I love you!!! It took me 45 mins to figure out how the rental guy locked this thing and there were no other videos on this
Thanks! I forgot after you showed me last time a year ago. thanks for being here!!
THANK YOUUUU!!!! I’ve had mine for years and never really thought about it until I moved. Then it was in storage and completely forgot about the little locking pin. God bless you!
Wow thank you so much… can’t believe it was the simple, I’ve been trying to figure this out for an hour!!

Lol the marriage and the saw. Epic levels, i feel u
Lol for a refund. Its really not thst complicated just accept you never used a saw before its okay.

I’ve been staring at this thing for 10 minutes
Thank you!!!!
I've been trying to figure it out for a long time and I couldn't find anything in the manual either. Thank you so much for your help

Thank you so much for posting this! I couldn't figure it out!! So helpful!!
Thank you so much! I have been in mr garage for the last 30 min trying to figure it out!
thank you so much!! My older brother and I were putting together this saw and were genuinely going crazy thinking we had no pin. Thanks again!
Omg thank you it took me 30 mins trying to figure out till I came across your video. 😅😂😊 🙏 ❤
This video really helped, thanks . I have a different model but your guide steered me . Cheers

Would help if you showed how and which pin
Exactly

Thank you soooo much I appreciate you!! I hope you get every green light and that life is blessing you !!!
Thanks for the video! I wasnt pushing down and took me awhile to find this video!
So nice that you explain this!!!! All the other video's tell about the things you can do after this step 😂 i couldnt start without this video! Thanks

Thank you so much! Simple but necessary!!!!

I love how this video has 20k views. No one’s alone.
It’s the silver pin
Thank you! Trying to figure it out for a half hour
Thank you so much...after an hour of trying to figure this out I stopped being hardheaded and came to RUclips.

I was losing my mind over this. THANK YOU!
OMG! Thank you! I’ve been sitting here for 20 minutes trying to figure it out 😂
Man, I was losing my mind with this, turns out it was super simple
Thank you so much! I was struggling❤
Oh my gosh. Thank you. I felt like an idiot because I could not figure this out
You're not an idiot. Instructions were never provided in the manual. Hopefully, they will fix that in the future.
Wow! Thank you! 🙏 was looking all over to freaking unlock it
Thank you!! All the other videos either didn’t show it or fast forwarded through the process.
Thank you so much! Real quick and easy. Now I can start cutting.
So I’m not alone okay that makes me feel better lol thanks for the upload
Thanks!!! This was very helpful
Amazing!! Thank you for saving me time. This worked on my model dws716xps
I was looking for that! Thanks!
It took me a while to do it with this video too 🤦🏼♀️ But I got it. Thanks. I would have never figured it out.
You really came through! Thank you so much!
Thank you! I would have never figured this out!!
How do I move the part that sets the angle of cut
? Which way should the black lever at front be set to change the angle of the cut?

@@DiRidpath I borrowed it and will check at HomeDepot as this one won’t adjust!
That was very helpful. I don't know why they couldn't make that "step" 2 in the instruction manual.
Exactly what I needed, you saved my day

Thank you!!! I was loosing my mind!
You are a lifesaver! Dewalt needs to do better!
I would have never guessed. Thanks!
Thank you thank you. I've been wrestling with this pos for over an hour. The manual is woefully inadequate about a lot of stuff that's on the saw
