Perfect timing. Lots of people joining with the Steam launch, but there's not a lot of fresh Arcanists content on RUclips and a lot of new books. Players are looking for tier lists & tips & tricks so videos like these are really helpful!
For sure. I'm the only active Arcanists creator right now to my knowledge, so you're right. If you have any ideas for content, please pass them along. I have a few videos in mind that center around beginner guides and tutorials, things like that. Thanks a lot for watching!
@@coevalarcanists I think learning how to build a spellbook would be a good tutorial. Lot of people like certain spells, but don't know about core concepts or themes that these spells can be built around.
There's a thing called the IKEA principle, which basically says people enjoy something more when they build it themselves, so guides around how to be smart with the spells someone thinks are cool or fun instead of just chasing the meta or "high-tier" spells.
And then I think another good concept for a video would be dealing with certain playstyles like hiding, flight, trapping, etc.
Just my two cents as someone who returned for steam but hadn't played since they shut down the original Arcanists

@@coevalarcanists i would personally like to see in depth book reviews showing the strengths and weaknesses of each book and your own insight on how they might best be used. Familiar vs not running 12 spells.
@@Habibeastt good idea, so you think full book guides (familiar) as well as mixed book would be good?
@@coevalarcanists yes for sure I would watch and like every one. You could even have a separate video afterwards showing “meta” books people run in tournaments. Another cool video idea is just a straight up tier list of all the spells in the game.
@@Habibeastt Good ideas for sure! For tier list, might need a separate one for high times and low times. Maybe two separate videos. high times prioritized since new players prefer it, because they need time to think.
Just got back into the game after 13 years and was going through winning with all pure spell book achievements in low time. Not familiar with anything past cogs from OG Arcanists, so was going in order from left to right. When I got to Seasons book thought I may have just been bad with it as had more loses with it than every other pure book combined, but you ranking it F tier does explain a lot.
It's very hard to use. A lot of minions combined with all the spells being new...it's tough. Def can be fun to use!
I'm looking at trying to master arcane or nature, any tips how did you find them?
@@LouDaveyy As far as finding them, you can equip the spells in the spell selection menu.
If you're referring to the full books and not the elementals mode, for arcane, I'd bring monarchs, drain, blast from the past, and forest seed. Monarchs are used to summon and drain your health up once you level the familiar. Focus on summoning all your minions early with arcane and charging up imps.
For nature, you could bring gate, drain, blast from the past, and forest seed. The idea is to get elves out early. Hold off on leveling up your familiar; only level it to 5 if you can get one elf or more to the opponent to do a one-hit KO flurry. Trap the opponent early with vine bridges and trees to be able to summon elves so that they are not killed on summon.
High times is the only time mode you should be using either of these books because of the heavy emphasis on minions.

@@LouDaveyy Sure man. It's best on armageddon maps, like goblin caves, elven isles. With full light you need to stall for the opening turns, trap your opponent, hide early. Your plan is to get to the middle/late game and be able to build prots, use minions to block the arma from hitting you or hide in land. Use shining power (angel wings) late game and you will get great healing, 10 hp per turn. Meanwhile your opponent gets destroyed by the arma and they can't outpace your +50 from prot and +10 healing each turn.
Good four spells with full light are gate, arcane arrows, flash, clock tower. Or can slot in portal for clock tower. With shining power active you can only use full light and arcane, which is why I include arcane arrows and portal.
I am planning over time to make dedicated videos on each full book discussing how to win with it and a few potential book options. Hope that helps.
I love running Arcane Gate and santa's magic at the same time. It's so easy to bait fissures and volcanoes, then casually peace out.

When should you be using familiars with each book? I get confused as to whether or not I should be using them in the beginning or later (should i always push to level 5 immediately when I use them or just use lower levels for some books?)
Great question I gotta cover this throughout more of my videos. You want to go straight to level 5 with some of the familiars that give the biggest benefit: books like fire and stone are good examples.
If you need the benefit immediately (for example if you need level 3 familiar to jump somewhere) you can use it. With some familiars you may have the opportunity to drain up so you could take 3 levels then drain back up to full.
Couple book specific things with nature you generally wait to use any familiar until you have an elf on top of your opponent and you're ready to one hit KO. With Underdark you never want to go to level 5 so that you can move your jar if it gets sunk. When you take another level it drops your soul jar at your feet. Also with seas you only need one level right now to get water walking.
If you can go for the kill by going level 5 and have the HP for it , do it. If you have good setup and can heal up without much trouble after going level 5, do it (except with Underdark).
With new book familiars the designs are a little janky you get additional charges of spells for each level on a lot of those, or additional benefits at each level. So taking familiar one at a time can work.

I disagree with the minion play with Illusion.. The duplication definitely makes it A tier, cause you can easily stick the duplicate on offense and constantly pressure an opponent with their own moveset while you hide away.
Yes, very potent. When I was making the guide I put duplication under offense, but yeah, it is technically a minion. I agree!
Would your opinion ok these books change for non elemental games? As a returning player I see alot of cosmic and blood books
Generally no. Fire and stone are still good without eles, probably not S Tier though. Books like overlight and Underdark are quite strong without ele. Just to give a couple examples. Id say blood and cosmos are pretty average, similar to their eles rating.

can someone explain to me exactly how butterfly jar works. Ive tried using it before but it just sits on the minions without doing anything. Do they have to walk on top of it or something?
So, the jar can be spawned in a circle around the player, just like any minion. You place the jar on top of a small minion like a swarm , storm spirit, or monarch and click, then it spawns on the minion and traps it.
Damage breaks the jar. And, if you free an opponents minion, they become your minion.

@@proper2979 Yes imps storm spirit, swarm, monarchs, pixies...minions of that size. :)

Yeah it is quite strong. Just requires a lot of setup and using minions so ranked it a tad lower. Stone and fire are just so easy to pilot lol. Thanks for watching man!
