5:4533:5144:53 Awesome lines! He was a contemporary of Yngwie and was clearly one of the "creators" of the Neo-Classical Rock Fusion style (even though not really influenced by Yngwie at all but from his piano training and violin sonatas and partitas etc), and yet he didn't get a lot of credit for it. I still remember being very young when I first heard his album "Maximum Security" (1987) from a friend. It blew me away and had me learning tons of new advanced techniques that I simply didn't hear any other player doing at that time other than Yngwie. Then, Vinnie Moore came along, then Paul Gilbert, etc. and the rest is history! LOL!
I remember finding it in the GIT library late one night summer of 89...I took several lessons from Tony up in Northern California in 85...SUPER NICE GUY and major talent...he turned our front room at our house into a concert hall with a performance of Chopin, Liszt one day...amazing
Thanks for posting this! I remember reading in GW magazine he used a Peavey amp set on clean, and then used a MXR Distortion pedal for the "dirty" sound. I think he also had DiMarzio PAF pickups in that guitar. Love that Kramer, the tone and Tony's Jheri curl.mullet :)
Too nervous playing style. This needs more breath it suffocates me. Little boring and no memorable melodies. It is like a mix of Yngwie and Jazz fusion styles.
Tony was one of the first real shred heroes, and still is
